ijsf
NOTE: This is an archived post, and information in here no longer applies to the forums. Everything in this section is kept only for nostalgia! TL;DR = Don't try to use this The mods are clearly understaffed right now and people need to come to them, not the other way around. This is where you say "But wait, I contact mods and they never respond!!!". Well, usually the problem is you are only contacting ONE moderator. Now you can contact ALL moderators easily! Click the [ Contact the moderators ] button at the top right (next to profile, personal messages, login/logout) to contact the moderators. You can also click here: CONTACT THE MODERATORS Enter your subject and message. This will create a message in a forum called "Complaints" that ONLY moderators can view. That means you will not be able to view the board or your submitted message. If this is not working for you, you can try the old fashioned method, sending a private message to 1 or more mods: Black Dragon - http://forum.mtavc.com/privmsg.php?mode=post&u=2636 JonChappel - http://forum.mtavc.com/privmsg.php?mode=post&u=6465 MAD_BOY - http://forum.mtavc.com/privmsg.php?mode=post&u=243 Ransom - http://forum.mtavc.com/privmsg.php?mode=post&u=5472 Rebel - http://forum.mtavc.com/privmsg.php?mode=post&u=4338 Slothman - http://forum.mtavc.com/privmsg.php?mode=post&u=124 HAZJ - http://forum.mtavc.com/privmsg.php?mode=post&u=4957 Harry - http://forum.mtavc.com/privmsg.php?mode=post&u=7579 erorr404 - http://forum.mtavc.com/privmsg.php?mode=post&u=8923 Boss - http://forum.mtavc.com/privmsg.php?mode=post&u=4123 Talidan - http://forum.mtavc.com/privmsg.php?mode=post&u=6966 JHXP - http://forum.mtavc.com/privmsg.php?mode=post&u=7476 Gamefreek - http://forum.mtavc.com/privmsg.php?mode=post&u=3794 Link to comment

Cerbera
Looks like I picked a good time to think about returning. If you guys would like some help with revising your policies (I notice the current set are pretty fragmented and lengthy) then I would really like to help out. My experience of writing tutorials for the GTA series over the past six years has made me pretty good at figuring out systems and writing them in a way people can understand. For a working example of a policy I wrote (alongside illspirit) you could view the Signature Rules at GTAForums.com. Although they have now re-written the rules into a rambling nonsense, it was me who came up with the idea of limiting signatures by their overall pixel size including text, rather than just the pixel size of images. I am now a global moderator at the Gouranga Forums which are affiliated closely with R* games. I have been working with them to create a simplified, unified forum policy and things are moving pretty well now. I would really like the opportunity to help out at these forums too. Incidentally, I am scratch-making a new skin for GTAForums which you can preview here. I am making the skin so that page sizes will be radically less, cross-brosser compatility will be total, the layout is more flexible and to present information more clearly by using conventional interface design. If the system you use here is skinnable I could try my hand at doing a similar thing for you folks? Edited January 26, 2005 by Guest Link to comment
Ransom
There actually was a topic about skins before, you can make one and just start a new topic if you wish. If its good it will get feedback. It would probably be another choice besides this and those other 2 skins. Yes the policies are a little bit scratchy since the part of the team that does the forums are mostly 2nd-language English, though it is still very good. Can use some work though. Nice resume. Can use some work though. Nice resume. I had a rummage through this area and found lots of individual topics about templates people had made. I would not make an impractical template with a page generator like most of them did, I actually write web pages by hand to Strict XHTML standard, linked with a fully validated CSS2 file. The style would be like the GTAForums skin I am making, in that I would make a completely stripped skin for the boards and then re-build everything from scratch manually. The basic principles I create websites and skins by are:- Ease of use is the most important aspect. Non-standard colours make websites harder to use. Conventional interfacing makes pages easier to use. Fluid (resizable) layouts cater for all desktop sizes. People just use websites to get information, so the simpler the information is presented the easier time people will have. Efficient use of code makes speedy download times. I won't hurry you all into making a decision. IJS said to me over MSN that he wants to discuss it with you all first, so I'll wait until I hear how that has turned out. Link to comment

Si|ent
I wonder if Cerbera is still waiting? lol I love how you read his wording and think 'Wow, these skins must be great', then you look at them and think 'Errm, surely some mistake, is this a joke? lol' Anyway, Please note guys that Contact the Moderators ISNT for game problems or server issues, it is for Forum related enquiries and complaints ONLY. The first one was for "the most arguments caused" and the second was for "shortest period as a moderator". Good times. Link to comment
