MatthewMc Posted February 15, 2006 Posted February 15, 2006 There are those of you whose laziness is beyond belief. Apply this patch to solve your dual-core issues.AMD Athlon™ 64 X2 Dual Core Processor Driver for Windows XP and Windows Server 2003 Version (exe) 1.2.2.2, find it at this internet location. well, that could be why i have not notice any in game problems with my AMD 64 X2... already installed. btw good find.
slick Posted February 16, 2006 Posted February 16, 2006 "this software requires service pack 2 to install , installation will now abort"sp2 sucks sp2 sucks? Yeah, I guess more security must suck.
Gamefreek Posted February 16, 2006 Posted February 16, 2006 Too bad i cant install it...says im missing some important files even though its a legit xp install.

Devilogic Posted February 21, 2006 Posted February 21, 2006 If setting the thread's (threads' ?) processor affinity is really the solution, then why doesn't MTA set that itself? To my knowledge it's just a single Windows API call per thread. Though it might degrade overall game performance on high-end systems, you still have to ensure equal racing conditions for all players! And, just to satisfy my curiosity: what's the problem actually? Is it the imprecise (performance?) timer on dual-cores, or something else? Anyway, I hope this gets fixed soon.
Si|ent Posted February 21, 2006 Posted February 21, 2006 If setting the thread's (threads' ?) processor affinity is really the solution, then why doesn't MTA set that itself? Because the problem only came to light after release.

Guest Posted February 21, 2006 Posted February 21, 2006 I'm not absolutely certain but I believe the bug was in Windows, and had to do with dynamic processor speed scaling for dual core AMD chips. But I could just be talking out of my ass.

orappa Posted February 21, 2006 Posted February 21, 2006 People kept saying that MTA was running at low priority, but it runs at normal priority for me. Setting it too high can cause problems though, as the game could respond before input drivers do, so you'd get keyboard and mouse lag.
