We'd like to be able to support Visual Basic as many people know it and its easy to learn, the problem is that VB can't create "real" dlls, only ActiveX dlls. I think it'd be possible to write an addon that could act as an interface between blue and a Visual Basic ActiveX dll though. eAi

We assume mod development will work in a similar style to mods for other games, in that teams develop, create a mod and release it. Server admins will put it on their servers if they like it. Obviously, to some extent GTA is different in the fact that creating a total modification is very hard and slow (look at Myriad), so teams are either going to be small (creating small features and game-modes) or very big (creating total conversions), and probably not the kind of size that you get with half-life (e.g. 2 mappers, 2 modelers, 2 coders etc). Initially, I don't think we'll have automatic downloading of mods. Its somthing we've thought about and put to one side to think about after we release and see how the community reacts to the game and the possibilities offered for mod development. With mods for other games, you do tend to assume the downloads are safe. As most other games with mods are multiplayer, its generally safe to assume that mods with lots of people playing are safe, while mods that nobody is playing, you're not going to bother downloading. Concequently, its not exactly a good way to pass bugs or viruses. Theres also the added disincentive that most mods for other games are fairly large, so most people won't download them without a recomendation. With mods for MTA:blue, I expect there will be quite a lot of small mods (a few KB) so this could pose an problem with people randomly downloading lots of mods to try them out. We'll see once the games released, and if need be work out a solution. eAi

We have a rough timetable set down for releases and betas, and we're going to stick to that. I know everyone wants blue now (I do too), but thats not going to happen. We all put as much time and effort into blue as we can, some of us are working on it full-time. We don't make a habit of releasing buggy betas if we can fix the bugs in advance, unlike many other modifications, so we won't this time. As Jon points out, the progress bar stating 60% is not accurate. To say that no development has happened since that progress bar moved to 60% would be tottally stupid, we've probably written a good ten thousand lines of code since then. Maybe we should update it more often, the problem is deciding what to update it to, as we all have different views on how close we are to our final goal. On the subject of feature cutting, we see no need to do so, we're not restricted by budget or time as it stands, and as we've prommised the features listed on http://www.multitheftauto.com/blue.php we're going to deliver them, unless somthing major prevents us from doing so. We will release more specific information on blue nearer the release, we would of course like to thank everyone for being patient and waiting for blue. We prommise you're going to really enjoy it when its released. eAi Btw, edited poll to make it not so ambiguous. If you're writing a poll, don't put both options in the question followed by Yes and No, or its tottally unclear whats being asked.

You have to connect to a server before changing those boxes. eAi

As you've got 1.0, try using 1.1. Normally 1.0 is better than 1.1, but have a go anyway. Make sure you've got the correct version of GTA selected in the top right-hand corner of the client and try again. If this still doesn't work, take a screenshot of the error and what you've entered and post it here and we'll have a look. eAi

I think this has been resolved. You aren't able to mod MTA in its current form, with the future release of the blue core, you will be able to. Locked

Doing this would be creating an entire new piece of software for a fairly small number of people who want to run an MTA server yet can't read the manual of their router or firewall. In the end its not worth it, if you have a problem with a specific router, have a look on google, read the manual, check the manufacturers website for new firmware or known issues and finally ask us here. eAi

That bug is fixed in blue. Shotguns will be in blue in all their glory (somehow, somthing we're working on). Addons will be able to restrict which guns are avaliable, so if you really don't like them or want to limit them, thats possible. eAi

Its nice that we've got some rumours (in a way) but this one is false. We will continue to make MTA for as long as we can and as long as we're motivated to do so. Although blue is going to be an amazing step forwards, theres lots we still want to build ontop of it after the first release. eAi

Will MTA:Blue also be applied for GTA SA when it comes out?
eAi replied to riahc3's topic in General Blue discussion
Well, with the upcoming release of blue, you'll be able to create much more interesting game modes in smaller areas. For example, a race mode wouldn't need the entire map, or a huge number of players, so you could just use a little corner of Vice City for the race instead of the entire area, making a probably much more interesting experience. eAi -
No, you do slide of moving boats.
-
No, 4 man drivebys almost certainly won't be in the initial release of blue. eAi

Yes, voodoo hydraulics will be synced.

Well, you heard wrong. -
its "sold" not "selt"

Planes are boats and boats don't work in 0.4. They'll be possible in blue though. eAi

Yes, cheats are disabled. As previously said, the upcoming release of "blue" will allow you to mod the game as much as you wish (we hope), as long as everyone you play with plays with the same settings. eAi
-
We can, as I've explained, but currently the way I've tried runs the game at a slightly slower speed, so alt+tabbing still gives you an advantage. Clearly even if we could get it to run perfectly, it'd still be potentially possible to pause the process and theres little we could do about that (appart from maybe kicking the player). eAi

You could be right there

Can I just point out that we've never said that blue is a year off. If it takes us a year, I'll be extremly woried. eAi
-
Using mods in blue will never be considered a "hack" or "cheat" as it'll be enforced, everyone will have the same cheat. If everyone has the same cheat in 0.4, its a fair game, even if it is against our EULA and our wishes. eAi

In what way is that statement offensive? I disagree, I think that comments that are offensive should be removed, whoever they're offensive to (within reason). The same applies in the real world, if someone writes an offensive letter to a newspaper, you don't publish it. If you see any other libelous comments on these forums, please pm me or another moderator and we'll see that its removed. eAi

With the release of blue, it'll be possible to generate very interesting stats fairly easily... eAi
