    RAM

lmao Umm is San Andreas one of those games? Because when i play SA, it works fine with a GeForce 6600 AGP (I got a new graphics card to replace that GeForce 2 MX ) and lags just a bit, err, and will it make the comp faster when oyu start it up? Because when i start up my comp, I have to wait like for 30 secs to get to work/play with it properly (probably because of MSN messenger) im not sure about San Andreas, but definately HL2, Doom 3, and even 768MB may not be enough for BF2.
  4. i just solved all my fps-related problems today. i run it at 1024x768 with Visual Effects on 'Very High.' with anti-aliasing at 3x, there were times the framerate would drop to under 15 with lots of shadows. with it off, it almost always stays above 30. i still have the sound issues and random crashes though .

if you play some of the newer games, you should be getting horrible stuttering with 256MB. 768MB will improve that significantly.

    my GTA SA

That's onboard. theres no such thing as a GeForce FX 6600. theres GeForce 6600 and its not onboard.
  7. perhaps there doesnt need to be a jury - the game can decide whether or not you did a stunt correctly. it's the same idea as what you did during flight school in single player - there will be a bunch of rings you have to follow and fly through, and in the end you have to land the plane nicely in the designated area. i think i recall the game keeping track of rolls and loops without any rings involved as well.. that would be even better. this idea can extend to bike stunts and car stunts as well, where you do the same types of stunts as you would in the car and bike schools in single player. there can be a set routine for the planes (made by the mod creator) that has players perform various aerobatic stunts, and competitions can be held where the game keeps track of whether or not you went through all the rings, if you did the rolls and loops, your landing, and your final time.
  8. personally i dont think bitch packing should be allowable in blue. i want the game to be as close to single player as possible, meaning no new glitches. people may be able to create their own mods that allow such things.
  9. Don't kid yourself. There will be no vehicle modding, sorry. uhm...

    wow

im not sure how video card dependant this game is. it seems to run smoothly for me when im not on missions but when i am in one, the framerate often goes under 20 fps. thats why im thinking it might be more cpu and ram dependent. i have a 6600GT, P4 2.26 GHz, and 512 MB PC2700.

i just got SA a few days ago, and the graphics really do look a bit better than the PS2 version. i can get some low FPS sometimes though. this seems to happen mostly during missions. in fact, when im doing a mission it often drops down to under 20 fps, but when im just driving around or shooting cops it stays at around 30. something else that's strange is that the keyboard and mouse inputs seem delayed. even when im getting smooth frames (in the 30's and 40's), it seems like the cars just dont react right away when i turn. the same might be true on foot, but i need to play around with it some more to make sure. im having a few sound problems with it too - both using 5.1 speakers and headphones. often times during a mission where people are inside your car talking, their voices are either too quiet or totally unhearable. also, i just noticed today when i was doing amulance missions that at some points the cars engine would go quiet and i would only hear the stuff thats going on outside. the thing that bothers me most though, is the crashes. the game crashed 3 times in the last two days. when (or if) i get these issues sorted out, i think it should be a really enjoyable game though. interesting.. will disabling hardware acceleration take out the possible audio problems, so that i can see whether or not thats the problem?
  12. i like that last idea, dont see how it would work though. also, it would be interesting to know if the devs plan on putting working bodyshops into MTA.

my computer is more than fast enough to run GTA3 and VC, but for some reason, they just dont like computer - especially GTA3. i get major slowdowns and stutters when cars are crashing into stuff on screen or poles are falling, or fences, etc. i hope they fixed this in SA and i will get smoother performance.
  14. I agree, the map shouldn't be restricted. People should have the ability to wander off and go exploring wherever and as far as they want to. There's no advantage in limiting the playing area vs. leaving the map open, lag or stability-wise. As MrBump suggested, all of the spawns/vehicles/pickups/etc should be put in a specific area, making it as large as possible while keeping the cars within walking distance of eachother. This way, it will be easier to find other players in the server as most will probably stick around the starting area. That's the best solution I can think of to the problem of SA's huge map size isolating players from eachother. I don't know if this is possible, but it would also be a good idea to have the server be able to change spawn areas on the fly, while players are in the server, on request of an admin or player vote. How this would work is, the MTA team would divide San Andreas up into 15 or so areas (of course that number would depend on how large each spawn area can be and therefore how many vehicles the SA engine can hold at one time) covering the whole map of San Andreas, that can be changed from one to the other while players are in the game. For example, we have a server running SA with an initial spawn/vehicle/pickup area at Palomino Creek. Eventually the players get bored of that area and vote to change the spawn location to Downtown, San Fierro. when enough votes are cast, the server will change the location to Downtown, moving all of the spawn points, vehicles, and pickups to the new area whithout the server having to restart or the players having to exit the game. The pickups will simply disappear from Palimono Creek and re-appear in the newly selected spawn location. Vehicles will appear in the new location once they are blown up, or are idle (not being used) for a long enough period of time. Of course, it does not have to be a player vote that changes the spawn location. The admin might have the ability to do it, or better yet, servers might cycle through certain (chosen) spawn locations, changing them every 20 minutes or so. I think this would be great if it was possible, because it's the best way, if not the only way, to give players a taste of the whole state of San Andreas, rather than just small portions of it. Can it be done?
  15. i think it will be easy to implement a friendly fire option.
  16. glad you guys enjoyed it the original files were huge, in all over 25 GB, but put together and rendered as a .wmv, its only 40 MB.
  17. i think hes saying that there may be traces of it left over on the PC version. however im not sure if this coop mode (if its in there) will be of use in multiplayer mods.
  18. thanks for all of the reviews, im glad you enjoyed it they werent. i can assure you that 100% of the footage is real, NONE of it was staged (with a couple of exceptions like the shot at the very end and the shot towards the end with slothman flying upsidedown trying to hit me). many times in a dodo duel people dont pay attention and dont see the dodo coming until its too late. other times they dont move because they're focusing on doing as much damage as possible to it and want to get a good shot when its close.
  19. This movie is based on a huge collection of footage that I have recorded (over 25 GB) from GTA3:MTA dodo duel events. I started it back in August of last year and since then I've been slacking off on it a lot, but yesterday I finally decided to finish it. There is so much footage that you'll likely see yourself in there if you regularly play dodo duel. I hope you enjoy it. Tell me what you think. 20. SA: probably the Elegy, but i havent played that game enough to really make an accurate decision. VC: the Comet because its much more rare than other fast cars, and cause i love porsches. III: the Mafia Sentinel, donno why, its just really awesome and black. plus i like the mafia.

  22. i would buy a new processor as well as motherboard. i dont think its a good idea to waste money on a CPU right now for a motherboard that you will have to replace soon anyway. i would go for a Skt 939 nForce4 mobo and a cheap 3200+ or 3000+ CPU. it should last you for a while as it will support the future dual core processors. this way you will buy a futureproof PCI-E video card as well. if you dont want to spend all that money now though, i recommend getting a cheaper card like a 6600 and saving up for your next upgrade. if you buy that 6800GT with your current setup, the CPU will be a huge bottleneck, and again i dont think its wise to pour money into a new CPU for that aging system. also keep in mind that your next motherboard will most likely be PCI-E, and you wont be able to use your nice, new $300 video card in it.
  23. when a folder in my hard drives main directory called "temp" got deleted by some dumbass spy-ware uninstaller. i went to add/remove programs to uninstall some piece of spyware crap (bargain buddy i think), and when i pressed uninstall in its uninstaller program it started to remove lots of shit, and also my temp folder . i had at least 30 gigabytes of stuff in there... lots of pictures, website layouts, tons of video (that can never be recovered ), a list of all my serial keys in a .txt file (for backup or quick reference), and just lots and lots of the most valuable stuff on my hard drive .
  24. Are there currently motherboards that support both PCI-E and AGP? If so, are there any high performance ones that have this dual support? And will there be any good motherboards in the future (about 6 months to a year from now) that still support AGP? The reason I am asking this is because I am planning on buying a new, high-end, AGP video card. I would buy a PCI-E one but my current motherboard (an old SiS 648 chipset one) only supports AGP8X. So when it comes time to upgrade my aging motherboard, I want the new one to still support my AGP video card. Thanks in advance.
