  1. It will be converted to the GTASA engine somewhen during this year, from what illspirit has been telling me. The new urban and residential islands are coming together well last time I checked. Those of you not sure how to make additional installs of GTAVC, you might find my Multiple Installs Guide helpful.
  2. Gamebro, I guess you havn't heard about the stunt mode which has been present for about a year? When I ran Serious Street Racers we used to do point-to-point street races in a serious manner. Hence our name. There are still stacks of stunting clans kicking around the forums here. The current MTA's are not limited to just fragging each other and havn't been for quite some time. Additionally, much of what you have suggested is going to be fairly impossible to implement. You have to remember that although the game has become larger, more efficient and developed a great deal everyone is still using the same old internet connections. This means that the lag you get from the current MTAVC core -- which has been through years of optimisations -- will be even worse for GTASA because code optimisations take a really, really long time to research, develop, implement, test, troubleshoot, fix, re-optimise, implement and so on. Until the PC version is released nobody can even begin to research the memory locations required to hook the MTA technology into GTASA. Expecting an MTASA before 2006 is ludicrous and expecting a good version of it before June 2006 is similarly misguided, in my opinion.
  3. Looks like {ULK} Bishop just came up against TWO people who are better than him. Good call, EAi.EAi tag-teams Cerbera! *THWACK* (EDIT) Hey, I just realised that because I'm a moderator I can lock this because it is plagarism. However, I think the response from {ULK} Bishop will be hilarious, so let's keep it open.
  4. I just neatened up the formatting as I saw someone had added a note about the requirements needed to be listed on the map. I also made the note about Blue Zircon being in charge of this thread less prominant because it is really only needed as a footnote. Fine a job as he does, of course.
  5. You cannot speak because there is no "T" key. You wonder why you can only carry one weapon. You are blown away by the number of interior locations...and by how aggressive the citizens inside them are. You can't figure out why people are driving on the left. You become chronically dehydrated because you don't realise you need to drink. You wonder why the terrain is has no big water-ski jumps on it. You demand that the police give you $50 after you punch a pickpocket. You can't understand why your legs are covered in urine. You try complaining to an admin about how slow the time setting is. You think the animations file must be corrupted because you always fall over when trying to do big martial arts kicks. You lie face-down in the road because you forgot how good tarmac smelt. You think the maximum population of Earth is 32. (Anyone else noticed this is like those Top Ten lists from The Late Show?) (EDIT) My favourites from other people so far are below.
  6. http://www.mta.com/ What a great use of a domain!
  7. Especially if it has as many validation errors as your site. Do you even know what a DOCTYPE declaration is? Good at web design, lol. I was wondering whether Project Cerbera could become an affiliate? I don't have an affiliate bar on it but I have had a link in the Links - GTA Modifiers section to you guys for years. You've got nearly 300 linkers to you anyway but I've only got about 30! (EDIT1) Having tested the other candidates I guess I should test the current MTAVC homepage. Well, the validation results show there are a rather embarrasing 108 errors on it! I would be willing to help bug-fix the current design. Once fixed there would not really be any need for a new design. (EDIT2) I guess I should supply the validation results for Project Cerbera for completeness.
  8. Well, I do not agree with this. Aggressive, threatening rules with statistics-based punishments are exactly the sort of things which makes members want to rebel against the staff. And quite right too, imho.
  9. euhm we dont live under a rock, most of us know that, but can you show me a good zmod tut on gtaf?Use the search field at the bottom of the forum listing? One of the few good "features" Invision boards have. Search Results for "Zmod" UV Mapping with Zmod Making a Wheel in Zmod Getting Started in Zmod - this one is outstanding. Setting up Blueprints in Zmod I dare say there are others, those are just a few from what the quick search threw up. If you wanted to find out how to do something specific, then using a more detailed string to search for would bring up more relevant results. fair enough. what i want to do here is to write a general explanation of how this programm works, from making your first face to tuning normals to having your model ingame if anyone wants to search gtaf for hours just to find out how one specific tool works than thats his own thing (hf with that ) but i know that i could help alot by just starting with basics, and by making examples for each step i do (like making a katana a-z) well anyways, gonna start writing now and will update it when i can/want It takes minutes, not hours. Furthermore, spending a few minutes searching the GTAF Tutorials area is a lot more efficient than trying to use Google to find an obscure topic on a forum which has no tutorials area written by an unknown character.Furthermore, there are dozens (possibly hundreds) of "Getting Started with Zmod" and "Zmod Inside Out" tutorials on the internet already. Whatever you write will have already been written by several people. The only thing you can hope to do is write something amazingly accessible to an international audience. Although, there are lots of non-English tutorials about ZMod already. So, I would say that in the wider picture there is no point because everything that could be written about ZMod has already been done. However, writing the tutorial will be helpful for you to learn the program and the way you structure it might be easier to follow for certain audiences.
  10. The second chapter of my Uphold the Law level for GTA1 was called "Shoot to Kill" too. Small world, eh?
  11. Biohazard: TLR has already taken Cafe Robina.I thought you had post editing rights to the first post in this thread? Anyway, I have updated the IMG links to point at the new versions. I hope that is alright?

  13. I had a rummage through this area and found lots of individual topics about templates people had made. I would not make an impractical template with a page generator like most of them did, I actually write web pages by hand to Strict XHTML standard, linked with a fully validated CSS2 file. The style would be like the GTAForums skin I am making, in that I would make a completely stripped skin for the boards and then re-build everything from scratch manually. The basic principles I create websites and skins by are:- Ease of use is the most important aspect. Non-standard colours make websites harder to use. Conventional interfacing makes pages easier to use. Fluid (resizable) layouts cater for all desktop sizes. People just use websites to get information, so the simpler the information is presented the easier time people will have. Efficient use of code makes speedy download times. I won't hurry you all into making a decision. IJS said to me over MSN that he wants to discuss it with you all first, so I'll wait until I hear how that has turned out.
  14. Sorry to reply to a fairly old thread but the best conversion of GTA3 to the GTAVC engine is this one: GTA: Liberty City There are a lot of people working on that. The models and textures do not require any work to be transferred between the two engines but they do have to be repositioned. Furthermore, AI paths have to be recreated from scratch and the SCM cannot be transferred directly, from what I gather. Last time I checked they had all the GTA3 buildings in GTAVC and had rebuilt all the AI paths. So it should be quite playable, even if there are no missions.
  15. There are loads of excellent tutorials in the Tutorials section of GTAForums, which is really where you want to be if you are serious about modding the GTA Series. It is there that all the major characters gather, such as Barton Waterduck of Mission Builder fame, Illspirit the Myriad Islands founder. Spooky, Steve-M, Respawn and Delfi all work on their outstanding editors there as well. This isn't an advert for the forum. GTAforums honestly is the best place for developing modifications that I know of. This is because it was made by the old-time GTA modifiers Jevon, Stilton and Illspirit with some existing webmasters.
  16. Looks like I picked a good time to think about returning. If you guys would like some help with revising your policies (I notice the current set are pretty fragmented and lengthy) then I would really like to help out. My experience of writing tutorials for the GTA series over the past six years has made me pretty good at figuring out systems and writing them in a way people can understand. For a working example of a policy I wrote (alongside illspirit) you could view the Signature Rules at GTAForums.com. Although they have now re-written the rules into a rambling nonsense, it was me who came up with the idea of limiting signatures by their overall pixel size including text, rather than just the pixel size of images. I am now a global moderator at the Gouranga Forums which are affiliated closely with R* games. I have been working with them to create a simplified, unified forum policy and things are moving pretty well now. I would really like the opportunity to help out at these forums too. Incidentally, I am scratch-making a new skin for GTAForums which you can preview here. I am making the skin so that page sizes will be radically less, cross-brosser compatility will be total, the layout is more flexible and to present information more clearly by using conventional interface design. If the system you use here is skinnable I could try my hand at doing a similar thing for you folks?
  17. *Ahem* Hi again everyone. I wonder if anyone remembers me? This topic is a month withbut replies but I have been checking up on it occassionally. I have noticed that the maps on the first page no longer show up...is this topic not being used any more? If it has become redundant or if people have just decided they do not want to have fixed bases, then I would just like to offer my thanks to Blue Zircon for maintaining the thread for the long time that I have been away doing my own stuff. If you missed me and you know it, clap your hands...
  18. *shuffle* The number of pinned topics seems to be building up again...
  19. Although the image takes a very, very long time to load it's good to see this thread still chugging along. Where is the GTA3 image though? Is this topic actually going to expand into GTA3? My parents still have me banned from the home PC, so without the dedication of remaining MTA:VC fans this concept would have died about half a year ago. Good job, everyone.
  20. I made this post a long time ago in a different section of the board but it didn't get responded to. So, I figure a shiney new topic here would be a better bet: That's exactly what I mean. Now that I'm at the net cafe (which have iMacs) instead of the Library I can view the source and found the offending code. It was exactly as I suspected: The horizontal ruled line (HR element) was set to be a large, pixel width instead of either undefined or a modest percentage. Here's the exact code snippet to hunt through the template sets for: Remove the "width=600" from that and the page should collapse properly so horizontal scrolling is avoided. I hope the admins can make this change promptly for those of us who have to use this forum from public computers which always use small desktop sizes to artificially increase the size of display elements, as well as folks who just have old PCs.

  22. Aha, I see. Any chance you guys could play with the forum templates so that it can be viewed at 800x600 resolution? I still have to access it from the local library which, like most public access points, uses a low desktop size so everything is nice and big for the elderly users. The line beneath the user links in the top right seems to be what makes the page unable to collapse small enough. Changing it to an HR element might solve this, or just plain removing it.
  23. Good on you BZ, you edited the opening post precisely as I hoped the new operator would if one was required. Bravo for removing all those disbanded gangs too; I kept them all on just because I was slowly becoming less active in MTAVC and couldn't keep track reliably.I changed your name to be a PM link, as your details obviously aren't located below the opening post as I made it. I'm still banned from my home PC (this internet cafe charges a damn fortune) so I can't resume responsibility for this thread. To be frank, BZ is better suited to doing it from what I've been reading as he has the time to check which gangs are actually still around and which are not. You can find details about the most recent events in my PC ban here.
  24. I notice this area is now much clearer...did someone actually take my advice? DeathB, I don't understand what you are talking about.
