Constant sun is cheating, just as fullbright is cheating in CS/HL. eAi

If you run it with -help you'll see the options There are also some hidden options that override the config ones, these are --map --name --players --port --ase --pass. Values are the same as the config ones. eAi

Can you send your gta-vc.exe to me eAi[at]opencoding[dot]net ? I'll look into why this is happening. You posted this in the Blue forum by the way. eAi

Maybe we'll go with 0.5 sp1

In case you don't read the main page, a server patch has been released that fixes a number of issues. Read http://forum.mtavc.com/viewtopic.php?t=11229 for more.

We've just released a patch for the MultiTheftAuto 0.5 server. You can download this from the MultiTheftAuto 0.5 download page by clicking here. This patch fixes a number of issues that have come to light since the release. These include: - Crash when a pm is sent to a non-existent user ID - Large memory leak causing the server to increase to several hundred megabytes over an hour of use - Server names being too long and causing some issue for connecting and in-client information. - Prevented triggering bug in mIRC that was preventing MTAMA from connecting in some instances. We will also be releasing a patch for the MultiTheftAuto 0.5 client at some point, the contents and release date have not been finalised. We hope you're enjoying MultiTheftAuto 0.5!

The thing is, each player would have to quit (or maybe we'd do it auto) every time. I think people would find that quite irritating really... eAi

I'm pretty sure that is in the manual.... It should be pretty obvious really. It says "All Seeing Eye listing enabled. Port xxxx must be accessible from the internet."

A fix for this has been added to the next server update which we will be releasing in a few hours. eAi

Search. We've said before, mod authors will be able to do this, and almost anything else they'd want to. eAi

The only thing that could cause this would be the MTA error reporter, but this should refuse to attach itself to a game if it isn't running MTA... Try reinstalling as suggested. eAi

We're actually getting too many error reports now. The reports per user has gone down, roughly 4 crashes per user - much higher in 0.4, which is a good sign, but the actual number of users has increased hugely (over 2000 based on IPs). Clearly the best way to resolve this is to fix the crashes. In the meantime, please make sure you write notes. They really help us hugely. Only about 4.43% of crashes have notes at the moment. eAi

http://www.portforward.com/ You need to forward port 2126 (by default, assuming the server is on port 2003). eAi

I'm not sure why this is an MTA bug. The normal admin works fine (well enough) in my testing and other user's. They only have problems with MTAMA - surely that indicates that theres a bug in MTAMA?eAi

Putting yourself in the DMZ is not to be recommended. You make yourself 100% open to all the net nasties. You should just redirect the correct query port to your computer, (server port +123 I think). If you do have to put yourself in the DMZ for it to work, make sure you run an effective firewall. eAi

vap3r has just been testing out a new server I sent him (no, don't ask him for it) and reports that the memory is much more stable now. We will probably release a server update tommorrow, depending if any other issues arise. The fixes that will be in this update for certain are: - Fix for PM crash - Fix for Admin+ joining a non Admin+ server - Fix for memory leaks (and some minor ones) - Fix for server name being too long There are some other issues we will also be looking into, we may fix these too. Please post a new topic if you know of any other bugs that aren't in the Known Issues thread. eAi

The client tells you what IP your friends should use to connect. It really can't get much simpler i'm afraid. Look at the website mentioned above to see how to forward ports if thats the problem (you have a router), and make sure your firewall is disabled. eAi

Can we keep on-topic please, it makes it much easier for us to find info on bugs if they stay in their topics.

If you idle on IRC, I'll contact you when I'm around and have it ready.

Yes, we will release another version of 0.5, we're not sure if we'll call it 0.5.1 though. eAi

Don't normally post here, just read an interesting article that some of you might find interesting if you want to justify "why gaming is good" (to parents/teachers/relations etc) http://www.pbs.org/kcts/videogamerevolu ... myths.html Enjoy...
