You must use Bootcamp to install Windows XP or higher in order to play MTA on a Mac. There is no native version of MTA for OS X.

Did you try running the DX installer I linked anyway? There could be out-of-date components; while XP supports only DirectX 9.0c, that doesn't mean newer runtime libraries aren't available for it.

It would appear so. You updated DirectX as well? The latest nightly of MTA:SA didn't resolve the issue?

You can download installation media from Microsoft here: http://msft.digitalrivercontent.net/win/X17-59463.iso (7 x86 with SP1) You're on your own for finding a product key, though.
