Anyways for the pc version of grand theft auto: san andreas for X-box and PC I found that info on Planetgta and this is what they say for the releasing dates from rockstars:

Rockstar Games, the world-renowned publishing label of Take-Two Interactive Software, Inc. (NASDAQ: TTWO), is pleased to announce that Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas is making its way to the Xbox® video game system from Microsoft. Developed by world-class designers Rockstar North, Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas for the Xbox® and PC will be in stores in North America on June 7th, 2005 and in Europe on June 10th, 2005.

Plus volume 3: Grand theft auto 2 has been released.

Respect is everything.

In 1999, Rockstar Games and Rockstar North (then known as DMA Design) furthered the groundbreaking gameplay concepts established just two years prior in the original Grand Theft Auto - with the release of GTA2. GTA2 expanded on the top-down, open-ended crime world gameplay formula with a host of new features including the advent of multiple rival gangs – seven, to be exact, including the Yakuza, Scientists, Looneys, Rednecks, Zaibatsu, the Russian Mob and Hare Krishnas. Earn your respect with each gang. Reap the benefits with all manner of shady work-for-hire gigs contracted your way. And climb your way to the top of the criminal pile.

Now, longtime Grand Theft Auto fans can revisit this classic entry in the series - and new jacks who missed out on this early franchise title can further discover Grand Theft Auto’s roots - absolutely free. GTA2 has been completely optimized for play on modern PCs and is available gratis for all registrants to the Rockstar Games mailing list (rest assured your information will not be shared with any third parties, you will only receive information from Rockstar).

Get it from http://www.rockstargames.com/classics to download gta2 and read the instructions.

I knew about the release date.

But GTA 2 for free! omg that's great, I was just about to order online so thanks for this info!! (downloading might prove more expensive for me though :P ) ma friends know why lol

Might then resurrect the GTA2 online activity :D

I'll go check out the size of that file now...

edit: hmm I get timed out too, those connections must be strained and busy by all those downloads.

Cam read:

# Due to overwhelming response, we have had to limit the number of concurrent connections to our download server. If you receive an error page, please try again later.

but they've always said that in the GTA1 form too :P

I finally got my copy last night :)

Now I need a manual on online play :P

It's not really that hard:-

1. Start GTA2 Manager

2. Click Network tab

3. Select Internet TCP/IP Connection for DirectPlay in available protocols

4. One person starts a network game with nothing in the Protocol Connection box and then creates a new game

5. Other players put the ip address of the first person in the Protocol Connection and start network game, then join the game in the list

Firewalls or a NAT my block people from "directly" connecting with their IP. Forwarding ports and/or changing settings on your router or firewall software may help...

Yeah DomSpy I tried the obvious methods, first removing firewalls and then DMZ my ip, also mb checked if he could join my MTA server. Worked fine.

I read over at gtaforums that the servers taking care of the channel lists, have been long gone.

MB couldn't see any games listed, I'll have to see if I even can get this working for LAN :P

Mack also had a similar problem.

However, I've been able to have games over the internet with a few people.

Try it the other way (the other person hosting). If that works make sure you both have their exe.
