Well with VC the PC port came out about 6 months (April?) later. eAi
-
Just running it should do it. It won't work if you've got mirc installed in some random place... Where is it? eAi
-
Um what? Read the message not his sig. eAi

1 or 2 I exepect. 0.4 will make it much more popular, in fact I prefer it over Vice City, mainly because its more compact (and some other cool features ). eAi

If you did a search before posting you'll see this is an ATI radeon problem and that updating to the latest drivers seems to fix it. eAi

Theres already a post on this subject (please look or search first): http://forum.mtavc.com/viewtopic.php?t=7656 Locked

i hope so ,but after i made the post i went surfing thru the forums and i didnt find any proof of future plans for supporting win9x . guess im gonna install xp then . If I said it, consider it proof. There isn't a linux version, there a server, the server for windows will run on 9x too. The server for linux would even run on mac os x (with a recompile I presume) if there was any demand.eAi

I doubt such things will be possible at least until version 0.8 to 1.0 (no i'm not promising)... eAi

I'm really fed up with people posting in this post, for no other reason than theres no way for them to be remotely on topic as theres really no point to it. Perhaps it should be moved to the General forum and forgotten about, or maybe one of Kryptos's Einstein-Rosenburg Bridges (aka Wormholes), where I don't think it'd last too long (has anyone ever tried that with a post before), like one of those bottles with a message in it - who knows where it'll turn up? eAi

What do you mean by Weapon Switching? Changing weapons is cheating?!? eAi

Normal People in the city???!?! OMFG Normal People. No. Not the Normal People! * eAi runs off scared eAi

Because we're weird people, out to confuse the n00bs! eAi

And, I think we can be pretty sure that nothing will, as things get heavier the faster they move, and are infinitely heavy when they reach the speed of light. eAi

Light only goes so fast... eAi
-
Probably, unless somthing goes wrong. eAi
-
Um, Wine is not an emulator. What are you talking about? eAi
-
Its possible that future versions may work on win9x and ME (oh god!), so you could sit and wait for them, but xp is much much better than 9x. eAi
-
New core will have support for such things i imagine. eAi
-
I'd say its more likly that one of the larger trucks would be used Barracks or whatever, with people on the back who can shoot. eAi

If i was litterally saying that you wouldn't have to ask, thats the nice thing about litteral things. Can't WINE run mIRC? Acording to the WINE site it runs flawlessly.... Some instructions appear to be here. You have no idea how the new core is going to work, it'll change MTA hugely. If you want to make this program its presumably because you enjoy MTA. Don't start slagging us off, we're fully aware of the problems the current core has, and you've got no idea what the possibilities of the new core. Each MTA release is tested as thoroughly as possible. If you're calling MTA a badly coded program, code a better multiplayer mod. You're welcome to run it on your own server(s), but release it and you're not going to help MTA. eAi

Um... Sorry? You tested my program? My program didn't use unicode (I'm pretty sure vb doesn't anyway). I don't think you know what you're talking about really. "The protection" that I was developing was superior to MTA's internal protection in that the definitions for cheats was downloaded when the client was run. This was CRC'd, and the crc was checked with the server's CRC of the same file. This makes it pretty hard to edit the data. Have you ever tried working out what the hell a VB program is doing (In assembly)? As its semi-interpretted, its not easy. Trust me, there were no unicode strings involved at any point, it'd be particularily stupid to store dwords in strings for a start, let along unicode strings. Even if I had somehow stored lots of vital data in unicode strings, I don't see why this would stop me doing tricky things? What about encryption and/or encoding? You can't do that with unicode strings??? I don't think you really have any idea what you're talking about. eAi

I'm going to speak for the team on this matter though someone else will probably want to correct me... We don't want people releasing "reverse engineered" server tools as it only complicates our life. We can't support these tools and the users who use servers don't know that the problems (they might be having) aren't MTA related and are instead because of a badly coded server admin program. Anyway, we really do not recommend releasing any such programs. Aeron's mIRC addon does the job fine for the moment, and in the future, there will probably be no need for such things (in their current form anyway). Releasing any such program as open source could cause serious damage to the community, for obvious reasons. eAi
-
Well we can't tell people how we do things cause that'd spoil it, but (this isn't my department) you're closer with your second suggestion that you're first I think.eAi

Not sure what this could be. Seems unlikly to be a port problem and more likely to be a faulty hardware or (other) software problem. It could even be somthing as simple as a damaged cable or network card. Try different configurations and see if anything particular is happening (in game) when you get disconnected. eAi
