By "it didn't work" do you mean that it didn't install, or didn't fix your issue?
Go to Settings -> Advanced -> change "Single connection" to "On" and try again.
Try deleting the gta_sa.set file located in the GTA San Andreas User Files in your Documents folder/library (Windows Vista and 7 users) or My Documents directory (Windows XP users).
1. Test all three tabs (Internet, LAN and Recent Servers). Are they all blank?
2. Does this link work in your browser? http://1mgg.com/affil/mta
3. Does quick connect work? Pick a server from this list for an IP to test.
4. Try installing the latest patch of MTA:SA.
5. Finally try: Settings->Advanced->Browser speed->Slow
While it's possible to make the drawbridge functional, it'd be something of a different story to hack up sync for it. And like I said, without client or server sources, doing anything synced or reducing desync is impossible.
If all islands were accessible, it'd have to be a separate gamemode (i.e. "map"), something which I can't do at the moment.
I cannot fix the in-client browser at this time.
I can do what you suggested but my intent is to preserve MTA 0.5's gameplay while fixing the bugs I can and adding some features here and there.
Try installing this patch. Also, could you provide a dxdiag report? Press the Windows key + R, type dxdiag, press Enter, click Save all information... and post the contents of the saved log here within Code tags.
There is an external server browser that replaces the in-client server browser.
While a three-island map is possible, there are only 48 synchronized vehicles and spreading them across 3 islands will be very thin.
That explains it pretty well.
Previous versions of MTA for GTA3 and VC use SCM extensively. It's difficult to support and code. SCM is also completely client-side. I believe MTASA hooks functions directly for use by LUA.
The "latest patch of MTA:SA" refers to the release candidate version, which contains stable changes and is recommended for end-users per nightly.multitheftauto.com.
