  2. Simply start once every participant is on the server, mtama can ensure the previously connected people do not move from spawn until GO is cried. The only thing that needs some consideration is car kills. Do we ban them altogether? Do we -1 point fromt he team that performs them? Do we just allow them, anything go's style? Do we allow them but not count the points? All have thier problems, banning removes a big part of the game. -1 point makes it a positive disadvantage and means being VERY careful not to accidentally run someone over. Anything gos could fall into a car noob session (especially if gangs that will do ANYTHING as long as they win are involved), Not counting the points would still be manipulated by aforementioned gangs. Running well armed people over to prevent them having the weapons any more for instance. It's a tricky one.
  3. Find the cheat creator and give him source access enabling him to create even more devestating fun-killing hacks? I think not. If we had wanted AI of some kind at this point we would have worked on some, we dont, we havn't. As for what you insist we should do, know of what you speak before you do so please.
  4. So you suggest th answer to persistant car killers is to give in and become one yourself? No thankyou. My current response is to grab the fire engine and kill the car killers car. Very satisfying, and of course the car killers dont want the fire engine as it isnt maneuverable enough to run people over with.
  5. Co-operative multiplayer gta would be an entirely new mod. Ive suggested going down this path to gta:c (i think its called) and last i heard they planned to do so rather then flood the market with 'mta clones'

Its not something we included deliberately KungFuGrip, It's the way gta3 treats cars impacting on a player, we have tried to alleviate it a little and discourage constant car killing by removing financial reward, but of course those that ONLY car kill dont have need for money. An alternative that may be possible, total immunity from being damaged by a car, would be even more 'unrealistic' and result in a worse situation i think. Somethign I'm wondering about is changing the way we 'deal out' the vehicles. A long time was spent carefully placing all the vehicles to ensure no player would need to run far to get a vehicle, mostly due to the many moans of 'i have to run for MILES to find a car' from VC players. The drawback of course is it only takes a serial car killer a few seconds to jump into another one and resume the squishing. So perhaps clumping them together in more scattered areas would alleviate it a little, or at least give the shooters a sporting chance to reap revenge on the car killer that just lost his wheels. But of course then we shall have people bemoaning the lack of available vehicles around the city. Catch 22.
  8. Exactly, hence why i said a 30 minute match or something. You dont try and play a defusal round in Unreal Tournament so why would we play VC's attack/defend rule in what is a totally different game?

Apparently half the beter known players in the community are using it, well this isnt any kind of official team statement merely a personal one, but currently i have NO wish to do any further work on 0.4.x, Enjoy your hack filled, cheat populated, Aimbot jetpacking AI cheat filled, unstable and unfair servers and try and remember the times when you could have fair FUN. Why on earth should we put in so much time to make something entertaining when you all try your best to screw it up for everyone else.
  10. Revs just did. It's not true tho, we wont see any off the shelf multiplayer in a new gta release at least until gta4, and as nobody knows ANYTHING about gta4 thats merely speculation. The CEO did make statements some months ago about rockstars approach to a multiplayer gta which can be found on this forum somewhere. I forget in which thread i posted it
  11. Sounds like your pc has a few issues, Im running a machine thats so old its steam powered yet i dont suffer from any of the slowing down issues you are describing.
  12. That can be fairly common on a busy server, especially if it cannot really support the number of players its set to, or if you cannot support that many. Slow internet etc. Usually your messages ARE getting thru your just not recieving the echo of them yourself.

  15. And stubby is useless if your opponent is over 20 foot away, m4 is useless if u want to run and shoot, molotovs and grenades are useless in enclosed areas, katana is useless if your opponent doesnt stop still, Your point is?

  17. Slothman: I guess you didnt travel to other islands in previous mta's, as every version had the exact same issues. You would only see the other players arrow in 0.3b for instance, not thier car nor thier actor. Kent: Actually we didnt, usually when two dodos cross the borders they cant see each other, it was just felt that restricting them to a single island was against the spirit of the vehicle. Lets face it, most peopel going for a flight are doing it for the joy of flying, not to get out and fight somewhere remote

  19. Sounds to me like your still playing 0.3, 0.4 weapons seem to perform fine aim wise. Not sure why you suffer 'mousewheel lag', or even what you mean by that to be honest. By rights you should already be immortal whilst waiting for everything to load when spawning, apparently it's not always so though. Seems some sync is messing up somewhere along the way for some people. As for one shot and your dead, that only applies to a lucky shot from a stubby. Just try not to let the stubby wielder get that close
  20. The island transitions are also handled differently in GTA3 than in VC which creates a lot of problems when moving from one to another.

  23. Just allow everything to load before your move off, oh and steer clear of spawn wars, not only are they dull and unimaginative in the extreme they also converge all the action into one place drastically increasing the chances of something hiccuping and crashing your game.

  25. Since moving IP these have remained very quiet and empty most of the time. My ASE doesnt even find them tho I'm assured by some people that thier copy does.
