buster
would it be possible for the server to have a specific game time so that everyone on each client has the same time up in the corner? it just gets kind of annoying because of the "mp3 player" radio station always starts with the same song Link to comment
Ransom
What you need my friend is the mp3 randomizer. Talk to me if you want it, I have it. Link to comment
orappa
In MTA 0.4 (I think it's 0.4, or else it's a later version), the team are planning to sync things like time and traffic lights, and small things like that, which'll be cool. Link to comment
orappa
weather would be cool too Yep, they're syncing that. Link to comment
Kent747
time will be synced, traffic lights??? i never heard anything about that.. Link to comment

-UtopiA-
More synced = More lag? Seems like it would be, especially syncing all those traffic lights all over the city. Link to comment
DELETED
I dont see any point in syncing the traffic lights. More lag indeed. I dont think anyone would stop at a red light.... Link to comment
vass69
but it would be great for racing.. just start when the light is green Link to comment
dystopia
i might be wrong, but i think traffic lights run by the time anyway, not randomly, so in theory if u sync the time, the traffic lights are synced as well the main thing the time sync will bring that i want is day/night it sucks during the night, when most seem to be in day lol, something about the visibilty i guess Link to comment

They're syncing the time which syncs everything else like traffic lights, radio stations (I think), etc. Link to comment
-UtopiA-
Well, I definitely think time should be synced, even if it may cause a little more lag. Link to comment
orappa
It shouldn't cause too much lag. All it really needs to do is send data containing the current time to the client only when it joins the game, and the rest will be handled locally. Link to comment
Dgtadude
well . weather would be really the easyer . cause like this . When the server starts it sets the weather . so when you join that server your computer downloads the time and it runs by it selfe . Every person that joins the server downloads this "weather timmer" and then their computer starts to count ... this could be the same thing with the time . Since once it downloaded the corrent time . It runs byt it selfe and does not need any contacting with server later in-game Link to comment
vass69
yea and u could change the server between day and night with admin Link to comment
buster
i thought everything was done according to time. ex: it will rain at a certain time each day, or the traffic lights change at the same time. if this is true then the server can just send the time in some sort of packet or something to the client and the client just changes the time. then there will be no lag Link to comment
Dgtadude
i thought everything was done according to time. ex: it will rain at a certain time each day, or the traffic lights change at the same time. if this is true then the server can just send the time in some sort of packet or something to the client and the client just changes the time. then there will be no lag Hum , yeah thats what i tried to explain . But your explains better Link to comment
Kent747
the idea is that we can sync the time, and weather will invariably be synced as well... About the traffic lights, The change pretty quickly, so Im not sure how well synced those will be, we'll have to see Kent Link to comment
Dgtadude
Kent . isnt the trafic lights timed? and i thouhg the wedder was too ... as in you start a naew game . it will always be same like at 4pm there's fog and at 5theres rain ... i know saving games chnage this ... but mta basicly starts a anew game and you always start at daylight . so maybe it could be timmed . and everyone in the server will be at the same clock time . so lights and weather will be the same too ** i think ** Link to comment
Si|ent
Yes thats the idea, initial tests show that a lot of ingame stuff runs strictly by the clock and setting everyone on the same time should 'sync' them all. What remains to be seen is if the weather is regional or universal, i.e. if Player1 is north of island one will he have the same weather as Player2 south of island two, or will it only be the same if you are in the same place at the same time Will make for some interesting new play tactics if weather does sync. Dgtadude
i'm no specialist person but i *belive* its universial "just by common sence" cause why would rock* make it regional when theirs only one player on the game ... but again i was seeing that if you race down the street on a rainy day . it will stop the rain , start again , fog , then rain back again . But it would be Asweme to have the weather sync . having clan fights in the rain . and everyone was in the rain . not just you ... Link to comment
