  1. Sounds like this error (from Known Issues):
  2. The GTA multiplayer community is pretty small so news travels fast. Stanton leaked the files onto this very forum if I recall correctly, although it got removed pretty quickly.

    Windows Vista

Well, Microsoft sued Lindows (a Linux variant) for sounding too much like Windows so they deserve it in my opinion.
  4. I meant in general. When 0.4 was released, I thought there would be a ~50:50 or 60:40 player ratio between VC and GTA3, but the ratio is significantly larger than this.
  5. I'd say that's a better description of the publisher than the developer.
  6. How can we get more people to play GTA3? I currently think Shoreside's DM is better than VC's.
  7. Another way to get money in GTA3 is to crash into other cars. You get a few dollars for doing so (even if no-one's in them).

    Windows Vista

Microsoft have released the name of their next OS - Windows Vista ("Longhorn" was only a codename). Isn't that just the stupidest name you've ever heard? They've also set up a site for it: http://www.microsoft.com/windowsvista/default.mspx I particularly like the way that the picture emphasises just how long we've got to wait for it to be released (late 2006). I hate to think how long it would take if they hadn't cut out certain features.
  9. agreed, however alot of people who know mirc scripting also know c++. Two things may happen though: 1. People may decide to learn C++ 2. Blue may attract more C++ coders to the forum
  10. I think so, but I'd appreciate it if someone could explain the concept in non-technical terms because I'm not certain if I understand it correctly.

    NO PEOPLE :(((

You've got to love Google's translation function Anyway, this is perfectly normal. MTA does not feature pedestrians because they would contribute greatly to overall lag and server resource usage. The pros and cons of doing so have been discussed many times.
  12. The only reason I can see for Rockstar buying out MTA is to prevent them from making the modification, but they can easily do that with a lawsuit should they wish to. It would probably be easier for Rockstar to create multiplayer themselves because they have access to GTA's source code.
  13. I've just seen an article on NewScientist describing how a scientist has discovered how to create "bullet time" slow motion on one person's screen whilst making everything normal on the affected player's screen. I wondered if this would be possible with Blue in order to allow syncing of GTA's slow-mo pills (incidentally, does SA have these?) http://www.newscientist.com/article.ns?id=dn7703
  14. Talidan, I doubt they can put significant checks in place that will prevent modding. Remember that GTA3 came with no tools or support at all and the community built up tools from scratch. Determined people get results. I agree that they'll most likely just remove the Hot Coffee code. It's easier than creating some sort of complicated anti-modding protection.

    GTA:VC Patch?

I think you're getting slightly confused. The server does not require GTA at all in order to run - it just processes network information. There is a patch available for the server to fix some bugs. The client handles everything else. You can connect to a server with either 1.1 or 1.0. This is because the 1.1 patch only fixes one bug related to graphical corruption. If you don't experience graphical corruption, you don't need the patch (I think it was fixed in subsequent graphics driver releases). This is in contrast with GTA3, in which 1.1 made significant changes, and therefore MTA only works with 1.1.
  16. ... so therefore Blue and MTA:SA will both arrive at the same time. However, to answer what I assume your question is (MTA:VC vs MTA:SA on Blue), MTA:SA is the current priority at the moment. They have stated that there will most likely be multiple SA releases and they will focus on other areas (such as VC and possibly GTA3) when MTA:SA has reached a satisfactory level.
  17. Nope, but it's moddable so someone's bound to try to sync NPCs.
  18. So they're raising it from 17+ to 18+? Is there much difference? It's 18 over here anyway so it'll probably stay the same. Under-17's can get hold of the game already so what difference will the 18 rating make?
  19. Do you have a joystick plugged in? They can cause this sometimes, even when you don't touch them.
  20. This help section is only for version 0.5. This could also be the reason why you can't connect to a 0.4.1 server.

    lmao

Looks like a problem with your graphics card and / or drivers. You could try updating them.

    GTA3?

No-one knows. If there's enough demand for it, they'll do it.
  23. I prefer the RSS idea for two reasons: 1) It's easier because you don't need to keep a database of people's email addresses and have to sort out stuff like de-subscription etc. 2) A newsletter would be expected to be sent on a regular basis
  24. There are a lot of sites still linking to http://www.multitheftauto.com/blue.php (if I recall correctly). It would be better if you set it to forward people to the mtablue.info page instead of displaying a 404.
