  1. hub is the same as router No, it isn't. poseyjmac, if you are using a hub, I suggest you switch to a switch or router. The hub will cause your network to lag like crazy.
  2. If your computer is capable (It probably is considering the fact that you are running Vice City to begin with), install Windows XP. I think you will like it a lot better than 98.
  3. Oh c'mon, find the guns yourself. The game will get boring very quickly if you know where all of the guns are. Also, this is better because you get to search every square foot of Vice City, and that can be fun because you can find lots of places to do stunts.
  4. Some of those weapons may not be one kill in multiplayer because you are actually going up against a player with 100 health plus armor possibly. So, it will probably work out I'm hoping to see legit sniper rifles I guess that will happen when the target modes work in mta.
  5. Its called Jesus-mode! rofl
  6. Where is this LAN? At home or somewhere else? If you are at home, are you using a hub (not a switch or router)?
  7. I think that it will be fine. What I am more interested in is the vehicles they each get. Especially the Mexicans; the movie did not show what they get.
  8. Sure, the rest of the guys do play bf1942/Desert Combat and we all play Half-Life (You are gonna have to ask us individually which mods we play, we all play several.) We also play roms over netplay. You can ask them on our "LNK BF1942" section on our message boards or on our irc chat room.
  9. I personally don't think balancing is a problem. This isn't an fps, it takes lots of shots to kill someone. Therefore, if you develop some kind of strategy, you will succeed.
  10. LNK is not really a clan or a gang. It is mainly a community for people who play many different games including Battlefield 1942, Half-Life, Unreal Tournament 2k3, Earth and Beyond, and more. We play games, chat, and make logos (like the one above), wallpapers, and animated gifs. Anyone is welcome. This does not require any sort of membership or initiation. You don't have to wear any tags (even though some of us do to show support) or anything like that; all we ask is that you participate, behave yourself, and most of all: enjoy and have fun! You can find us at: http://www.latenightkillaz.com To get to our message boards, go to: http://www.latenightkillaz.com/yabbse You can find us on IRC at: irc.gamesnet.net, channel #lnk Check us out, we'd love to hear from you!

    n00b Question

What version of Windows are you using? MTA doesn't seem to work with Windows 98. And if you are emulating in Linux, you will need the latest version of WineX to play.
  13. Today, when I was flying a Sparrow over water, my chopper was jacked in midair. But, the weird part is, when I fell into the water, I was able to walk in it! I was actually being dragged in the water, but I could walk in it. I didn't know what was going on. system specs: windows xp home nvidia geforce2 mx 200 512 MB ddr sdram pentium 4 1.4 ghz
  14. The problem with rpm remains to be dependencies. The thing that makes Gentoo the best is its emerging system. When you install a new program, it automatically retrieves all of its dependencies for you; this saves time. Also, the emerging system always works. I have never had an emerge fail. You can easily upgrade any software with emerge as well. It is a very clever system, better than the "ports" system that comes with FreeBSD. The Gentoo emerge system has support for almost every single program anyone has ever heard of, so you can easily install any program you want, with the use of a very simple command I like the fact that Gentoo's make.conf lets you specify the specific processor you have. That's cool As for SuSE, I used it before installing Gentoo. It was very easy to use, perfect for the introduction to linux. Once I learned more about linux (Setting up my BSD gateway, running someone else's half-life servers which are on a Redhat machine, plus installing SuSE), I switched to Gentoo. Still use it, still love it. It always works. rant>
  15. I have WineX 3.1, and it has Vice City support. I have not tried MTA yet. Besides, my GTA installation is on my windows drive. This makes it difficult because my WineX "c_drive" is labeled as C:. Who needs rpm when Gentoo can emerge it all for you Please note: Make sure your specific video card drivers are updated to the latest version. I had trouble running my games because I had the old "nv" driver installed instead of the new "nvidia" driver with OpenGL support.
  16. I don't really like the idea. I hope this doesn't turn into another Counter-Strike with weapons that you are forced to buy. I'm new to MTA: VC, but the best part about it all is the freedom you get. The freedom to find weapons, the freedom to kill, the freedom to race, the freedom to stunt, the freedom to get into the bigger vehicle and ram the other guy until his car explodes... If people insist on money and game modes, I hope it will be a server setting which allows toggeling of such features.
  17. Hi! Wow, official multiplayer in a GTA game sounds good. But please keep in mind, This new GTA game is very far away. Look at Gamecube, we first heard about the thing as "Project Dolphin" several years before it was even advertised. Besides, the specifics of this "Multiplayer" have not been revealed. How do you know that it will be better than MTA?
