that is more relatred to the physics in the game. i just thought of a way, you can measure the amount of damage the vehicle takes at a certain rate, i beleive it can tell the difference between impact damage and other damage types

now we're talking along the lines of fan fiction gta3 they stuck with no voice simply to put more emphesis on you being the character. but it kind of backfired and made claud look like a wuss because he took crap from everyone without talking back. so they gave tommy a personality and a backbone. explain it story-wise all you want, but i don't think they ever say that he is literally a mute, just called one because of his disposition.

just as it should be. do any coders know if there is a way to detect how hard a vehicle hits an object? if so, then limits could be put on a glued players stability (dont want to see a car sliding upside-down into a wall at 100mph and still be standing on the roof)

are you talking about something like those "DISQUALIFIED" or "MISSION PASSED" messages? if so, i beleive those are fixed imaged, not a special font. so i dont beleive it will be easy to make new ones (i could be wrong) maybe with some directx written from scratch

/me stares into mta blue's photo dreamily considering how modest you guys have been in the past, these statements about blue are pretty strong

the police choppers that randomly fly around have open doors, but i dont think that it is even a vehicle. more like an object such as the blimp or the fish. It's also kind of ugly if you get up close. i think having the guy mounted on the side of a chopper could look good anyhow, if the player model is positioned so the feet is over top the "ski" of the chopper

been watching this thread, listening to peoples perspectives and ideas on what constitutes cheating. Many good points raised, and i thought that i would chip in my 2 cents (this beinga forum and all) you were using cracked clients. I have always defined that as the line. the line has to be drawn somewhere. some people here seem to consider that line blurry and drawn depending on the circumstances of the server and other people. I however choose a more rigid approach that allows for less "compromises" My reasoning is this: without a cracked client, you cannot cheat. with a cracked client, it's possible thereby creating an immediate acces to cheating. People with that possibility staring them in the face can sometimes waver and fall into that blurry line. The crc check is there to keep honest people honest. and it is sacred in my mind. That being said, there are other factors involved here. yes it was an old version, yes it was a private server, and yes, supposedly everyone was aware of the conditions. It still shows that you are willing to step into that grey area. So you should understand why people could be alarmed of this.

the problem with his idea was that he isn't trustworthy himself judging by his post history being nothing but lies and tantrums. It's nice to beleive that a leapord can change it's spots, but theres doubt that someone would go from modder to anti-mod crusader and expect full cooperation.

but are you going to add th eability to turn of stats logging per idividual? my concern is if someone is just messing around and dies on purpose for whatever reasons their score gets skewed. wouldnt having it only record people who log in be more encouragement?

i dont understand why anyone would object. this script only gathers data if the player is logged into the script right? I would hate for nick stealers to screw someones overall score. and if someone doesnt want their scores tallied, they could just not log in or log out after logging in.

it isnt even out for pc. I'm sure it's just as moddable as vc and gta3. (which isn't much, but still moddable)

yeah, trusting someone enough to admin a server is hard enough, but a whole group is much harder. and if for some reason a bunch of servers decided to give you admin access, then the new members you recruit would likely be the wrong types who just crave power over others.

if someone is truly knocked down 3-4 times without losing hp, then I would say yes they probably are cheating. but keep in mind that cops have armor. btw: cheaters can often be killed with a 1-shot stubby hit or heli blades. (and rarely a car in gta3)

there are actually, they are called admins. for this group of yours to work you would need to have admin access to servers to grab ip addresses and enforce banns. do you think you will be given admin access to servers just because you want to be self-appointed cops? i wish you luck with your group.

if your connection is bad, then you appear choppy on others machine. it sounds like your vid card runs smooth enough so turning frame limiter off will just increase your game speed. you would want to keep it on. try running an adware removal tool and closing all other internet apps. look for closer servers too.
