Hi people! Same drill as usual. The year is nearing to an end, so here is a freshly baked summary post for you. Read on and learn about all the interesting things that happened in the MTA community in 2021. 2021 in Recap Early this year, we have restructured our Moderation team a bit by adding the Specializations divisions (such as: Management, Tech and Infrastructure, Social Media). The aim of this was to refine extra talents of our Moderators and put them to a better use. As one of the results of that, the Management division has introduced a new way for more-involved-but-not-quite-there-yet MTA supporters to contribute - a Helper role. Curious about what it is? Check out the post by Tut. At the end of July, our developer and designer, Patrik, has revived the live streaming idea a bit and played some MTA:SA on our Twitch channel. He focused on visiting various servers ran by the community. In case you have missed it, you can check the stream capture here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n2KcspT0F0A There were a few recurring requests that you guys have kept asking us about over the years. One of them was to release the mobile version of MTA:SA - apologies, but unfortunately that is still not going to happen ?. But another request was to make it possible to buy some official MTA merchandise. And guess what - we have listened to you on that one! Patrik has prepared some neat designs and we have put them for sale - although please keep in mind, we do not make any profits of these sales. Want to see the goods? Check them out here: https://multitheftauto.myspreadshop.net/all Not that long ago, in early October, we have released Multi Theft Auto: San Andreas 1.5.9. This release was focused on wrapping up the contributions made to the mod so far and put them in a single package for your convenience. Same month, Rockstar Games has announced an upcoming release of "Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy - The Definitive Edition", a remake/remaster of the original 3D era GTA trilogy (GTA3, GTA:VC and GTA:SA). Not only was it a sudden announcement, but also the release was coming really soon. The remastered games were released, but received mixed reactions from gamers and reviewers. Technical-wise, they are a feat, as games were remade in a different and well-established game engine and are available for multiple platforms. Sadly, the same could not be said about the actual quality of these games as it was inconsistent. Hopefully, the improvements planned by Rockstar will bring them up to the quality they deserve. It is important to note that MTA mods (GTA3:MTA, MTA:VC and MTA:SA) do not work with the remastered games from the GTA: The Trilogy. We currently have no plans of making them compatible, as it would require an insane amount of effort, considering the technical differences between the original games and their remastered equivalents. Lately, our Development and Infrastructure divisions have been working on improving the reliability and performance of our web services. You may have noticed that for instance, our forums have been running faster - it is all a result of CiBeR's hard work. One of our distinguished community members, Haxardous, has prepared a list of interesting MTA:SA servers. If you are looking for a new MTA:SA server to play on, then you might want to check out one of his recommendations. You can find them here. ModDB has recently featured all of the mods that won the "Mod of the Year" award in the last 20 years. We had won this award ten years ago, so naturally we are on the list too! On a side note, our community on Discord keeps growing. We went from 20k users last year to nearly 40k this year. Our presence on social media (Twitter, YouTube, Twitch, Facebook and Reddit) is improving too - thanks to work done by Patrik and the Social Media division. --- Enjoy the holidays and hope to see you back in the next year! -- MTA Team6 points

Hi, I've finally discovered the problem. Thanks to @IIYAMA for giving me log code. The problem was that he(the user that made his money upper than 99,999,999) was using takePlayerMoney to make his money less than 0$ and by making it minus(-), it's go on and on to make it plus(+) and when it get to <<plus>>, the money will start as a number that is more than 99,999,999... Thanks for the info ?3 points

Hi Guys, I'm a scripter and I saw something creepy in my server! There was a use that had more than 99,999,999 Money in his server's bank account! Even I can't have more than 99,999,999 in my server! How did he do that? Does anyone have any idea? My guess is that he's using a pannel or something like that. But I'll be thankfull if anyone could help me! A part of my code: function buy( root ) if getPlayerMoney(root) >= 100000000 then -- My Code end end How this condition become true: if getPlayerMoney(root) >= 100000000 then? There was a user that ...2 points

After our long presence on ModDB, today is the day we all have been waiting for. We are really proud to announce that we have ranked no. 1 in Player's Choice category in this year's ModDB Mod of the Year Awards! We would like to thank you all, our dear players and contributors, for your continued support. This would have never happened without it. It is worth to note that we are the first GTA mod to ever win such an award. We hope that this will bring a bigger attention to GTA modding as a whole, as there are still a lot of fresh and amazing things that can be achieved here. In other news, one of our developers, Cazomino05, has been experimenting with adding support for removing default objects from the GTASA map since the last release. This had led to the introduction of a few new scripting functions. These functions are: removeWorldModel, restoreWorldModel and restoreWorldModels, and they will be available in the upcoming MTA:SA 1.3. You can see example screenshots below: First screenshot shows the object that will be removed, and the next two show the Fire Depot, which was placed in the free spot. It will probably be a while before we can release 1.3, but you can test these functions today by installing a 1.3 nightly build. As an ending note, we wish you all Happy Holidays and a Happy New Year! -- MTA Team1 point

The script security principle that others explained to you (never trust the client) apply at all times. But a working Lua injector is extremely unlikely and rare, just as there isn't one at the moment. And the reason im saying this is because it indicates that in your case, this situation at hand, there is a scripting bug somewhere in your code. Something that lets players 'boost' (stat pad) their money or enter the amount they want through some manipulation.. that should move your focus towards reviewing all of your resources which can potentially set player's money, or other generalized vulnerabilities such as resources that act as a 'non real' Lua injector on player's demand.. such as a resource that has a file in its directory that can be loaded with loadstring, where the contents can be added into. That's a very stupid mistake that nullifies the scripting security level of a server, but it does happen regularly, also as a backdoor - always be careful who you trust to send you resources to use. Also keep an eye on admin and admin runcode logs, to see if your admins/scripters aren't setting their own (or a friended player's) money somehow. @TiTawN1 point

Happy holidays guys, been loving MTA ever since I first started playing it in 2013.1 point

you're right, but that's in GTA, I guess in MTA It's 99,999,999. How did he passed 99,999,999$?! We used givePlayerMoney & setPlayerMoney in our codes, but we were unable to pass 99,999,999!1 point
-
Well I do not know where they used the bug code and how they bypassed (getPlayerMoney) which could not be more than 99,999,999. Where is this bug code?1 point
-
How did he raise his money to 99,999,999 with givePlayerMoney or setPlayerMoney? Did he do this with spam?1 point
-
Well, I also trust the client variable and use getPlayerMoney to get paid, but when a player's money does not exceed 99,999,999 if getPlayerMoney(root) >= 100000000 then -- My Code end Why is this code true?1 point

Not enough information, really. By "server's bank account", do you mean some money system separate from the money that's shown in the HUD? I assume you might be using element data to store money, and since setElementData allows the client to modify the element data as seen by the server, cheaters can fabricate it and set it to whatever they want. If that is the problem you're having, you have to detect when the element data gets modified by a client using onElementDataChange and reset it to the old value. It would look something like this: function undoMoneyChangeByClient(theKey, oldValue, newValue) -- if the variable 'client' is set, that means the element data change was done by a player if client and theKey == "money" then setElementData(source, theKey, oldValue) end end addEventHandler("onElementDataChange", root, undoMoneyChangeByClient) It's the same kind of thing as "Validating client setElementData" section in the page that @The_GTA posted a link to.1 point

Hello TiTawN, have you taken the considerations related to Script security into account? It is a real threat that is not expected by many server owners or script writers!1 point

What is a Helper? Helpers are regular members of the Community who dedicate some of their time to help others. They are recognized by MTA for standing out as friendly and helpful support for scripting, technical and other topics. Helpers serve as role models for the Community and are easily approachable for general advice, problem solving or pointing to the right direction. Helpers can move threads into the correct sections, but cannot assist with moderation, unless they are also a Moderator. They can be identified by their unique rank and colored name. How can I become a Helper? Helpers are recruited through invitation only. There is no way to apply for this role, however we are on constant lookout for, and pick members who provide solid, helpful advice over a longer period of time. To make communication easier between MTA Staff and Helpers, they have their own private channels to liaise and discuss general Forum and Discord issues. It is required to have a Forum account in order to become a Helper, but there are no activity requirements. This year, we lost our position at MTA that we have been working for for 15 years, frankly, it has not been a good year for us. Moreover, the MTA manager did not help after stating that he would help, frankly, we were not taken seriously. I hope you won't have any problems like we did, hope the next year will be good.
