MTA Team jhxp Posted December 25, 2010 MTA Team Share Posted December 25, 2010 Multi Theft Auto: San Andreas is one of the top 5 mods of 2010! We are very happy to announce that ModDB has placed our mod on 4th place in this year's Mod of the Year 2010 Players Choice - Mod of the Year list. We didn't expect such a good spot on the list, so that is definitely a nice Christmas present for us and the whole MTA community. Thank you for your continued support. In other news, our concurrent unique player count record is now 3,320 players, counted on Friday, 17th of December, at 17:30 GMT. Considering that we could barely reach 1,500 players same time last year, we are pleased with the increase of MTA enthusiasts. Our developers were working hard since the last update. ryden has improved the maximum player slots limit per server in MTASA 1.1, which is now set to 65535! If you actually fill such a server completely with real players, you deserve a medal. Gamesnert has introduced some new scripting functions in 1.1, which give you more control over weather conditions in the game. He also made a bunch of fixes for other scripting functions and fixed a crash related with Seasparrow and Skimmer vehicles. ccw and x86 were not slacking around either - they made quite a bunch of changes, such as ccw's improvements to the linux server and code backports to 1.0.x series from 1.1, or x86's UI bugfixes. There was also one really cool thing which was added by one of our contributors. Kayl712 has added easing feature to 1.1, which can be applied to game objects and GUI elements movement to smoothen it. See the attached video for examples of use in action. Last but not least, we would like to wish you all the good things on these Holidays and in the upcoming next year! Link to comment

SilverSink
Awesome! Merry Christmas to all of you! EDIT: 65535 players is definately too much.. I think it's gonna be unstable. Link to comment

dzek (varez)
65535 players is definately too much.. I think it's gonna be unstable. It will be stable, until you will try to fill it. If your machine can't handle it - just set it to 100 or something. But its not easy to get that player count. Don't worry about it - it won't hurt you. Link to comment
GodFather
It would be cool that the MTA team run a beta test for player slots, that we achive ~1000 players online on one server. That would be epic!! Link to comment

That would be epic!! The MTA team should run such test to find the weak points of MTA and make it support even more than 1000 concurrent players. Link to comment

DiSaMe
65535 players? That's cool! Now SA-MP has nothing what's impossible in MTA. By the way, is that limit affected by elements limit, which is 65536? If there are 1000 elements on the server, will it be possible for 65535 players to join, or will only 64536 be able to do so? DiSaMe
And if limit of elements was increased (no, not a request, just a question ), would that also increase limit of players? Link to comment
izstas
And if limit of elements was increased (no, not a request, just a question ), would that also increase limit of players? Do you really need 4294967295 players limit ? Link to comment
ryden
And if limit of elements was increased (no, not a request, just a question ), would that also increase limit of players? Why would the element limit be increased? Anyway, the answer is: no. Raising the player limit to 65535 was done because with the previous network code MTA couldn't support any player count bigger than 255. With these changes, you can set a new limit ranging from 1 to 65535. It doesn't mean that the player limit will be 65535 anytime. So, even if you raise the element limit, the network code that syncs the player counts will stay the same, keeping it to the current "limit". Link to comment

zerb
Fantastic achievement. I remember all the criticism that was thrown at the developers for the delaying of the SA release back in the day, so for the team to be recognised for their efforts and dedication is always appreciated. The community is constantly growing each day and long may it continue. Link to comment
Xierra
Hey! Without a doubt I'm good to stay here instead. Congrats MTA SA! Top 5 is very hard to achieve, but you guys made it. Keep going MTA SA! 1.1 is coming soon. Link to comment
