I have completed work on a single player mission with Dodo bombing implemented. Anyone interested can practice his flying and bombing skills for when and if this mod goes Multiplayer. New features are: - A complete mission built around the bombing - Cutscenes - Removed all Unique Jumps - Mission is given to you by DARKEL, the mysterious guy who didn't make it in the final version of GTA3 Get it at the link which flamin-h was already so kind to post (above) Have fun =)

Yeah, I think this is shaping up to be a possibility. Usually I have enough ammo to kill 4 or 5 guys. After that, have to use my knife, or the grenade I always forget about. So how would this sound? - Increased stamina (possibly infinite?) - Increased Hitpoints 110% - Ability to heal other players for 30 Hitpoints per healthpack - Ability to revive killed players if not dismembered - A Baseball bat? - 4-6 Clips Colt - 1-2 Clips Uzi - 1-2 Grenades - Can only use initial weapontype - Can only drive an Ambulance (muhahaaa LOL) naaah -

I suppose the medic could be seen by teammembers as a green dot, and wounded teammembers as a red dot or something. It doesn't matter much since in wolfenstein I also never know where to go, I just stick with a small group or a Luitenant. If they die or get wounded, I can heal or revive them. It really adds something special to the gameplay for me. The drawback of a medic is the low ammo (1 clip Uzi, 3 clips Colt and a grenade. But the advantage is a slow life regeneration. In wolfenstein, ammo can be given to you by a luitenant. That's probably not a good idea for GTA3, so i'm not sure as how to balance the medic's weapons. -

Why not give them the option? I play Wolfenstein, and I'm always (well almost) an allied medic. The medic can revive shot down players, but not exploded ones =( When Players are shot down, they can wait for a medic or choose to respawn. Because I really like being a medic in RTCW, I have coded something similar for GTA3. It works as follows: (lol) Someone got shot (oh really?) The Medic goes there. The medic gets a special item (uh... the remote control explosives thingie) by pressing space bar. He presses fire and waits for the blue text_status bar to fill (about 3-4 secs) And hurrah! the teammember is alive again, hurt (75% Hp's), but alive and on the spot. The medic has to be close for it to work. I kinda thought that would be sweet. So if you see a guy dressed in green with a st00pid green hat carrrying an Uzi walking in LC someday, that would be me. -

This *might* be an option, I know of other games that share custom maps (StarCraft) and the .IPL and .IDE files are small enough to synchronize, the problem is that it isn't just those files that you need to download, the gta3.dat file also needs to be adjusted to use the map files. And all that is without new models like the ones used in ultimate stuntpark. To have new models too, you'd have to change all of the above, and add the models to the gta3.img file. A 3d model is about 10kb, and to make a complete new map you'd need thousands of those. All in all, custumized maps for gta3 internet multiplay probably isn't going to happen. Ofcourse if you have any maps or mods installled, and copy that exact version to other computers over LAN, there would be no problems. except for copyright problems =P

Confirmed. You are not allowed to alter the contents of the gta3.exe, and then publish them. It isn't a big deal, since to start Multiplayer, you'd select which server you want to play on, select a gametype and then load up gta3 and start a new game. Though I agree, it would be real cool to have a Multiplayer option on the main screen, then set all the options like server and modus there. But that's not gonna happen anytime soon.

lol, that's great. Anyways, I know a littlebit about mapping, but nothing about modeling. If you guys need a mapper, I'd be willing to help out. Though, I do not encourage the use of map mods for compatibility reasons.

That might work, it's a bit complex though. Maybe since the MTA team plans on using actors, it could be done like this: 00D6: if( 0?, 00DB: actor($player_01) in_car($car_01) 004D: ) jump_if_false(£somewhere) 01C8: create_actor( 4?, 090?, 0?, $player_02) as_car($car_01)_passenger -
Ultimate Deathmatch situation? I thought the other mod didn't support firing weapons. MTA the worst mod for GTA3? You care to reconsider that? Geez, talk about switching sides...

I've just read something about it as well on gtaforums.com. The whole thing is being written in C++ by one guy. I wonder how far he will get by himself, and if it would be a good idea to put this guy on the MTA team as well. I don't see a reason why there should be two mediocre mods when there can be one that's excellent.

I don't think there are going to be any skins, since your character will be displayed as an actor. So it's more likely to see the Eight-Balls Vs the Maria's or whatever actors you can choose from. And since a Skin is roughly 200Kb, it was unlikely anyways that custum skins would be supported in online games.

Just delete this thread, Blokker. We really do not need such pessimists. By posting such messages, more People will stop believing in the mod, and then I'm afraid the Developers WILL stop, which would make us very sad indeed. We need to keep the spirit alive (even though it is hard when hardly any progress has been made for a while) We are here to keep everyone excited about it, not to put them down.

Actually, I like to think GTA3 was also designed to mod the hell out of it. I can't think of a single thing that cannot be modded in GTA3 except the hardcoded stuff which runs the whole interface and gfx engine. All music & sound, models, text and missions can be altered pretty easily.

New game type idea: VIP, assassins, and bodyguards

What about the VIP being able to revive his bodyguards? This would give him something to do, since he has no weapons, only a Handgun for defense. -
http://www.gta3.net has hunderds of cars, it has most of the the cars that are released globally. This site is turning to be the GTAZZ ( http://azz.gouranga.com ) of GTA3, only its slower and less functional. They are improving though...

If i'm reading this correctly, (probably not) the idea is to use GTA2 music to replace the GTA3 music? Or add those two stations as extra stations in GTA3? *shrug* why not simply replace the files with an mp3 stream of the gta2 music, and rename them to HEAD.WAV or MSX.WAV etc. And use the GXT editor to display the original station names.

I agree with you, xerox. I think he got a *little* carried away there. Having only the Dodo drop bombs is good enough as far as i'm concerned, and I don't even know if they MTA team is willing to implement this.
