Ok so do you have firewalls blocking anything over LAN? Also you may want to enable things like ICMP Echo in your firewall over LAN if you can. Ps you are trying to connect to his LAN ip, not Internet ip right?

Can you clear that up a bit so it's more understandable, I don't know what you mean by "i wanna make my server linux".

Make sure you've applied the server patch.

Are you on a college/university network, or any corporate LAN? There's a chance there may be a NAT or Proxy blocking connection on those ports.

There is a firewall built into Windows XP. Open your network connection properties, go to the Advanced tab and turn it off.

I remember the first (and last time) I ever played in the SGB server, I was at robber spawn and I killed like 4 SGB guys in a row and they banned me for hacking. I changed ip address and rejoined with a different name and asked some guy why he was such an immature shitface, and he starts going on about loads of bs and calling me illiterate when he was spelling every other word incorrectly.

Close all other programs before you play. It's probably the anticheat system not allowing you in because you have things open containing blacklisted words.
