  1. Something like that is possible, but not necessarily that feasible right now. Future versions we will see.
  2. To quickly answer the questions: The jumping you are seeing is a side effect of lag and the "teleportation" method that we are forced to use as we do not have access to the GTA source. GTAT and MTA do things very differently, so the "lag" that you experience will be different in either mod. Only time will tell which is better. Blocking movement keys is actually a problem that seems to have plagued both mods. We are currently working on a method to prevent this, but I do not think this will prevent a release (if it's fixed, it's fixed, if not, oh well). The chat displaying 3 lines is actually somewhat impossible right now. There is only two ways to fix this, with both taking a lot of ways. One would be to have internal timers change the text that is displayed on the fly (hard to calculate). The second would be to have an overlay that does not use GTA's at all (extremely hard to implement right now). Neither is feasible .... yet.
  3. I assume you mean chatting? As far as I know, gtat vc has had chatting since 0.1a. MTA:VC will also have chatting in-game.
  4. Download the latest DivX codec and play in either the official divx player (comes with the codec bundle), or use another player.
  5. Movies take time to create, which takes away from development. Feature list will take time to write and I honestly don't feel like writing it. Sorry
  6. Not recently no. We have pretty much freezed the feature list for the next release, so we are now in the process of fixing bugs (and believe me, we are finding lots of little things that need attention). Needless to say, with the feature list being frozen we really have nothing "new" to show you. Anything you would like us to show?
  7. Chatting ingame is not supported in 0.3b.
  8. You have to have some sort of externel web site that you can post from. It could be one of those free ones, one you run yourself / off a friend, whatever. Then you just use the img codes to make it appear from the link.
  9. Alright, to answer questions .... "can we ride the same car with other players?" Not currently ... there is code in place for this to work, but it has not been tested completely and is not working 100%. This will most likely not be included in 0.3.5 BETA, and possibly not the 0.3.5 FINAL, but something should be included in 0.4 if not a patch between the two. "so long as it notifies you when you've been disconnected" A message is displayed in game as well as the Client upon disconnection. This only really ever happens though when either your internet connection goes down or the Server's internet connections goes down (or Server application shut down). Internet Connections I am not 100% on the internet connections that were used in the movie, but I can tell you some of the internet connections used by the team members. I am currently on Cable (1500/384) and have absolutely no problem with lag. Sintax and AJH are on faster cable than myself and obviously also have no problems. trx is on dial-up and from what he has told me has very little / non-existent lag. We have programmed the Client / Server communication to be MUCH more efficient then any previous version. It was stated that the upload rate was some insane amount like 16 kb/s (am I correct?) on the old system. Well, the new communication standard does not exceed 2-3kb/s in theoretical terms (untested). All in all, we haven't had any problems and further optimizations can be done.
  10. Although I cannot say for certain, but I do not believe that trx modded it to put in that vehicle. I am pretty sure it is an actual vehicle within the game, just not available until you complete something ... I think
  11. We will attempt to put out some new movies at some point. We are experiecing some weird things (crashing, etc...) when Fraps is running with the new Client. We will have to figure out these problems before anything can happen ... damn!

Maybe rhinox should look at the development screenshots, and then come back and try to coward away as his opinion of us just shot through the roof. Go play your precious GTAT, because your not wanted here.
  13. Where did you download this file from? A CRC Error means that the extracted file's signature is not the same as the signature upon writing the zip archive. The zip archive stores information about the files within it so that upon extraction validation can be done so that no files are corrupted. Somehow the file is being corrupted, but I do not believe you are downloading it off of the official MTA mirrors. Try that instead.

  18. I have decided to start a thread for the Development Screenshots that I post in the #gta3mta channel on our IRC Server. These screenshots will be from any point in the development phase and not necessarily will result in the final release. I will most likely not be the one actually posting the images (MrBump probably), but all screenshots that are posted here will be from a team member of some sort and if not, they will be deleted. Hope you are all excited about 0.3.5. I know we are. A BIG thanks to MrBump for hosting these images!!!

    I am also only played the released versions a handle of times. Beta versions I obviously play on a nearly daily basis.
  20. Although we do things very differently now, we will definately look to see if that portion of the main.scm can help us in any way. Shooting is actually working quite well for us, but is not in any way perfect. We definately value your input and all of the help we can get is great!

    release delay?

    0.3.5, the official release, is coming out when we are ready. We are getting closer to being "finished" the 0.3.5 code for GTA3 and will move on to VC. We hope that the transfer between the two will not be that hard, as most of the work will be in the main.scm (which is fairly easy). The current Client supports both GTA3 and VC and does not have the new or old netcode, but a hybrid between the two. We have opted this way as it was a lot easier to implement what we have already done then go through all of the troubles when implementing the new netcode. The new netcode will still be implemented and tested for stability, but most likely not for 0.3.5. As of right now, we have weapon model syncing along with firing / reloading / etc.. (everything but the damn Y-axis). We also have player syncing with most of the animations and car syncing with pretty much everything but the in / out animation. We have a lot working and are trying to fine tune it to be releasable. But, as I said before, we still want to switch over the VC version and see about making it work properly with the new client (basic support is in, just not all)
