Try shutting down as many background processes as possible (including explorer.exe, then launch mta using "new task".) or try omega video drivers.

I think giving positive handicaps to yourself won't do any good, the mass of gamers will turn it as high as possible then, negate handicaps like lower weapon skill (=lower accuracy) or less hp, you can choose from wont be used many imo, but if you play with friends, of different skill, it might be a good add in.

the only drag race that makes some difference is with bikes... the best leaner wins... boring

well, then just aim using you're dual analog controller, just aim with the 2nd poke, then there's no need for auto-aim for you... I've never got used to dual-analog aiming...

the patch didn't even fix all the sound bugs I got with my onboard alc 97 so I bought a sound card

I had the same problem, I copied some new cd's into my mp3 folder, then I got too much music and it didtn't scan the newer ones, so I had to delete some older ones, and then scan for user tracks some time. and it worked again, so maybe your folders contain allso too much files, try removing some.

so youre onboard sound is disabled in the bios and you fully use the pci card now? wich is up to date etc? allready tested it with dxdiag? (start-->run-->dxdiag)

the go fast-motion blur isn't a problem for me, the NOS one is rather annoying, it's just too blurry, but I dont care if its removed or not, maybe a good option for clientside since I heard the blur could give some framedrop.

what's your internet connection speed? and do you join the lowest as possible pinged servers?

then just the whole game probably isn't something for you, becouse single player allso runs 25 fps max, and yes you can ofcourse switch off the framelimiter, but the game doesn't refresh with this limit, but it builds on this limit, the game doesn't get shocky animations etc becouse, the whole game runs slower, so you can play single player good on a bad pc becouse everything justs gets some slower, and not unplayable by the messed up animations and enviroments. you get the same with a higher framelimit, then the game will run unnaturally fast, and so will the npc's react and you drive and shoot etc, so it will only get harder to make good stunts then.

More graphical stuff, you have to reconfigure your graphic settings yourself becouse the framelimiter is set on 25 and wont change during races, so that means you get framedrop when you get the speed effect.another tip I'll add, look at the ground in really crowded area's to prevent framedrop, ofcourse it is hard in the middle of the race, but it really makes some difference at the start. (in most cases a straight line)

I might get you wrong, but do you say you have both a pci soundcard and onboard audio enabled? you should switch onboard off if you have a sound card, in the bios. otherwise, you can try to update your sound drivers, check this site for the onboard drivers http://www.realtek.com.tw/
