Try temporarily removing the D3D9.dll in the GTA:SA directory and see if you still get freezes.

Make sure your volume settings are all maxed out; if they are, perhaps your speakers or headphones are malfunctioning somehow.

Plug your speakers/headphones into the motherboard's green output port and get rid of the ancient SB Live! card. The two driver updates worked properly.

After the error, does the installation continue or exit?

Try disabling HydraVision (whatever HydraDM.exe is in the list), as well as whatever D3DOverrider.exe is.

How are you connecting to the Internet?

Please try using windowed mode. Go to your Multi Theft Auto installation directory, then open MTA\coreconfig.xml with Notepad. Find 0 and change it to 1. Save and close the file.

Neither the graphics driver nor the audio driver updated successfully. Please try installing them again. You can test if GTA:SA single player works by launching gta_sa.exe and trying to play the game as normal.
