I rebuilt MTA 0.5's installer to be playable out of the box (via external server browser), but there are still no significant gameplay updates. I know you all are tired of playing 0.5 as it was back in early 2005, but for the time being this is the best I could do. More to come, I hope! Details & Download Enjoy the nostalgia.

Verify your ports are open.

I've compiled a repack of MTA 0.5's full installer. This does not include my SCM updates or any other significant client updates. Changelog: Those are the *only* changes in this repack. There have been no updates to actual gameplay or sync. The idea is to have a working and patched 0.5 installation out of the box. KNOWN ISSUES WITH MTABrowser: When running Windows Vista or 7, you are unable to connect to a server in MTAClient after pressing "Connect" in MTABrowser. Solution: Run MTABrowser as an Administrator (right click the shortcut or the actual .exe -> "Run as administrator"). Not sure if this is fixable, sorry! Spamming the "Refresh" button may cause the server list to appear twice in its entirety (screenshot) (does not affect Linux version) Solution: Don't spam the button! This may be fixed in a future release. Download Or download the manual installation archive if you prefer

External Server Browser for 0.x released. In other news, Stoku tracked down some memory addresses to have the game continue executing when the pause menu is active (no more pausers in DM, plus there should be less desync), disable the replay functions (these also caused massive desync if pressed; disabling these via memory address is better than the workaround from my previous post), and disable trains in MTA3 (this fixes a crash that *every* player in-game would get if somebody tried boarding a train). The addresses would have to be nop'd in MTAClient, I can't do it via SCM. I've been dragging my feet on finishing MTA3's SCMs. I should get those overwith.

This is a modification of mabako's External Server Browser that will display all Multi Theft Auto 0.x servers from Game-Monitor and launch MTAClient with the IP/port and nickname fields filled in. To install, extract the archive into your Multi Theft Auto directory and run MTABrowser.exe. Thanks to adamix for modifying the original program source to work with 0.x servers! KNOWN ISSUES: When running Windows Vista or 7, you are unable to connect to a server in MTAClient after pressing "Connect" in MTABrowser. Obviously, it only displays the list of servers since MTAClient 0.x does not run natively on Linux. Source is available here, and mabako's original source is here.

Results of the first annual MTA LAN/ Funtime Party
Towncivilian replied to Slothman's topic in B.L.A.S.T.
How come you guys aren't answering my pm's? You all said that having this party wouldnt change things online, but now your all ignoring my messages like everything is my fault. -
New: I'm also working on modifying mabako's External Server Browser to show a list of 0.5 servers and launch MTAClient with IP, port, password (if applicable), and nickname filled in. Got the browser working in Linux but that's not terribly useful. Working on getting it to compile in Windows. EDIT: It shows both VC and GTA3 servers, which is good. EDIT2: Works with all 0.x servers.

That is more than enough.

Try deleting "GTA_SA.set" in your "My Documents\GTA San Andreas User Files" directory.
-
Great! Topic locked.

I believe SA Limited Edition is >1.0. What edition and language of GTA:SA do you own?
-
I updated, there is no D3DX9_42.dll in the MTA folder, and there isn't any gta_sa.set in the GTA San Andreas User Files. I think it's because I dont have the version 1.0, but the downgraders doesn't work. You need GTASA 1.0 for MTASA to work properly.
-
Update your DirectX runtimes and try deleting D3DX9_42.dll in the \MTA\ folder of Multi Theft Auto. If that doesn't work, try deleting gta_sa.set in the "GTA San Andreas User Files" directory in your "My Documents" folder. What is your OS and video card?
-
This topic is from 2006. No wonder it's broken.
-
GPU-Z will tell you your graphics card. To find out what operating system you're running, go to Start -> Control Panel -> System, or press Windows Key + Pause/Break at the same time. Try deleting "gta_sa.set" in the "GTA San Andreas User Files" directory in your "My Documents" folder.

Add that to the changelog! it's been there
-
There was a driver update released today for nVidia cards, you can try that if you wish. If that doesn't work, take varez' suggestion and try an older version of nVidia drivers.

Question: are we ever going to see MTA:VC 1.0?
Towncivilian replied to Burger_Man's topic in General MTA:VC
What I'm trying to say is that the more complex mods are relative rarities. Actually, I don't really know what I'm trying to say. What the hell are we talking about again? -

Towncivilian replied to Burger_Man's topic in General MTA:VC
By "common" I meant simpler crap like vehicle mods, handling mods, texture mods, etc.
