  1. 0.5 is quite old and outdated, since the MTA team's current priority is getting MTA:SA DM finished. The majority of the players still playing 0.5 are playing VC. I don't know whether the MTA team will be making a GTA3: Blue, or even VC: Blue for that matter. Blue is the codename of the new core; it's not scm based, and uses LUA scripting, so everything's much better and the game's moddable.
  2. Close all other programs and try again. MTA 0.5's anti-cheat system is quite cryptic; if it detects anything running with the name "hack, trainer, cheat, blood" and possibly a few other names, then it disconnects (or refuses to connect) and just says "Suspected Trainer Usage".
  3. Your firewall doesn't block this. Try reinstalling MTA.

    Mtad.SCM

Your problem doesn't lie in the MTAD.SCM. Reinstall both GTA + MTA.
  5. Been having some trouble since the motorcycle passenger bug workaround isn't working correctly. It still often results in crashes, and I don't know why. It's probably the workaround itself as I've tried it with an unchanged scm. Meh. Otherwise, everything is complete except for the stubby walkglitch fix (I know how to fix it, just very hard to reproduce so it's hard to test whether it's fixed or not). It's sort of a rare bug so I don't know whether I'll bother fixing it. Once I fix the motorcycle thing, I'll do a little bit more final testing then go talk to IJs again.
  6. This isn't VC-MP. It's MTA. Start by closing all other programs. If that doesn't work, reinstall MTA. If that doesn't work, your anti-virus/firewall probably has the word "hack" in it. Turn them off.
  7. I thought it was full unicode?

    mac os x

Because there isn't. Does GTA:VC even run on Mac OS X?
  9. I think you're in the wrong forum, or confused about the status of MTA:SA DM. MTA:SA DM is not released yet. It'll be released when it's done. If you want the SA-MP Linux dedicated server (assuming such a thing exists), then go post on the SA-MP forums. A quick Google search for "samp linux dedicated server" reveals nothing.
  10. The motorcycle fix appears to be bugged. If you get on a bike as a driver with no passenger, then get off, and someone else gets on as the driver, then you try to get on as a passenger, you jack the driver but still get on as passenger, therefore a crash occurs. Haven't a clue what's causing it, and don't know what to do to try to fix it either. I'd like to test Pay n Sprays again but I don't have enough memory for it. Just defining the Pay n Spray garages takes up ~256 bytes (and I've only got a little less than that available). Adding the fix would take up another ~256 bytes, and I have no way to free any more memory since I've already done everything I can think of. Besides fixing the motorcycle thing, I'd like to define z-angles for every interior. This won't take too long and it'll stop an infinite loop which can occur in some cases if you exit an interior facing backwards, for example. EDIT: Or not. That actually causes infinite loops. Nevermind that, then.
  11. MTA 0.5 is a beta product. Not only that, but the MTA team has switched their primary focus to MTA: San Andreas. I don't know whether there will be an updated version on the new core for Vice City, but it's possible. The anti-cheat is easily bypassed, which is why you see a lot of hackers and such. The synchronization could be better, but this is an scm based mod (scm is GTA's mission code), and it's not ideal at all for a multiplayer mod. When cars explode on your screen, they sometimes don't on others (the other player may be paused) and sometimes they just get into an invisible car and drive away, yes. A byproduct of sync. In fact, probably the majority of the crashes is caused by being out of sync. Pausing accelerates this; if you pause a lot, it screws up sync and the best thing to do would be to restart. I've been coding an unofficial update for MTA:VC; thread here. Not done yet, but close. We'll see how everything turns out.
  12. Open "mta.ini" in your Multi Theft Auto folder and add a line under [Main], DontGetLatest=1 Should work.
  13. Try starting the game again after receiving the error. The error usually goes away after that.
  14. Not been an update for a bit. Upon further testing, Cleaver and Machete seem to be partially synced. Sometimes they work, usually they don't. VCC still has Hammer and removed the Cleaver from the toolshops.
  15. your last one was hurting ppls eyes @_@ Au contraire. That one was a minor annoyance. This one hurts much, much more. http://img239.imageshack.us/img239/6595 ... 841zj3.gif
  16. Run it in XP SP2 compatibility mode.
  17. Impossible to get one for free. The integrated graphics is technically a video card, but a very poor one. It also uses some system RAM instead of its own RAM, which is why you have 478MB of RAM instead of 640MB.
  18. Fixed the spawn menu. I started with an unchanged mtad.scm and added things until it crashed. I wasted my time, spawning ~100 times. However, I fixed it; the cause was moving code to mission 0. I should stop moving or removing important-looking code. Anyway, I spawned 22 times as a Robber, and no crash occured. Yay! No more major bugs in the scm now.
  19. Memory's fine. "DEFINE MEMORY" stands at 5521. Though that memory is just for global variables. I don't think increasing it will cause a crash. It CAN crash when you increase the memory on that line Reduced the memory to 5417. Still crashes. I also tried disabling the new threads I've made and that didn't do anything. I could try using an original mtad.scm and copying over all of the fixes and such but that will take quite a while... I'd rather not do that, but I'll leave that as a last resort.
  20. Yes. But just try to run the game anyway, I think the game creates it. If it has an error that it can't find weapon.mta, just try once more. If that doesn't work, reinstall MTA again.
  21. Size first 4 segments: 225,354 Max: 225,512 Largest mission: 35,594 Max: 35kb (35,840) Memory's fine. "DEFINE MEMORY" stands at 5521. Though that memory is just for global variables. I don't think increasing it will cause a crash. Regarding some weapons... the Machete and Cleaver are unsynced. I've also tested the Knife and the Screwdriver. Since VCC spawns with the Machete, I've had to replace it with a different weapon. The synced melee weapons are Chainsaw, Golf Club, Hammer, Katana, and Nightstick. I chose Hammer. Maybe I should replace it with the Golf Club? I've removed the Cleaver from all of the toolshops, and placed a Hammer in the toolshop at North Point Mall (since it had no weapons at all before). I've also added a Golf Club spawn near the Caddy at Leaf Links. Also, VCC had double ammo on all weapons for some reason. I don't know why this is, but I've solved the problem by halving the ammo numbers and everything's fine. EDIT: It was the ghetto armor fix doubling everything. But now I can't get 50 armor to stick on VCC. Urgh... SCM is confusing when it comes to armor. I wish I knew what causes the spawn menu crash. This is the only major bug left to fix.
  22. We've tested the new american.gxt by going in every car on the DM map (excluding duplicates), and then going on Stunt and checking the vehicles that aren't in DM. I accidentally deleted two vehicles, but I've re-added them now. There are two crash bugs. One is where you spawn, get in a vehicle, and crash. This seems pretty rare... I'm thinking the "dead-in-car" check does this but I've not been able to reproduce this crash today yet. The other is if you spawn around 6 or more times (I've only tested with the same skin, not changing skin every spawn), a crash occurs when you spawn. Not a clue what causes this, although didn't this happen in normal 0.5 anyway? I think it did, but I'd like someone to confirm that. EDIT: I spawned 10 times with the same skin (Cop) with the original MTAD.SCM and there were no crashes. I'll try a few things to see if the problem's solved. EDIT2: After spawning 7 times, the crash occurs. I've tried restoring the original spawn roof. That didn't fix it. EDIT3: Restored original armor. Still didn't fix it. EDIT4: Tried older version, 0.9b10. It crashes after only 6 spawns. I'll try one without interiors, 0.9b3. Very old. EDIT5: 0.9b3 crashes after 5 or so. I guess stability increased with the newer versions. I've looked for common features in all of the three versions I've tested. Only the MTA 0.4 help marker removal, the Sabre Turbo coords fix, and the Ingram fix are the common features. I doubt any of those could cause it. Seriously, I'm clueless about this one. Might as well go on to try to reproduce the other crash I was talking about earlier. EDIT6: Tried 10 times to trigger the spawn -> get in vehicle crash, to no avail. I've reproduced the situation where I crashed the most; spawning Cop downtown and going into the FBI Rancher. Maybe I fixed it somehow without knowing it. Whatever, I don't think this crash exists anymore. EDIT7: Tried the spawn menu crash with Robber instead of Cop. Still crashes. Otherwise, we've fixed some interior bugs, infinite loops in interiors, fixed passenger helikilling (it was still possible to heli-kill if the heli's blades were vertical while turning), and an incorrect ID for one of the motorcycle fixes. Nothing major. I think I'll try to fix Pay n Sprays again later.
