Guest
Last night I was playing TrackmaniaNations.(a cool online racing game based upon building your own maps) and I was wandering if you guys could add cinematics to the map editor, so you can make an intro for your map. Like showing the game's objectives or a nice overview of the map with camera movement. Maps would be more like pieces of art. LOL, this is mostly because I like to create pieces of art Link to comment
Leviathan
It's usefull some maps get an introduction so you might get an idea of what's the objective and the meaning of the map. but alltough cinematic intro's are cool, they probably will be too long, and I dont think all players like waiting. maybe a "skip cinematic" vote button or something. Talco
nice feature, but too much time for make in my opinion Link to comment
Leviathan
Making it has'nt to be that hard, ever played Age of Mythology/Empires III? you can just set some waypoints there, and the screen follows them. so well, making some object in MTA map editor, wich isn't solid and visible ingame, but the camera follows these points, like the map editor does when you use the go to object function. CoZ
they probably will be too long it might actually give players without a high-end gaming compu a moment to load the map ..... or even for those with a high end gaming compu 5 sec is a bit low for that sometimes Link to comment

Si|ent
There is a point. If all skip it it is skipped and the race is free to start. I have to say I like this idea a lot and it would be (relatively) simple to incorperate I think. Bear in mind that the team may well be approaching a feature freeze though (where all coders agree to add nothing new and concentrate instead on tweaking and fine tuning what is in already) but even if so this would make a very nice addition in a future version Link to comment

Isn't that called tweening? It would be cool to have that. Maybe it could be the background screen while reading the map objectives or choosing characters. Link to comment

Omg can you imagen:It's will gona take time to download a background and then download full map.So i think its not needed cuz loading of the map taking somwhere 3sec(spec progr) Link to comment
Leviathan
maybe a "skip cinematic" vote button or something. skip cinematic? I was talking about a skip cinematic vote, so X% of the votes has to be reached to skip, wich ofcourse, can be set serverside.and about the background screen MrLaggs was taling about... I think he doesn't mean an image, but just the cinematic as background decoration in the choose character menu. Link to comment

Like a level preview or a cinematic intro while your chooseing your character. Would be something nice. Link to comment
CoZ
LAWL what loading? yeh .. right .. as if the map doenst need loading on your pc when your at starting line ? Link to comment
eAi
A vote wouldn't work. The point of a cinematic is to show how to play the map (for example). If the majority of players know the map (which is likely) and a new person joins (who would find the cinematic useful), they'll be annoyed when the majority (who know the map) cancel the cinematic... Lággy
My Idea The intro cinematic should be only a background screen while choosing characters or looking at the map. The server browser could have this map viewing option for those who want to know the map before joining to the server. Link to comment
