You're going to need to work on your definitions, buddy. You're going to confuse alot of ppl. 1st island >> okay, you got one right 2nd Island >> What you called the third. Starfish >> The island the mansion is on Prawn >> Movie studio and robber spawn Then there's the golf course: Leaf Links And I can vouch for the bugged-up Sabre Turbo. It falls out of sync sometimes, and sometimes even shows up as a lowriding yellow Rancher. The Yellow Rancher has bugs of its own, too. When it blows up, the carcass doesn't disappear like it does with other vehicles. it's not uncommon to see a pile of charred rancher skeletons at its spawn.

Legally, yes, you would need to purchase to a copy of Vice City for each computer it is installed on. But really, it doesn't matter. The game itself doesn't know the difference.

I said to keep 5 OR 7, whichever one points to the host machine.

I could easily turn this thread into something insulting... ...But I won't.

Why do I have to reset and specify the path of Vice city?

I guess this could come in handy more often than anticipated http://outback.gamehorizons.net/MAROON.gif (Maroon...Moron...ha ha?) -
I'm just sayin...if it was movin, it wasn't me doing it.

Line #5 OR #7 is the ONLY one you need to keep. UDP Protocol Port 2003 Public AND Private Set the IP to the SERVER computer. You may want to set the server computer's IP manually if you're going to be running a server. Using DHCP may cause the computer's IP to change.

Uh, I wasn't even in the game at that point. I quit after you guys started whining about spying. And to top it off, I was a passenger in someone's car most of that time.

What do you people not get about stereotyping? Quit it already! DSL and Cable systems are not the exact same thing everwhere! Stop coming in here and stating what you have like it's a universal standard! PS. I'm just over 3 miles from CO and getting full rated speed. So uh, all you ppl bitchin about how DSL can't reach far...eat your heart out. But the system here is pretty much new, so meh.

We got a great promo deal. Equipment (modem, cables, and 3 filters) and first month are free, next 2 are $29.99/month (US, of course), and then it goes up to regular price of $34.99. And even then it's STILL cheaper than a second phone line + decent 56K service. Cable modem here is (no joke) $57.99/month if you dont have basic cable (which we don't and it's no less than $40 if you do, so DSL is cheaper either way). And, like I said, the speeds suck. But that's what happens when you only have one cable company in the area.

1. Windows XP pro 2. Yes. Linksys "Network Everywhere" NR041 (Identical in all respects to BEFSR41 but in a different casing) 3. C:\Program Files\Rockstar Games\Grand Theft Auto Vice City 4. C:\Program Files\Rockstar Games\MTA-VC 5. Not yet. 6. No, but I'm sure the files got overwriten. 7. 1.1 8. Every time so far 9 Yes.

I have 1.5Meg/128K Verizon ADSL, and it beats the shiot out of the cable internet here, which supposedly has the same download rate. Their upload is 256k, but the download is totally erratic, and rarely, if ever, reaches full rated speeds. Also note that many Cable companies, when they say "X times faster than DSL", watch the fine print...it will be some shoddy speed they're quoting (384K in the ads here). ADSL is usually cheaper (cheaper than a second phone like + Dial-Up ISP, in most cases), and the providers are also pretty honest about the speeds. The best deals will most likely be found from your local telephone company. And there are also alot of promos for new areas of service. First month free, free equipment, that sort of thing.

Being someone who has just recently moved from 56K to Broadband (1.5meg/128k DSL, if you must know), I can safely say that, all other things being equal and in sync (if still delayed), it's the person on 56K that has the inherent advantage. And I don't think it's so much packet loss that gives them the advantage as the time it takes for the 56K'er to recieve the packets. If you're shooting someone, then (at least on your screen), they won't shoot back. Many times, the person at the other end is experiencing the very same thing. All other things being equal, it's usually the first person to run out of ammo that gets killed. Even on DSL, I still get all the MTA-related loss-of-sync issues I used to. But the latency is definitely reduced.

We should also be able to vote people off the team. For instance, if you want a clanmate to join your team instead of Joe KeepsDying.

PCI? *shakes head disapprovingly*

I have to laugh my ass off when the heli animation isnt working and the pilot is trying to kill me. I just run out and shoot em down.

Bingo. I suggest you check through and make sure you're not trying to forward the same port twice. Make sure they're set for ingoing and outgoing UDP traffic, and if they're even enabled.

Splitscreen gaming on the PC isn't even worth it. it's easy enough to drag an extra computer or three together and set up a LAN.

It's already been explained that changing the client now to support Win98/ME is more hassle than it's worth.

I don't hear the flames anymore when cars are on fire. Am I the only one having this problem? Oh, and thanks to the MTA guys for making F10 enable itself. Either that or I've started to hit the button involuntarily.

There are plenty of ways to get warped to Little Havana. I just happened to be standing there the other day when another player fell from the sky.

What's with the jump to #5? Vice City was still considered GTA3... -
The Purple track at the airport would make a good F1-style road course.

You want money? Run over a parking meter...

Yes yes I know. But you could just hit Esc instead of Alt+Tab...
