'Home brewed' applications that essentially hack into mta servers will not be welcome without Team agreement and consultation however. That way cheats and exploits lie.

This is Manhunt, one of the earliest player-led gamemodes that emerged in a very early version (i posted about it at the time) that I then asked Aeron to make a basic script for for mtama (the first game script for it) So yes it's certainly been mentioned before.

MTA doesn't use IRC, the chat is hosted on the game server itself. MTAMA runs inside mIRC but doesnt require it to be connected to an IRCd to function.

I've played around with a few of tommies expressions in the past, along with a few other sound bites, I'd been thinking about the police radio when you are wanted "hes driving a 'blue' 'sportscar'" and the way similar could be triggered in mta. It's actually quite easy to use them, the difficulty comes in deciding how/when to use them, and of course actually syncing them. You can pretty much guarantee this wont be appearing in 0.5.x as our priority is to fix the problems in 0.5 rather than adding new features (although some fixes do involve new, or different features, VC spawn for one.) If anything dont be surprised if some of the current 'features' are removed

Sounds a little like a 3d version of the old HEAT lobby system. The problem would be you would need a central server of some kind purely to host the lobbies. Whos going to provide that?

Hehe no of course you cant. The replay.rep is merely gta storing information that it then uses to 'play back' what happened ingame, ingame. It isnt any kind of movie file. You'll need to capture it using fraps or somesuch. Check the relevant threads in the screens and movies section for details.

F1 = show last few seconds of action, F2 = save those few seconds, F3 = play back saved replay. replay.rep is saved to Documents and Settings\username\My Documents\GTA Vice City User Files\ By default you can only save one replay at a time, each new one will overwrite. You can pause and manually rename or move the current rep to make room for a new one. There also used to be an app called a replay handler that apparently enabled you to save multiple replays (basically renamed them for you as you played) but I have never used it.

I think that most gangs that try that soon change thier names due to pressure from both thier namesakes and the rest of the gang community already. Either that or they just die and dissapear.

Its fairly easy to create your own echo script complete with on-irc administration to run alongside oli's admin one, or on its own, but if oli intends to include it then theres little need. But for those of you that dont wish to run everything and only need a few specific abilities be aware it is possible stand-alone.
