  1. Basically encryption changes something into another form so that it is unreadable. It's similar to "languages" that outlaws used in the olden days, where they would convert English characters to other characters so that people couldn't read them unless they knew the code. Obviously at some point, the computer will need to decrypt the files in order to read them again, and therein the problem lies.
  2. You need the MTAMA admin utility available from http://home.deds.nl/~aeron/ This utility requires mIRC ( http://www.mirc.com ) and enables you to run scripts on your server. One recommended script package would be MTAMA: GRS, available here: http://forum.mtavc.com/viewtopic.php?t=8788
  3. Betrayed? That's a strong word. They've shifted their focus from GTA3 / VC to SA. How is that betraying the community? Why should they keep trying to squeeze more and more out of an ageing core when they've got something better lined up? Also note that they HAVEN'T actually said that 0.5.5 has been cancelled - that was just community speculation.
  4. Whatever your criticisms may be, I think it's better that he's trying to create an anti-cheating program rather than a trainer, no matter what degree of success he has had in doing so.
  5. MTA requires FULL versions of either GTA3, Vice City or both for PC only. It does not work on consoles. It is available from the homepage http://www.mtavc.com (ignore the "vc" part - it covers both versions).
  6. Oops... I was good at maths but crap at mental arithmetic.
  7. If this flaming continues, I will be forced to lock this. P.S. If the year in your name is your year of birth, that would mean that you're a kid as well.
  8. If EvenBalance (I think that's what they're called) find out, they'll send him a "cease and desist" letter asking him to change the name or they'll take further action (i.e. suing him). It's a lot easier for both parties concerned, so he doesn't actually need to change the name unless he receives such a letter.
  9. Which page of the Task Manager are you looking at? Is it this one: or this one? The first one only tends to display visible applications. MTA could still be running, but not displaying in that list. Check on the second tab for MTAClient.exe and if it is running, close it.

    flying ?

Could be 2 things: 1. They're cheating. 2. They're actually driving a helicopter but there's desync between your two computers and so you see it as a car instead of a heli.
  11. they can, but they won't. They can give you a month, for sure, but it doesn't mean that they can make that particular deadline. What's the point in saying "Oh, it might be August but then again it might not be"? And what good is knowing anyway? You still have to wait.
  12. Yeah, that NOLF mission that I described earlier enabled you to shoot from a parachute. The idea was to balance shooting at the people shooting at you so that you didn't die with trying to catch up with the person below you.
  13. Dream on. Even if they do get the coding completed by then (unlikely), they'll still have to test it.
  14. It's MTA-related, isn't it? I think it may be useful to people in Germany.
  15. You said that there wouldn't be sufficient demand after MTA:SA, so why would people play MTA:VC if it's bundled with MTA:SA? I'd like to see a Blue version of Vice City after MTA:SA, and I'm sure many other people in the community would like this as well. Each game has a very different style and feel to it. I like the '80s feel of VC and the brooding tone of GTA3. The only thing I can see preventing a Blue release of VC is if someone creates a VC mod for SA like GTA:LC.
  16. Blue is the name of the technology that they use, not a name for a specific version of MTA. When MTA:SA comes out, Blue will "come out" also. When the mtablue.info page was written, MTA:SA had not been announced (I'm not even sure that San Andreas had been announced), so it was originally intended for Vice City. Since then, there has been a massive amount of community demand for a San Andreas version of MTA so they have put this as a priority. When MTA:SA has reached a satisfying level for them (this may take multiple releases), they may choose to release a new version for Vice City that runs on the Blue core, providing that demand still exists for it.
  17. MTA:SA will be tested in-team at first (they do not need any new testers at the present time) before being released to the public. This release will be a public beta, like all previous versions of MTA, which means that some features will still need to be implemented and there may be some bugs. Your next question is likely to be "when will it be released?" so I'll answer that one as well. The MTA team do not make a habit of stating release dates because of problems in the past, although I would imagine that we will not be waiting a great deal of time due to competition from other mod makers.
  18. Nah, that was Vice City. In GTA3 they didn't use commercial music.
  19. I don't really like the SA radio stations much. Vice's were excellent but SA's aren't really anything special, so probably my favourite would be Plush by Stone Temple Pilots. Favourite VC song is probably Pale Shelter by Tears For Fears, but it's a tough choice. Haven't played GTA3 for ages so I can't really remember the music.
  20. Ah, i see now. The IP address is the internet address of the server. In order to connect to a different server, you need a different address. In order to get more servers, click on the Servers button on the MTA client dialog or visit http://www.game-monitor.com and paste in the IPs and ports.

    I'm baaaaaaaaack

Back for good this time, me?
  22. I think the problem here is that he's running a server locally and trying to connect via his internet IP but it gets stopped by the router because it doesn't know which machine to forward the data to. In order to connect to yourself, type localhost into the IP box.
  23. Er... the site where you could download it would be this one, obviously.
  24. There was a mission like that in No One Lives Forever. You had a guy below you with a parachute and you had to reach him within a certain time in order to steal it (the actually stealing was done via a cutscene) whilst other guys were shooting at you from above.
