Hi all, we're looking into the exact cause of the freeze bug in 1.1 and we'd like it if people who had it could post their system specs, in particular: OS (Windows version), ammount of memory, processor type (dual core?) and speed, anything else you think might be relevant... Thanks!

Sounds like a good idea - please remember we are intending to _totally_ change admin in the future. We've haven't announced how this will work - obviously the same features will be there, but the method of access will change substantially. Obviously a framework if well designed could hide any changes from the framework's users - just please keep this in mind when you're developing it! I personally think Java is well suited to this kind of task - one issue MTAMA has is that it is forced to run on windows (or through wine on linux) and as most servers run on linux this isn't ideal...

Cycling skill, bike skill, flying skill and driving skill are all set to 1000.
-
This is xfire's fault, not ours. Please talk to their support team about this issue, there is nothing we can do to resolve it.
-
Driving skills are all set to full in race.

champion, rather than telling other people not to download 1.1.x, why don't you be proactive and come and discuss your problem with me on IRC. Your experience of 1.1.x is not the experience of the majority of players.

It could be our code that calculates which checkpoint you're trying to select that causes this. I doubt it is checkpoints themselves. We'll look into optimizing this.

You can't change what maps will default to. Either manually update the maps yourself, or wait for the authors too. If you use the map update tool, it'll download it as soon as its updated on the mta center...
-
Well: - edit the map file, set the timelimit to 0 - edit your server config, set the timelimit to 0 - disable instant map change votes - enable respawning Should work...
-
We did think of this, but were were on a tight schedule with a deadline we had to release by in order to get on fileplanet. We certainly will include this in a future release.

The draw distance mod is considered a cheat and will be detected (and it was in 1.0 on servers that were up to date with the definitions anyway).

MTA:SA 1.1 - list of 'problems' to solve in next release
eAi replied to Rocket_Guns's topic in Race Client-side
- Lives should be fairly easy to implement, we'll look into this. - If you're crashing, please report these crashes to us using the error reporter. - As for chat, use IRC for chatting - As for a spectate option, we almost did this but ran out of time. Its somthing that will almost certainly happen, assuming we can get it to work. - Invisible cars I've no idea about, need steps to reproduce. - Hydras can't lock onto targets because it didn't really work before even if appeared to. This may return when we have more time to spend on the cosmetics. - The smoking/drinking is one of the strangest side effects we've seen, obviously we don't suggest our users do either. We'll look into banning such things in MTA:SA when we've got the more important issues out of the way. -
We'll sort this out soon. I can't see your account on the system as m21, but I've not done manual activation before. You might want to ask Kent about this.

Locked, please use the above topic.

[race v1.1] no more alt-tab ..... ?? / client map bug
eAi replied to CoZ's topic in Race Client-side
The map number limit I'm not sure about, we'll look into it. We'll probably try to find a better way to list maps soon. -
As I said in the other thread about this if you're having this problem please come and talk to me in irc (irc.multitheftauto.com #mta), we'll see if we can work out what is causing this as it seems to only happen to a few people but for them its quite an issue, clearly. Please remember we do our best to fix bugs - our QA testing is increddibly rigorous, but sometimes bugs get through that ruin the game for a small minority of people - even in commercially QA'd games. We do our best, but please remember that if you get this freeze, you're in a minority and we'll do our best to fix it - if you come and talk to us about it. From the information here, we've got nothing to go on.
-
That isn't a crash, its a freeze and very few users have reported it. Can anyone who is having this come and chat with me on IRC, we'll see if we can work out what the problem is. If someone has a dual screen setup, even better! irc.multitheftauto.com #mta
-
Well, I hope the rational people here understand why we did it. If waiting 30 minutes is too hard for you, please consider the ammount of time we've put into MTA over the last 3 years.
-
I agree really, I don't see why users are informed that an admin has logged in at all. The admin can do that themselves if they really want to...
-
Here is the link, its at the bottom of the news article on the main page: http://www.mtavc.com/downloads/mta_sa_r11_fix.zip
-
I've never heard of reports of GTA freezing. It might be worth trying to download the fix (see the main page) to see if that possibly helps. I dont think it will, but have a try.
-
If you are crashing please report your crash using the error reporter and tell us the ID number you're given. We can then lookup the crash and either see what you're doing wrong (in some cases) or fix it in the future. There is a small possibility that if you tell us within the next 6 hours or so we can fix it before we provide some non-fileplanet download urls.
-
It should pop up on its own when you crash. You should get somthing like: If you are not registered and logged in it will ask you to login or register on http://center.mtasa.com If it didn't appear on its own, check to see if you have a file called core.dmp in your GTA San Andreas/mta folder.
-
Looks fun. I'll have a play of it if I have a spare moment.
-
Yep, this is somthing we'll try to do.
