How are we going to get the old players back into mta?

I also thought about blue. IMO I think the old players aren't really looking for a moddable vc but a better one by stability, lag, and syncing. I don't care about blue for mods. All I want is a simple game thats synced.

Indeed, this is the greatest of needs. If shooting people was as responsive as it is in other online games, DM would rock.

The main reason I rarely fight in MTA, is because I hate the "shoot 20 times, to hopefully hit your target" BS.

The stubby would not have a chance if only this game synced attacks properly :lol: Right now, players just run past machine gun fire like this is the fking matrix or something :shock: Taking out the stubby now is not the solution. EVERY GUN SUCKS TO USE RIGHT NOW. They have to get the attacks synced for DM to ever be fun\fair for the masses.

I know saying that does not make me popular, but it is true fellows. "IF" blue syncs attacks, your stubby dominance days are over. :P

I do not hate the stubby. I hate how it is currently the only gun that can sync decently enough to be effective. :wink:

i cant agree with that. i think all guns are synced the same, but i think what u mean is that the stubby is most effective, since thats gtavc's nature.

well stubby is not in gtavc's nature.....who used stubby in single player?? no1!! why?? coz it sucks!!

My favourite raging weapon in Vice City singleplayer would be the m60, but that's irrelevant :P

The other day when I was playing World of Warcraft, the servers were terribly laggy, hit a monster and it would appear 2-10 metres from you.

This got me thinking of MTA and might be the reason I didn't get so frustrated. (No offence.)

I think it's unbelivable that I can play a whole day using so little bandwith and the world is so perfectly synched.

- Synch the weapons better, whatever method has to be used.

I know that the MTA team is a small group of people, and is working on a software that's for a game not intended to be online.

The WoW team consist of more than 60 programmers, support etc.

I don't mean to compare them, but Vice City spread in parts over servers in a MMORPG, mmm :drool: - never going to happen.

SO WHO WOULDN'T ENJOY THIS STYLE OF PLAY? :P

The stubby is effective, because you can cut out HALF of those misses easy.

That is also why new players leave. No other reason is greater IMO.

Now I think the old players leave because they want something more then this brainless formula of attack as well. Changing damage stats is not the solution. The solution is blue, and untill we get their, this game will still suffer from this terrible combat formula.

((I just want to add that I think the MTA team should say SCREW the current core, and work !EXCLUSIVELY! on BLUE. The current core is a lost cause\a waste of time. Just work fast, and get blue out!))

"IF" blue syncs attacks properly, the new combat formula should look a little like this--

Player shoots at target, hit,miss,hit,miss,hit,hit,hit,kill.

This formula is simular to most other online shooters. If the current MTA core is unable to perform like this, THEN YES!!! IT IS A LOST CAUSE! The declining player count is proff that the current core is going nowhere fast. IT SUCKS to play a shooting game in the way we have been for so long now.

Now if blue is unable to properly sync attacks, then it too shall suck! I shout that in hopes the message is clear to all. BLUE WILL SUCK, if it does not handle attacks in syncronim. This is currently the greatest problem in MTA today, and nobody wants to return to vomit.

I have good faith in blue however. :wink:

Exactly what im saying. There is a chance blue could fail because of syncing problems if there will be. Mostly what I think we see right now is just hype. Putting mods may be impressive but it wouldn't have the full new expeirence without the syncing. Once blue is released im just looking foward to fighting without mods. This like I said should be what old players are looking for. If blue is mostly about mods as I think, what will become of regular gameplay?

i tihnk ur forgetting what blue is all about. it hasnt been made just for the mods. its a new core. if you lookat the screenies there are great dl ul speeds, creating less lag. eai and other team members have promised 'single player' style adminations and syncing. what else is there to say?

Yeah, all everyone seems to talk about these days is the mod support. As Talidan said, bandwidth has been reduced in addition to smoother animations as shown by these video clips:

These features were meant to be in 0.4 but didn't make it. According to Kent, they've since made some other tweaks that results in them being even smoother.

Due to the substantially improved methods we employ in blue, your game will now run much smoother and faster, with vehicles and players moving almost as smoothly as you'd expect in single player.

By writing blue from the ground up we've been able to eliminate the crashes and errors that occurred with the previous core technology, by eliminating the use of the scm (Vice City's mission scripting system) entirely, we've produced a core that can be easily be fixed if errors arise. blue's new netcode is considerably more reliable and secure than the previous core and is very flexible, allowing us to reduce the bandwidth required per player.

the old blasta crew come back now and again, they say that they keep up

most are just waiting for news on the next release and overcourse blue. BLUE will rock j00r soCk§ =p

Hi,

I've checked the updates of MTA for a few years now and with every update I had one or two goes and then quit and waited for the next update. You guys are right. Everytime I have tried to play I get plagued with sliding people, bullets that NEVER hit and cheaters. That's not a game that is even functional IMHO. Now the reason I'm still here checking for updates every couple of months is I can see the potential in this Mod.

Please just get it so when I hit someone, I hit someone.

Try playin it a bit more and actually learning how to play it, its not perfect but its not as bad as you think either..

IMO its a very functional and fun game to play, its just alot more fun when your playing people from the same country on faster connections.

No the problem is that a few of you actually enjoy playing a game with these hideous problems. :lol:

THE VAST MAJORITY OF US GAMERS, do not enjoy a game where you can't hit the backside of a barn UNLESS YOU GLITCH... And that is boring IMO.

This game will never !!!NEEEEVEEEEERRRR!!!! hit a large fanbase with the unsynched shooting problem. All of my friends don't play for that same reason.

I enjoy it still, but only cause I like crashing cars around like a total jerk. :P

BLUE will hopefully fix this dire problem. Or at least bring this to a decently playable state. Right now, anyone can run past machine gun fire and stubby all day...... What is so skillfull about that? :roll:

IMHO Blue is going to scare older players away more then bring them back..... YEP! All the stubby players are gona freaking HATE blue :lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol:

we use stubby coz its the only usefull weapon (well m4 is also but not as much as stubby)......when Blue comes out i will finally use my favs weapons (that is m4 ans spas 8) ) from what i knowm no1 liked the stubby in SP VC...... well i found the presence of stubby in mta :roll::lol::?

"actually learn how to play it" - I've been playing games for 25 years including all the GTA's. What exactly do I need to learn about a game that doesn't work. Look, I know NEVER was a strong word, but what I mean is this. I load up a game, find someone, start blasting away and their health doesn't even go down. This then happens again. Then It may reverse and my friends can't kill me! How can there be a competitve element to a game when this happens.

I totally appreciate that this is a free mod and love what the devs are doing. Thats the reason I've been checking the updates for ages without comment. When I saw this thread though I thought I should comment as I am one of these types of player. Maybe MTA was released to the public too early. People hold on for so long waiting for the fundamentals to be fixed and then move on or forget to check for updates.

I would just like to know if sliding players and bullet inaccuracy will be fixed soon (These are the reasons the guys on my work LAN wouldn't play). If not, I'll give it a rest.

A lot of the problems with MTA are due to the fact that it is client-side. When you shoot someone on CS, the server notes that they've been hit without the client's intervention. With MTA, the client notifies the server that the player's been hit. This makes the game more susceptible to lag. It also makes it easier to cheat because you can prevent the packet saying that you've been hit from reaching the server. It also explains why people can pause to avoid being hit.

The problem is that they're hacking a game that's not designed for multiplayer. If it was server-side, the server would need to know a LOT more about GTA. At the moment, it basically relays packets and keeps score.

Maybe MTA was released to the public too early. People hold on for so long waiting for the fundamentals to be fixed and then move on or forget to check for updates.

It's a beta. The idea is that the public are testing it. MTA's been in development for over 2 years now, and I'm glad that they released imperfect versions rather than keeping us all waiting until the final release.
