Why hasn't this been posted in the other thread. You know, the one called "Report your cheaters here"

Sweet, Thanks.

Heli Blades... If you break then blades into little pieces and arrange them in the right way it will spell n00b... Share you had to put it under car. Now I feel bad for my random 'hit and runs' when I see people walking somewhere. As for the blades. It's just a cheap kill.

Nederlands First Time MTA (Dutch First Time MTA)

Ahhh, Ik kan nog Nederlands verstaan! Nog na zo vele jaren! Zo velen n00b Engels kinderen kunnen ook geen Engels -
Would you do that with a 56k modem though? If you're going to upload videos for people to watch you should at least make an effort to make a video for them to download that won't take hours to download. A good solution, which many people do, is to have a large and a small version available. That way if you're the kind of person who like that high quality then you have the option to download it and if you're a 56k'er then you can download the smaller version. BUT, what I have found is even the 'high' quality ones are of CRAP image quality and they might aswell be reduced in size... (Some look like they have been encoded using a low bitrate and then re-encoded to a larger bitrate)

have you tried the divx playa? It always works if media player (and any other program that uses the media player API to play avi's) play's with encoding errors. Another suggestion (this is going to sound real stupid): scandisk and defrag your machine... I've watched both videos no errors no problems using windows media player 9...

What do you press to get out of GTAVC when GTA/MTA crashes?
[PiG] Ponch replied to Ransom's topic in General MTA discussion
a very big THANK YOU I knew there was a reg key to get rid of it but I have been too lazy to find a fix for it. Thanks again.. -
I had problems with the last video post too. I installed the NEW DivX 5.1 and it seemed to work (I deleted it yesterday because I had a retarded moment). I know curly's video is encoded using 5.1 because I did that for curly myself. EDIT: If media player is being a bitch, remember to try the DivX's "The Playa"

No - compressed video = compressed. There is no point compressing a compressed video with winzip or winrar. No - You can get VERY small files with WMV you just have to set the correct encoding rate. It tells you the bitrates so if your file is too big then re-encode at a lower bitrate. That's how it works... WMV files cannot be re-encoded one you have made you final encoding. Mircosoft don't allow it (Yes, I know there are way around this, but in general for the general public, you may not re-encode a WMV file). You'll have to set the windows movie maker to make your file heavily compressed before you render it. The video encoding tutorial in the forums doesn't cover WMV compression only AVI's. It's a good idea to stay well away from WMV as I've worked with it a lot and have found that it produces CRAP image quality compared to DivX or XviD codec. With a file of 70MB I hope it's 35 minutes long because that's how much you could easily encode into a file that size... The video I'm making at the moment is going to be about 2mb per minute with sound. Sounds small but it's very watchable. Aim to a small as possible file size as most people will only watch the videos once or twice. Personally I think it's insane to download 70MB for a video a couple of minutes long. I still cringe at files that are 15-20 MB when I see the visual quality of them. They are of poor quality because they where not encoded right. I saw one today at 15MB for 3 minutes and the quality of that was that of a file 7x smaller!!! It looked like a sloppy biscuit on acid... Remember 70MB on a 56k could take up to 3 hours to download. Would you wait for that???

All this is answered in the search!

[PiG] Ponch replied to Ransom's topic in General MTA discussion
I ALWAYS use Ctrl+Alt+Del. Wow! I'm surprised with the poll! I've found that window's bloody Dr. Watson kicks in, if I don't stop the crashed exe fast enough. Screw that. I don't want Dr. Watson putting HUGE files on my machine when I don't need them... Bloody Win2k! I'll give blokkers 2x enter a go and see if Dr. Watson still comes up... -
and you can get shot.

I uploaded and downloaded it with no problems... (curly's video). What I did notice when I downloaded the large one is that the server reset the connection halfway through the file transfer. I used getright and it worked fine. Just wait! I'm almost done That's all I'm going to say for the moment Just checked Curly's video again... No problems downloading here!

If people are going to start kicking for high ping, MTA may need to have a look at their networking code and get rid of that HUGE lag spike that pops up every 20 seconds and makes your ping over 32000, otherwize people are going to be kicked left, right and centre! Regardless of whether you have low or high ping.

You'll have to give more information than that if you want someone to be able to help you.

Does that run on an ATARI 2600???
-
Mmmmm... 70MB. You say that like you think it's small. You should be looking at about 2-3 MB per minute (with audio) to get a REASONABLE file size for downloading.

go to the link I just put up curly or if you are having a specific problem PM me

People PLEASE read my video compression tutorial! http://forum.mtavc.com/viewtopic.php?t=5463 There is no reason for a 1-2 minute video to be anywhere larger than 4 or 5 megs... EDIT: I just checked out the above video. Dude, with the quality settings you are using for your MPEG I recommend you re-encode it with DIVX. I could easily cram that whole video into under 4 MB at the the SAME visual quality... P.S. Did I see some spawn camping at the airport going on? tsk tsk.

Does MTA say the XP box connected in the server window or not? (Client connected message) If It doesn't there is something stopping it from connecting to the win 2000 machine what it is may remain a mystery. But as you said the machines can talk to each other. So a connection must be able to be made. To me it sounds like one of the required ports are being blocked. That's why I suggested I could be a firewall in place. But since you say there is no firewall, I at a loss to what it could be at the moment. sorry.

Once you've tasted internet faster than 56k you don't want to go back... Good use on the word 'seemingly'.

curly has such a nice way of words... lol (or maybe I just have a dirty mind ) Better get my A into G and get me vid finished...

Give this a try... Turn off the built in XP firewall on the lan card. I'm figuring that you are running this over a lan? Might work might not...
