There is no excuse. I've always adminned this way, and I've had tremendous success with it. So you are saying that a server should be judged how skilled the players are? The quality of the players is what matters most. And it takes a good admin to get good players. An admin's job should be to keep players in line but at the same time make sure the players are having fun. Then get someone else to admin! Is it really so difficult? Is maintaining some kind of tight inner circle so important to you? I'm sure there are plenty of good people out there that would make good admins; admins who would be just but attentive.

I believe Australian version has some modifications because they refused to release Vice City without certain things cut out. I think hookers was one of the things they removed.

The latest version of MTA is 0.3-rc2. In ASE, just click on "Other" under the Multi Theft Auto filter on the left side of the screen. That will filter out all of the 0.3 servers.

I am right now quite impressed with what eAi is doing. He's posted in another thread about his program MTA-AntiCheat. That program bans by hardware id, and that is extremely difficult to change. I don't know exactly what he means by that, but I know it is not the MAC address. I think it is like the serial numbers of the hardware in your computer; I highly doubt a cheater would take out a CDROM to get out of a ban

I like the idea very much of playing MTA on Linux.

Usually I have noticed the people that use the run up and shoot tactics with the stub are mainly clan people. This is a more effective tactic for clan type matches because it is an effective method to kill. However, it is not effective when going against a group of people, because this method can only kill one by one. Every time some unlucky robber tried using this tactic on either me or one of my friends, I have always gunned them down while they were hopeslessly circling my friend. My friends have done the same for me as well. Usually the only time a robber has succeeded in using this tactic is when my friends and I were separated. blah: If you want to counter shotguns in an evil way, pack a few grenades with you. When the robber gets close, tap the fire key so the grenade just drops into the ground. Most of the time, the robber does not notice it until you start running away. The first grenade should knock the robber down, and a second should finish the robber.

Then there should be more admins! Just a few admins can't do the job. That has already been proven with how the official servers are set up. I have never been able to reach an admin when one is needed; all of them were idle.

...are extremely disappointing. So far I haven't found any admins that actually interact with the players, welcome new players, and listen to the players. Most of the admins I have seen are ban crazy fools. What an admin should be doing is talking to the players to make sure they are having a good time on his server. The more the players like the admin the more times they will come back to that admin's server. Drawn by the player count, other players will come as well. Thus, that server's popularity will increase. And that is how it should be done. I consider a server a lot like a business; you have to satisfy your customers, not order them around. I speak from experience when I say all of this, because I have run many extremely successful servers for other games. I hope to see a change in admins, and I think that will bring about a change in players as well. The better players get to know the admin and like the admin, the more they will discourage others from doing wrong and report to the admin. An admin's presence should be a reward, not a punishment.

Set your correct game version.

Try this. Go to C:\Windows\mta.ini, and make sure there is a section like this: [game-exe] location=pathtogta-vc.exe Even though the new version of MTA added a new section, [game-vc], this worked and I never got mta_dll.dll errors again.
