Oye... The "Watch your back" argument for carkilling... Ok.. Tell ya what.. I'll cruise up on you and your fight at 100 MPH from behind, where you won't hear any sound and then we'll see if you can dodge.. You don't have a CHANCE to dodge at speeds like that. Add into it the laggy "jumps" that happen when someone is going by driving a car, you probably will die even if you do manage to get lucky and get a jump in. Don't tell me to "watch my radar" and "look behind you" because I do, and do it pretty well, but when you have a car on top of you before you even SEE it's on the radar, doesn't help a whole lot. Your argument is a loose and unproven theory, whereas my response has been proven over and over again. You can't always TELL when there's a car noob bearing down on you, and if you DO get a half a second to tell, you're dead before you can react. Have you not noticed that the range of the radar is SHRUNK when you're on foot? The faster you go, the wider the radar scan range. If I'm on foot, I have about 10 - 20 feet of radar space. How fast does one move 10 feet (Because that's the radius of the edge of your radar to your exact location) when going 100 MPH? You move 146.667 feet per second, so you're in and out of my radar range within less then a second. Let's be generous and say you're moving at 50 MPH, and I have 150 feet diameter on my radar? You're still in and out of my radar within about 2 seconds. (Moving 73.333 feet per second) I'm well aware that these measurements are not exact in GTA, but you get the point I'm trying to make here.. And let's not forget the ones who stop after you jump and then back up. If you jump again, they simply accel past and lather rinse repeat. You can try to take their car, and sometimes it works, but it's not reliable due to lag and the partial ability to bounce you away from the door by turning the car... Then there's GTA III's annoying habit of having you run right AT the car sometimes if you get knocked down in this fashion, not always aware you're not in control of your character until it's too late and your flattened. Don't come off with a lame argument and not expect it to be refuted What you're offering is a lame excuse for poor gameplay. Bear in mind, I don't mind the occasional car kill, it's the chronic ones that really burn my ass. But anyway... Get back on Topic.. This article is about Flamethrowers and game balance --- Loendal "I love numbers, don't you?" of the VCA for those of you who dont want to read all that, here's a summery:

fixed the topic spelling, it was bugging me. /me plans on skipping a few days of work when sa is released

Have a look at the "known issues" thread in this forum, there are several suggestions for you there.Others have had similar problems as well, if you run a search in this forum for the same error you will get even more info.

I'm sure there was a really really good reason for removing it, But I was really looking forward to th ammunation startup as well. that way i wouldn't have to keep resetting the time for the racers

Gotta say this cause it would be cool Megaman netwarrior mod
Slothman replied to a topic in Suggestions
pure heracy i say! /me owns a copy of the first megaman with original crappy cart artwork although all this netwarrior and other crap is only related to megaman by name and not the same as the original 8-bit robot. -

YOU NEVER HEARD OF MEGAMAN?!?!?!?!?!!?! -
was it just a guide on how to go underground and travel between islands? I don't think that would violate any rules at all. As I have told many people already: crossing islands is a terrible idea as it causes desync and crashes. If you get stranded on another island and want to return, by all means go back, but expect that you might have to restart your game soon.
-
and if you see a car killer while you are fighting onfoot, try to turn the other guys back to the oncoming car

It's not rocket science. either remove the correct ip, all ip adresses and start over, or reinstall the server if it comes to that.

I wish I had an analog controller for vc while flying a chopper or stunting on a bike, but dodo flying with twitch reflexes and a keyboard can't be beat. /me wonders how this could ever get back on topic

thats the trouble with mods, lot's of people have incredibly good ideas but no coding/modeling skills to get them off the ground. -
How are we going to get the old players back into mta?
Slothman replied to njr1489's topic in General MTA discussion
people go where the fun is. and gamers in general are a fickle lot. we play a game untill a new addiction comes along and MTA is good enough to be included in that cycle. Granted there are some games that people stick with for the rest of their lives (counterstrike brats) but not all games can expect such a long-lasting fan base. people come and go, that's the nature of gaming. -
yeah, i imagine a +209 mph head on colllision would take a good chunk out of the securicar.

Is MTA:Blue the final versoin of MTA?
Slothman replied to =BDC=Kenny's topic in General Blue discussion
they know that the mta guys will do it for them. not to mention their sony agreement barring them from adding any new major content for other platforms. The best think rockstar could do is make it as easy as possible for the mta team. -
well, if they die and are out of the mission it would solve the issue with the ammunation being blocked off and it would certainly enhance the van heist mission by encouraging cooperation and protecting teammates.
-
yes, if there is a requirement to start a mission then people won't keep triggering them for no reason and disrupting the ammunation. On the flipside, I'm sure the mta team are very proud of their missions ( as they should be) and would like people to be able to see them easily perhaps a good compromise is putting a time limit on people activating missions so they have to wait a while between missions. While we are on the subject of missions: is it possible to make it so that once you have died, you are no longer involved in the mission? ie: if you die during van heist you no longer can get the rewards/see the radar blips

way to contribute to the conversation anyways, racing seems like something that would more likely be put in a stunt mode than dm, either way it would be nice. I am particularly fond of the checkpoint races rather than a set route.

watch what you type, even in small fonts drizzy anyhow boss, I like how you are given a chance to bail on a car before it explodes. I think this was discussed a while back and they mentioned something about having to time the explosions so they sync better. I hated travelling in portland cause of those damn gorrilas with their shotguns. As far as letting servers control the weapons.dat: good idea, probably would cost more bandwidth but it would be interesting. I imagine the reason there aren't too many server side variable like weapons and stuff is that the current core is precarious as it is without throwing in a bunch of wildcards.

there are animations for moving around, the first huge release had "south park walking" but there is animation now. not all animations work, but enough. even without any animations this mod would still be fun.
-
try what baby-g just suggested, also try getting a 1.1 exe instead of 1.0 (1.1 is known to crash less with mta)
-
.rep files are not actual media/movie files, but recorded game data, movie maker programs cant read them. They can only be used by gta. if fraps freezes when you start recording (the red numbers mean your recording) then it could mean that your system cannot handle fraps and the game at the same time. make sure you have lots of free hard drive space and a good cpu/videocard/amount of ram.
-
in staunton, both bridges are out. the one to portland is still blown up, and the one to shoreside is raised.

well, i voted for the person whos done me a favor by hosting my 2nd comic book (Ijs) But Bump has dreamy eyes but seriously, what a dumb thread.
