Let him not just re-install but re-download MTA instead of using an previous installer. Then if it still doesnt work, let him take these steps: https://forum.multitheftauto.com/viewtopic.php?f=104&t=31668 and run MTADiag (above topic), and link the results to here;
-
Let him zip the contents of Program Files > MTA San Andreas 1.3 > MTA > Dumps > Private and upload it to http://upload.mtasa.com/ and put the link here, also include the core.log from the same directory.

Yes, this is because of an Netcode bug. Sadly enough it is now the Main download, and I believe being worked on. Everyone downloading MTA from the homepage now, will get this and cant play. You need to use an older revision (take https://nightly.multitheftauto.com/mtasa-1.3.5-rc-6355-20140428.exe ) until it has been patched, and everyone that downloads MTA until this is fixed, tell them this, or wait for someone to revert main download's version before it gets mass-downloaded. Also the explanation here is just a reference for players having this, simple enough take this version to fix it: https://nightly.multitheftauto.com/mtasa-1.3.5-rc-6355-20140428.exe

Take this one for that card: http://www2.ati.com/drivers/mobile/14-4-mobility-win7-win8-win8.1-64-dd-ccc-whql.exe After that delete your gta_sa.set from Documents > GTA San Andreas user files and launch GTA with MTA (don't set everything again with singleplayer) this has proven to fix this kind of issues for me if you do it that way Also (if you dont have important binds though) back-up Program files > MTA San Andreas 1.3 > MTA > coreconfig.xml and delete it and it'll re-generate there when you launch MTA again, do this at the same time as the gta_sa.set and start MTA once both of the files are gone. Make sure you do it in sequence: 1. first update the (possible) 14.4 ATI beta to release, then delete the configfiles and set your settings again After that dont touch driver overrides but check if it's fixed without altering it first, if so then check it and see the difference
-
The beta (6 days ago) or official release of 2 days ago?
-
What driver version for the Radeon do you use/updated to?
-
Do you use ATI gpu with driver 14.4? with that version it's better to not disable overrides as it is more optimized than before without it ticked. or what graphics card do you have?
-
Try fixing that typo first (22162/22126) in the forwarding page to see what it does.
-
what MTA version do you have? take this one; https://nightly.multitheftauto.com/?mtasa-1.3.5-rc-latest and post back what changed

original hud.txd: https://mega.co.nz/#!YAcEGCoT!8K_R1ad-VM8DwVSnhPKKNwMadkJ__f3KKsEoAdTDhtk wait, were you saying the data file wizard already fixed it?

If you have an 1.4 server already it will only allow 1.4 players to join (as that's the only thing possible at all) so just leave that blank or simply put '1.4' only there. However that error indicates config file corruption somewhere else in your config file, check it for typo's/string mistakes or compare it with a fresh mtaserver.conf. Better just replace the file and set everything again, as for me it's proven it took me a time to find a minimalistic error in config files (like info somewhere can make this happen as it misses a / at the end.) If you cannot get it done take it to server support section

It's also crashing for me, on adding objects with Map editor. but I have different crashdata: Version = 1.3.5-release-6317.0.000 Time = Sat Apr 19 17:14:12 2014 Module = C:\Program Files (x86)\MTA San Andreas 1.3\mods\deathmatch\client.dll Code = 0xC0000005 Offset = 0x000C85E6 EAX=0028F3E8 EBX=00000000 ECX=24184A28 EDX=00000020 ESI=248DF9A0 EDI=0028F3E8 EBP=0028F40C ESP=0028F3C4 EIP=19BB85E6 FLG=00010216 CS=0023 DS=002B SS=002B ES=002B FS=0053 GS=002B

Please upload the crashdumps somewhere and link it here. Program Files > MTA San Andreas 1.3 > MTA > Dumps > zip the folder there 'private' Also if this happens all the time, try if it crashes with this version: https://nightly.multitheftauto.com/mtasa-1.3.5-rc-6312-20140417.exe Do you have an nVidia graphics card? Also run MTAdiag: https://forum.multitheftauto.com/viewtopic.php?f=104&t=31668 and paste the results here

Sometimes, both when playing and hosting a server MTA is likely to flood your router with UDP requests and if your router isn't modern/good enough it will not function anymore (clients, that's why there is an Browser speed option) and with servers connected to an router that cannot handle many requests this can happen, as it fails to absorp all UDP requests it will temporary block UDP traffic to recover from what an older/bad router sees as 'UDP flood'

Okay, i get your problem, and something related to Launcher permissions (the issue you're explaining with administrator) just got fixed a few hours ago. However to try that out you will need to get the nightly, that you can download here: https://nightly.multitheftauto.com/mtasa-1.3.5-full_rc-6312-20140417.exe If that one works then reply back here with the results. By the way, did you manage to delete the virus and get an antivirus? Because viruses can affect the way MTA works so that can be another cause of it.

Provide a working link to the crash picture. If you can, also upload the crash dump from Program files > MTA San Andreas 1.3 > MTA > Dumps > Private. Use a filesharer and link here. Also copy and paste the crash info, from Program files > MTA San Andreas 1.3 > MTA > Core.log and then the last entry

Older topic, but still the subject of discussion so.. If you want to make something a standard rather than just an idea and optional, you need to start somewhere and give a set time for the transition and to prepare scripts. Unfortunately it's not a good thing for all server owners as it takes time to compile every script (but you can use an API as said above me, and make it easier/faster) but actually it's nessecary for security of both Client and server scripts protection. Servers: will be protected against script stealing better. Clients: Do you know what happens once you join a server and a resource is being downloaded? Yes, you copy third-party files to your computer. We know the discussion about 'nasty' files (non-standard scripts that can possibly be malicious) giving problems, but more specificly there might need to be a way in future to regulate such things for security. Like for that example... without compiling there can be several ways to put malicious files (viruses) into the files a client will download while playing on a server, and ways to pass the checks what is valid to run and what not. But think, if the only files a server can run in future, will be .luac (compiled scripts)... then you cannot put in other sorts of files. You cannot convert non-LUA strings (as example viruses in their malicious languages) to a compiled script because that isnt LUA. This way it's possible to avoid the scenario of malicious/unwanted files and viruses will lift with you when you're joining a server downloading its client scripts. So it's really needed for the second part, not forgetting the protection for servers and their scripts and I think some more features. The 'compiled junk' you are talking about is the logic between the things (functions) that are listed and the compiled stuff, but the complete compiled script you cannot turn into plain LUA easily and so on it's protected from unauthorized viewing and script stealing. And yes, it's neccesary. Maybe you've seen this being announced to be mandatory a time ago, it was like a transition period to get used to the Compiled script requirement in future.

Depends on your internet connection speed and how large the scripts are on your server (client-side, so just a part of the resources directory's size) Most of the times with a freeroam mode as default (play) it's a job of seconds. To make the internal download server also work you need to forward the right ports, use the correct ones from the 'openports' listing (all of them) to make sure
-
Just take the last one or cause a new crash with alt-tabbing and reproduce with that. Upload somewhere like a filesharer (not hard) and link it here but it's just so that you put the dumpfile here for reference if developers wanted to fix it in order to make MTA more compatible with most used mods (but unlikely that it has priority)

Some routers have problems with many UDP (serverlist) queries. Go to settings, advanced > set 'Browser speed' on slow or 'very slow' I dont fully understand the issue but if it's something with list refresh/renewal, check your firewall and add MTA as an exception also to allow its traffic, and secondly go to Program Files > MTA San Andreas 1.3 > MTA > delete ''servercache.xml'' and try again
-
You mainly need to forward the ports on the router itself, search online for its manual with the standard adress (like 192.168.x.x in webbrowser) and use a port forwaring guide (easy to find but router and brand specific) Sometimes the router only mirrors the actual internet so then you would need to open the port on the main net modem (mostly cable ones and reachable with another page) and then both on there as the wireless router. About that wireless adapter, if you connect it to a router that has open ports it'll work, isn't wifi receiver specific

Worked, thank you. Lock this post please. No problem. For future reference if anyone else finds a hard time with their server not showing, server-id.keys stores the info that lets ASE server show it in the browser, and your servercache is a list of cached server listings, so your net doesnt get flooded with queries every time you run MTA but can store old info sometimes.
-
As last resort (your ports seems open according to the image of openports) back-up server-id.keys and delete it (it regenerates) from the server, and from your client delete servercache.xml (also back-up), wait for 24 hours for listing and look again.

If it's a crash because of mods like Ultrathing it's almost never getting fixed by MTA but to be sure whether it's possible to, or to look at a fix, please upload the crash dump from Program Files > MTA San Andreas 1.3 > MTA > dumps > Private Make sure to take the most recent dump (with all recent drivers and such already installed) and link it.
