@ndy if you wanna take vids in first person get the camera hack for VC. (it's not a cheat, it moves the camera only and still has some restrictions as to how far you can move it) It works like a charm and doesn't screw with the game. You can move the camera ANYWHERE (withing some limits). Zoom in and out and do whatever you want. Just search google for a link, it's not hard to find or goto http://www.gtawip.com Just make sure you get the one for version 1.1 of VC and you should be sweet.

I don't know why but it seems that the worse the lag is for me the easier it is for me to kill people online... (I do compensate for the lag tho by aiming ahead of them too).

Soundz like your've got an ASIO card or something similar. The DSP on the cards proberbly doesn't like directX too much. Check the driver. Don't install the one from CD. Download a new one from their website (URL proberbly printed in the manual or on the box). 99% chance there is a driver update/fix. Read the manual does it say anything at all about DirectX? You could also try and reduce hardware acceleration for the soundcard. (Control panel/sounds and multimedia devices) I've had problems with my soundcard lagging me to the max. This is how I fixed it...(bare with me it was ages ago, so I'm doing my best to remember...) I swapped the soundcard to the first PCI slot (furthest away from videocard) updated EVERY driver and DirectX on my machine. (I like to know that any old OEM driver bugs are gone from my machine). I then reset the DMI pool in my bios. (I'm pretty sure this is all I had to do to stop the soundcard lagging my machine) Basically this is what's happening to you... You've got a $$$ soundcard. Chances are that it has a pretty good cpu/DSP on it. This CPU uses your PCI bus to send the data. LOT'S OF DATA! Basically it's overloading your PCI bus with data and the rest of your machine has to catch up. I did look at your system specs and yes this even happens to the fastest of machines. Check your soundcards manufactures website for any fixes for this lag... When you formatted and reinstalled did you install the chipset drivers for your motherboard? Most people don't do this. (tsk, tsk...) You're motherboard has to know how to efficiently talk to it's own components. It's best when You start reinstalling to take all the bits out of your machine and install them one by one wilst installing each driver as you go. Be greatfull it's not a creative audigy. Those things are bitches to get working correctly... You could also try and choose the most crap sound option in GTAVC and see if that helps... I've run out of time, if I remember anymore I'll post it for ya...

as to answer the poor person who started this thread... here's the URL http://www.rockstargames.com get the VC 1.1 update...That's the Nvidia update they we're talking about on the other thread. It wasn't a driver it was a GTA update hope this helps...

Why should servers have to update lazy clients that can't be assed updating themselves? Waste of bandwidth if you ask me. Last time I looked the bandwidth cost money...

Half-life/Counter-Strike/DoD already do this. So do most other games. Especially games where the server has to check to see if you have the map already installed.

if you're using Creative's EAX just make sure that hardware acceleration is on full. I noticed it wasn't by default on my machine yesterday. Just notch the value to full to make sure you are using the soundcard's own CPU properly. This will proberbly not fix your sound problem but you'll get a few extra FPS. (not much - a few). If the sound gets worse set the accelaration level to none, but just remember your computers own CPU takes the load. Another thing what it could be is a corrupt driver or file on your computer. I recommend that you reinstall DirectX, your soundcard drivers (update these if you can with new ones) and Vice City. Goto "start menu/run" and type "dxdiag.exe" (without "") Run this tool to verify your DirectX files for corruption (If it says all is ok, I'd still reinstall DX just to make sure) You can also use this tool to check you sound... If you've reinstalled all that and still have problems then it could be [repeat: could be] your soundcard's preamp (Symptoms of this is very very quiet sound) If that's the case then go and see your dealer and see if it's still covered under warranty. http://www.sblive.com/ - Get your latest drivers here http://www.microsoft.com/directx - Get the latest DirectX here file:///d:/setup.exe - Vice City Setup (put your disk in the drive tho ) Chances are this is not your problem. But it's a good starting point to eliminate the basic stuff first. Once you've done all this you're gonna have to start looking at other options to fix your sound. BTW: If all else fails...reinstall everything. This has been found to solve 99.9% of all computer related problems You're problem is definately not MTA. It will be something in windows or the such...

Here's an idea... Why don't people just blow up any damaged cars that are lying around the city, I do. Might as well leave the good condition cars lying around as to keep finding cars a bit more random. Chances are that the screwed cars are near the current battle area anyway... So if you see one shoot it so others can use it again at spawn and come and kick your ass and the action will keep going for longer...

It's it at all possible to include a server side CRC check of the mta clients. I know there are a lot of modified clients going around the net. Putting CRC checking in a client is a very dumb thing to do because all you have to do is remove the part of the disassembled code to disable the cheat/modified file checking. It's as easy as removing bloody CD protection form a game. (almost every game I've played online lets the servers handle the CRC checking of files (maps cheats -whatever)) The reason why I am asking for server side CRC checking is because the $$ clan members seem fit to flood the servers with connection and disconnection messages (I have made a vid of this, If anyone want's to see it I will upload it), with the effect of people lagging soooo much they time-out and have to reconnect over and over and over again. $$'s modified client seems to have the 10 second delay between reconnections removed (as well as the basic cheat checking obviously). Please. Server side CRC checking would stop so many problems with people modifying client side files. At least the only servers they'd be able to connect to would be modified servers and it would make all the other servers a wee bit more cheat/asshole free. (even the basic cheats seem to be getting online with the modified clients) I was on Eftel's server last night. 16 people connected. about 12 of them where cheating and flooding the server. (shame there never seems to be an admin online to get rid of them and shame it's the only low ping server near my country ) Flying cars I don't mind but when you've goto shot the same apache chopper down 10 times in a row it gets a bit annoying.

WTF is up with the $$ members. They're getting really f*cking annoying. Not only are they cheating 150% but now they think it's great fun to flood the server with connected/disconnected messages for long periods of time. It's not much fun playing when dickheads flood the servers and everybody has to keen reconnecting over and over and over again because some lame ass mofo thinks it's his/her place to be an online bitch and causing everybody to time out. Bloody modified MTA clients...put a bloody server side CRC check in place!!!

[PiG] Might have a problem with sundays too, because sunday for us is actually monday morning, and with work and all...(don't think my boss would be impressed if I sat and played MTA all day Sorry we're only telling you now but I don't think pusher realized the time differences. I got confused myself untill I realized that we're ahead of the rest of the world time-wize... Let me double check with Pusher he might have enough guys to still do it on the Sundays. But I can't make Sundays (em Mondays) myself. P.S. server passwords and IP's who do I talk to? The VCS page doesn't have the IP's up...
