Are you saying your game seems "squished" because there is no widescreen option? Can you provide a screenshot?

Strange that installing an unofficial version of DirectX fixed that. But your "fix" is not applicable to the OP's issue, as they are running 7 which has DirectX 11.

As we've said before we cannot support ASI files as they can execute arbitrary code. There doesn't seem to be any source available for this ASI stream fix, so nobody other than the author knows exactly what it does.
