Everything installed properly as far as I can tell from the dxdiag log. Still having the problem? If so, use 1.0.5 for now and wait for 1.1 issues to be fixed (just periodically try the nightlies, I suppose). Sorry.
The Ethernet driver did not install properly. Do a Repair install if prompted, or simply uninstall and reinstall it. Did the optical drive firmware update?
Can you hear sounds in map editor?
It would appear that the chipset drivers did not install properly. Can you try reinstalling them?
If you try loading map editor, does that work without issue?
Please do the following for both of your computers:
Install the latest DirectX runtimes
Could you provide a dxdiag report? Press the Windows key + R, type dxdiag, press Enter, click Save all information... and post the contents of the saved log here within Code tags.
There is a version of 0.5 that contains a working server browser, see here if you'd like to play still. Please see if this optical drive firmware will install properly.
I don't know what else to suggest, except to continue to use 1.0.5 to play MTA:SA. Sorry.
Please install the following:
Graphics driver
Audio driver
Ethernet driver (do a Repair install if prompted)
Latest patch of MTA:SA
Latest DirectX runtimes
Provide another dxdiag log after installing all of these.
Your laptop is very dated, and does not meet the minimum system requirements for running MTA:SA. It'd be simply luck if you got it running acceptably well. You can try installing the following, which might help:

Touchpad driver
Chipset driver

That's fine, the first one is all I need. You have the latest firmware on your device. I suppose it's simply malfunctioning, or there is an issue with your system configuration.
If you acquire a copy of Windows 7, you can install it using a USB flash drive.
Click the Start orb -> type "Device Manager" -> hit Enter -> expand "DVD/CD-ROM drives" -> double click the Optiarc AD-7201S5 device -> go to the Details tab -> change the dropdown of "Property" to "Hardware Ids" -> paste the first value here.
