  1. hmm, how about almost all fps games since quake3? a chat indicator would be very usefull, and the mta team has been bombarded with requests for pause/chat indicators for quite a while.
  2. yeah, text chat has been done, but what about a taunt button that pulls up all those threats tommy says when he gets in a fistfight, binding a key to that, and making it random would be fun

  4. janipewter, the frame limiter is built into gta3 and VC, it limits it to 30 fps. without the frame limiter, a powerful system actually makes the game's speed faster.
  5. i don't imagine any major 3rd party mods being included. strictly from an ecenomic standpoint, the mta download should be as small as possible due to hosting issues. What I am interested in is perhaps an mta mods website, dedicated to reviews and such. me raises his hand to be a reviewer
  6. good point. but like i said, the peds should react to you, just you dont react to them. i imagine you'd stick out like a sore thumb no matter what, the way people move and such (not to mention walking at a slow ped-like pace would be hard without an anolog joystick.)
  7. not just killing the pilot, but also shooting out the heli blade's "stem" with a sniper will take it down.
  8. that's why a toggle would be a good idea, so certain mods are allowed although not synced, and some are forced to be synced (liberty city mod for one MUST be synced, or it would look crazy)
  9. i would join a server without a chosen mod for the challenge. how much cooler would it to be to fight as a mortal among gods and succeed.

  11. ok, i found that info, thanks. 1 more burning question: what if i don't have the mod, but wanna join the server anyhow. could there be a toggle to the mods to either allow or not allow people to connect without it? things like liberty city obviously need to be synced, but simple particle/graphical mods would be no prob for some people to not have and still play fine. i also ASSUME that there will be a way of verifying the mod is the right one (rather than an invulnerability mod that is placed in the particle mod folder)
  12. dang, cause i thought it was the best advancement in multiplayer games when "mutators" were introduced, it was an amazing feat. of course mtama was capable of "mutators" to an extent, where we could load more than 1 code at a time. ps: where did you read that there was 1 mod at a time?
  13. wow, kinda dug yer own grave there, huh. there were better ways of handling it. you trusted him enough with the password, coudn't you trust him enough not to use it?
  14. i looked, but could not find clarification on this, so I'm asking here. when you say mods, the key word that i was looking for but didnt find is SYNCED mods. I guess we could assume it would be, but you know what happens when we assume. (you make an ASS of U and ME) another assumption is that current sp mods will have to be rewritten to work with mta from reading this: of course, unsynced mods could be cool (downloading powers, heheh), but not fair
  15. yeah, health bars atm are functional, but definitly not fashionable. having it above is a good idea, and changing the health bar would be great. i suggest a simple color coded gradual change, or even just the number. as well as an armor indicator (either on/off or percent)
  16. need i remind you about americas army? don't you have to complete sniper/basic training before you can join a server? honestl, it may be a way of keeping noobs off the server, check for a 75% game completion savegame, or boot em (yes, i know people download savegames)
  17. i have seen a sp mod wher they use the falling forward animation and make it so the person can stay on the surface. has anyone seen a mod where you can swim underwater yet?
  18. i suggested this sooooo incredibly long ago, but here goes: -don't sync peds -remove all physics from ped interaction with cars/people. so they react to you, but you cant react to them (physically blocking your path while walking/slowing/damaging a car with their skulls/blocking bullets) - have their AI intact so they react when a gunfight erupts so you fight against real opponents, and the peds are decoration, just like the newspapers/debris on the ground. this opens up cool gameplay elements like blending in with the crowd to get a jump on an opponent. i guess we have to wait untill blue is out to see how much more we can stretch the engine
  19. wow, a thread glorifying a lameass cheater. other topics havebeen made similar to this and it ended up being the cheater themselves looking for attention. (pretty sad)
  20. a lot of ideas i've seen here are either from other games, or really complicated. almost all are excellent. I'm sure nobody is gonna read this, cause we have a sea of suggestions, but here's mine anyways: - flood the town, change all cars to indestructible boats, and make the yacht driveable (all of these have been done in sp before) -1 shot kills as a "mutator" for any other mod suggested here (otherwise known as instagib)- been done -grand theft city of heroes. need i say more now I'm interested in knowing if anyone suggesting these mods are planning on making any. i hope to see some great stuff, but not too many (diversity is good, but it can fracture a community, and mta has one helluva community)
  21. HELL YEAH! forcing the frame limiter on is brilliant, theres no reason richer people should be able to run/shoot faster. (cause they can afford better systems) glad to hear that

  23. of course if you have the server, you can set a max ping already with mtama.
  24. /me is working on a device that shoots electricity through my brain the moment the news page is updated drivebys! beautiful, that was always a sore spot with mta. great to finally learn about blue's features. about time you guys loosened yer lips I will withhold the burning question however.....ah hell no i won't. is everybody gonna be able to driveby, or just the driver?
