  1. Damn, it would be a really nice feature. Especially for helicopters! Yeh, I can imagine that. "Your fuel ran out" - "Need a parachute!" - BAM. I think I like that feature.
  2. The Idea could be, that you have an "overall traffic light signal", like the current time (since most computers have a very exact clock). When a player joins, the server sends a signal, like "variable is 3556 now", and this variable gets set +1 every ms (or 100 ms), maybe synced every 30 seconds. And according to this data, the clients would be capable of "finding out" how to set the traffic lights, like, when a traffic light faces north/south, it has to be red when the variable x%1000 < 500, else it would be green. Facing west/east, it would have to be x%1000>500. Just an idea. Or make a client side command which sets the traffic lights. That way, the Scripter would decide what to do.

It is a one-hit kill. I know, I know, change it a bit and it heals the player. But, the firing rate could be changed my way, too. With some new script commands, you can write something like: "setWeaponFiringRate", "setWeaponDamage" and "setWeaponRange" and "setWeaponWieldType", so you can make, i.e. the MP5 a dual wield weapon, the DesertEagle a sniper and the Gatling Gun (when you change the model of the gatling) some sort of futuristic impulse cannon which is used first player.

  5. I know that window mode has some crazy bugs in it, and that it only meant for scripting. i just wanted to tell someone about it because it is so unexpected! Just thought you would want to know about it. as this is the Bug section, isnt it? Since I have widescreen, and cannot turn widescreen off or on in MTA atm, I use the windowed mode very often even for playing.

I won't post the offsets here, but with some changes in the GTA data, you can change the weapon range, weapon damage, etc. This would be an interesting feature for the future releases, because it would enable the administrator to, maybe, power down the minigun, or power up the desert eagle to a one-shot-killer.

    Super desync

    I tried to "find out" what causes the desync and my experience is, there is two sorts of desync, the hard desync, and the temporary one (temporary is supposed to be bad connection, so never mind that one). The hard desyncronisation: I will try not to state theories i have about it, only what I managed to experience: 1) The desyncronisation is player independent. That means, when I "float" for another player, that does not mean I float for anyone else. 2) The longer the opponent is alive and online, the higher the probability that I float for the enemy. 3) When I float for the enemy, reconnecting, dieing, getting in a car, jumping does NOT change the bug. I only unfloat when I actually kill the player I am floating for. 4) The possibility of you floating for another player is higher, when the other player has a bad computer and a bad connection (not 100% sure about that. It might only be the "bad computer" stuff. I was able to play against FMJ about 50 minutes without one single float. Ok, we were killing each other often.) 5) restarting the gamemode "unfloats" everyone. 6) freshly joined players may instantly float for players which are already online. 7) I never experienced someone else floating for me when I freshly joined the server. Other players only started floating for me when I stayed online several minutes. shutting down the MTA client and restarting it, then reconnecting to the server does NOT unfloat me, just like the "reconnection". 9) Hard floating players often run in circles a weird way, as if their running animation was stuck. While doing this, their character runs off the real position and is about 5-10 meters away from the player himself. 10) players normally only start floating in the distance or when they spawn after being killed. 11) Edit: When you stay near the player you are floating for, you have good chances to become sync again. 12) Edit: Somewhat it has nothing to do with the distance to the player you are floating for. So, forget 11, just take a rocketlauncher and blow him away. Gentlemen, I hope I was able to help. For explanation: "floating" means: When I float for you, I have no animation on your computer, I cannot shoot you, I cannot hit you.
  8. Is this server independent? Some scripts force weaponchange on mwup or down.
  9. You can set the speed of those missiles. Heatseeking missiles just have a limited reaction time. If the speed of the rocket is too high, it turns towards the player, but not fast enough.

  13. If it works somehow i would give the puplic an offizial "Bugsearch" release, cause i am sure a crowd can find the bugs more easiely than a small team.
  14. I have ever thought that my name stands left of my post, but: I'm Phat Looser, and i will always be. I got the Numbers etc, because when i go on an almost emty server, and the two or four ppl on the server are all cheating around, i.e. using jetpack, showing each other mapmods etc, i talk to them. As long as they don't use it to make ppl angry or kill them, and as long as nobody cares about, i don't bother if they cheat or not. I also take some looks into their Forum, and i also look myself through the mods they made, because i am interested what and how they modded. Blue will not bring more cheaters. Why should the number of cheaters change? It is always the same ppl cheating.

  16. then you dont know most cheaters.. be open to the fact that cheaters are not mindless and this topic might acually go somewhere.. I know them very well. Extremely well. I have been playing with and against cheaters since 0.3.1r2, most of them can be glad if a selfmade mtad.scm won't crash on the first try. They may be able to mod something little, but most are lazy like hell. Even the handling.cfg has to be a modded one from a "specialist". Cracking a Client is something just two or three are in fact able to do - of over 40 ppl. This topic goes to them, right, but those who are able to crack the client will see the stuff soon enough, and the rest would not be able to change it, or, as far as i know them, they will be much to lazy to look through the Registry just to find the Key of this one Server, as long as there will be other Servers to go to. Theres always a Server with no Admin. And on those Servers, even an obvious cheat is no problem. Of course, the Folders in the Reg where the ID is saved will be found soon, but it will take them at least one or two days to spread this information. As i said, it will be necessary to change the Folder every week. Those who have some brains between their ears reduce the cheating to some "advantages", i.e. more Ammo, or invincible tires which most people they play against can't see at all. Cheaters are not the illuminatis.
  17. The servers could easyly change the Directory. I don't see the Problem when you look for an id, if theres a Steam ID or something like it in planning, you will always have to control it. After what the MTA-Team was able to made, it should be no problem for them any more to make the Server create a random ID with 10 Characters - which allows many combinations, so that no cheater would be able to change it that easyly (and be able to steal nicks) and save the IDs created. I think my idea is fine, because: Anything you do, there will always be a cheater who breaks through the ID. The only way to prevent it is to invent a technology which can change the place of the ID every week - prob is just to delete the old ID - and at least, gives the n00bcheaters, which are overflowing the Servers, a headache, because they can't handle it. I have never seen a cheater who was really a hacker. Most of them just download some premade proggies and feel like god bcz they can use a mod ingame. Most of them even don't make the mods themselfes. Shortend up, the Idea is, to make cheating more complex, so that "normal" cheaters would have to work hard to get through cheating. It also makes it possible to prevent nickstealers from stealing nicks.
  18. I love rose-tinted-glasses, as long as i can fly VCNmav's. In fact, and i have to say that, in 5.0 were much less crashed than in any other version. The lag got smaller, there were more ppl per server, with the same bandwidth. But theres still cheaters, and there is no VCN. NO VCN. How shall i have fun with them?
  19. I visited some old Unreal servers, and they needed a File to Ident yourself. What if the Client creates a Identification code for every Server you visited? Example, Visit Server KFC (nothing against clans) and the Server tells the Client where in the Registry a new Key shall be created, creates a personnal ID, and every time you connect to the Server, it demands the Client to look at that registry adress for the ID. It wouldn't even change by reinstalling the Client, because the Reg is not touched (in this place). When the Admin knows how to use that feature, there will be a HIDDEN ID FOR EVERY SERVER. Per server another hiding place. You would have to look through the whole registry to find and change the key. And, be honest, after installing some softwares, your Registry already is a big dustbin where nobody can look through. This some more codes would take no effect. The server would just have to make an new id every new Player visits it.
  20. In fact, there were so many bugs inside, the game was just fair. Everyone knew them, and the one who was able to use most was mainly the winner No, in fact, i loved it because the VCN was still in, AND there were always enough cheaters to blow away with the Chopperblades. Now, these idiots are such advanced, they even modded the Helis - i HATE that, the golden Times of Chopperflighters are over.
  21. I also used it, but in the meantime, it got boring. But you need the Pause. I mean, sometimes you have to look at the map, to see where other ppl are and how wide they are spread. So what will you do? Will you let the time go on while pausing? It would be the only idea, and i am sure that gta still runs in the background while you are in Pause, but sets the Timespeed to 0 (Matrix-style, muhaha).
  22. Yo, smooth is the right word. Well, I got DSL so the lag because of the needed bandwidth is no Prob. But: expect what happened when someone tried to crash or disconnect me with /msg-spamming - rite. nothing. Normally that kicked everyone out. I was even able to play with NO bigger lag. Very good work. Due to the F9 key, no bother at all . After seeing what has happened to DM, i began to play Stunt. Good, i was a 0.3.1 gamer before, and i still like 0.3.1, but Stunt is really cool. The only thing i have an idea for is the Boost: instead of using 3 setspeeds with a wait 100? command i would take something more realistic, like: wait 2?ms 1@ = current carspeed 2@ = 1@ 2@ /= 80! 3@ = 1! - - - - - - - - these 3@ /= 2@ - - - - - - - 2 lines just invert 2@/80 to 80/2@; 3@ = 80/1@ 1@ *= 3@ Set carspeed = 1@ (I hope the formula is right and i made no mistake in these 50 seconds of intensive thinking of coka cola. Mathematiks, help the stupid physician) and repeat it 15-30 times. Its Barton-waterduck-code-like. ;-P But well, its just my idea. And to the balance of the Playertypes: I think, in fact, that decides the player. In BF1942 for example, almost no one takes the engineer because he is weak in close combats and not so good in shooting far shots. But he still exists, for those who like his repairing powers. There was, in fact, never a need to balance anything. The Playertypes which were not Robber or Mexican were mostly used by those who needed theyr powers, like Regeneration or Shields.
