  1. phoenix^ you mentioned you where considering joining another gang rather than forming another of the many small, low member count ones that are springing up all the time. You would be more than welcome in VCA, (Vice City Army), as would all applicants other than cheaters/ disruptive players. We are a training gang as well as participating in normal gang activities such as gang wars, driving competitions etc. Take a look at http://forum.mtavc.com/viewtopic.php?t=3188 for more information.

I use zone alarm and set at a very high 'level', All you need to do is tick 'allow this program to access the internet' and 'allow to act as a server' when you first run it and the ZA window pops up and it should allow it from then on. If you have that option turned off then simply go to the 'programs' section and add mta then give it the relevant permissions.

  4. SM challenged us to a match last night whilst we where in the middle of a public server invasion. VCA outnumbered SM so we 'lent' them two of our squad, Annrke and TitaniumEyes, to even things out. Rules where as follows: VCA to start at construction site SM to start at mansion Once dead players to stay at spawn area until next round was called. Last man(men) standing to be victors of round. After a dodgy start with many timeouts and some tag swapping due to lending players the cal to GO GO GO was given and VCA rushed headlong to the mansion where SM had decided to sit and wait, upon reaching the mansion somebody tried to chop us up with the hunter, but some swift gunfire from xerox and mysellf soon had it crashing to the ground in flames, incinerating the pilot. There followed an enormous gunfight with granades, bullets and molotovs flying everywhere around the mansion grounds, resulting in only annrkey still standing for SM, and only one losss for VCA (Heck), in mid duel between myself and annr inside the mansion the server decided it couldnt hndle this much activity and went down. It was agreed round one went to VCA. We then tried another server, but unfortunately the admin switched on his firewall midgame and we all got disconnected from it, resulting in many SM not bothering to return. So overall a great showing by VCA, no officers where killed, and although heck was lost in that sole round he faught valiently up to that point and with further training he will not drop quite so quickly. The match will continue when a stable server with enough upstream is secured.

  6. bsr you evidently do not have a clue what you are talking about, try researching and finding information about the mta betas released so far, the netcode, the average ping etc. i will NOT stand for 'bandwidth bigotry' on here, MTA is free for ALL, not some group of stuck up elitist broadband users who feel they shouldnt have to associate with anyone with a ping over a certain number. High ping != Worthness. So get over it or go frequent some other forum.
  7. I have said this elsewhere but ill repeat, If you pick up a cheaters weapons PLEASE jump into the water to die, this prevents the next person picking them up from your body. Therefore preventing the weapons from spreading across the server and cutting short others accusing YOU of cheating.
  8. The vehicles have long been chosen and positioned for 0.2 so this threads current direction is pretty pointless
  9. There seems to be some misunderstanding about the progress indicators on the website. They purely represent our rough estimate of how complete the various parts of the next release (currently 0.2) is, NOT how close we are to releasing a finished product, 0.2 will be a BETA, it will NOT be anything but a beta until we get to version 1.0. As soon as 0.2 is released the bars will drop back down to indicate how complete we feel 0.3 is. It is also not related to time at all, ie if it go's up 2 dots in one week that does not mean that the remaining dots will take a week each, we may complete what we feel is 20% more gameplay in 2 days, then take 3 weeks to do what we feel is another 5% for instance. As for the core, there are posts elsewhere that explain what this is and how it fits into mta and releases so i wont rehash all that here
  10. MTA works fine in Win2k pro, which is what i use myself, in fact as you have no need to mess around with compatibility modes it works better in it that in XP. (which i also tried, and removed after an hour to go back to win2k)

Usually it is merely lag, your client sees him in the position he was a split secodn before and therefore registers a hit, whereas in his he has moved on, but this accounts for maybe 50% of 'fake hits' so if you REALLY cant kill the guy, especially if he is using a weapon that requires him to stand still, then he probably is in fact cheating. 0.2 will make this a lot easier to judge thanks to the health bars. There are some issues with Z axis (shooting someone above/below you) that mean u can both stand dead still and appear to be hitting each other when u are both in fact missing. The best way around this i have found is to spray your shots up and down by a full player height, that way some will hit. (usually indicated by your target moving out of the way pretty sharpish ) SM Gulag, you are incorrect, and i will thank you not to undermine the mta teams official line on what causes problems. i think you will agree we have a much greater understanding of what does what in mta than yourself. A modified car is unacceptable for 3 main reasons, One yes it CAN cause crashing and horrendous desync, if it is 2 inches thinner the driver can squeeze thru a gap that other players clients wont accept. resulting in the car being stuck at the entrance for all other players, and the cheater (yes CHEATER) driving on. Cue desync which can lead to crashing for both the cheat and the other players. The second reaon is it is CHEATING, you have an unfair advantage, handling, speed, size etc all non-standard, destroying the chance of a fair race/chase. Thirdly it is a breach of the user agreement. Read it, we can take any action we deem nececcary to deal with people who break the agreement, including hard coding thier details into future releases to prevent them playing at all.
  12. If yes what? If its released you'll soon know about it so why would we need to email you? If its not released there is no way we would give anyone a full fileset of a buggy release and let it be distrobuted amongst hundreds of lanners. A buggy release would besmirch the reputation of mta not improve it. Not to mention the massive leaks that would follow.
  13. Who cares about battlefield1942? this is mta, and the only person who suffered in the testing was the person who had a 995 ping at one point, the rest of us, no matter our ping, had perfectly acceptable gameplay.
  14. Basically no, we do not alter your draw distance in any way, its merely taking slightly more processing power to run mta as it involves more players than originally designed for (ie more than one) and therefore your machine may take a few seconds to render.
  15. Some are already there, music studio for instance. Others can be added but are hardly a priority at this time.

  17. We are planning to make at least one vehicle per spawn area return home after it has been left idle for a certain amount of time to ensure there is always a ride for new players. I cannot however say if this will make it into 0.2, as there are many more important scm changes that need to be adressed first.

  21. Nothing so devious or complicated as using trainers or editing the scm, anyone can do the same (although people found doing so will be banned as this guy was) Obviously i'm not going to explain how, as there are many idiots read these forums. CLOSED
  22. There are many other small fixes and features (the vehicle exit crash is long gone for instance- cause of 99% of Unhandled Exception crashes) But we like to provide a few surprises rather than reveal all extras
  23. a frag total that when reached makes someone a 'winner' and forces a restart is not suitable for mta, for games such as UT and Quake yes, as they are out and out shooters. Gta and therefore mta are so much more than that. Unparalleled freedom of action and play style is a cornerstone of the series and this will be maintained. Racers and stunters arent going to like having their carefully setup stunt areas reset just because some trigger happy guy wasted a bunch of people for instance. What is likely to happen however is game modes/ mini games (when included in later releases) that are of the DM/CTF/KOTH type will have a target to reach which will at that point announce a winner and reset to zero, but this will only effect that particular area/arena/game, not the entire 'world' that is running parralell.
