MTA Mod Pack - brainstorm thread
Slothman replied to WhiteRabbit's topic in General MTA Discussion - MTA 0.1/0.2 Alpha
my mod picks: stuntpark, easier dodo flying, lots of custom skins (i smell a contest for pack inclusion), and is there a mod to open up the stadium? -
asked and answered, but if you must know, if you edit any car physics, then the game won't sync up with other people, and it will behave funny. if you alter the map, unless everyone else has the same changes, then while you can drive on that surface, but everyone else can't. and it would apear to them like you were floating. if you alter the main.scm stuff.......well im not sure, but i'm thinking it would crash.

so the key to not being modded is to write very long posts?

MTA Mod Pack - brainstorm thread
Slothman replied to WhiteRabbit's topic in General MTA Discussion - MTA 0.1/0.2 Alpha
heres a question; if player 1 has a custom, skin, and player 2 doesn't, will it default back to the original skin on player 2s game, or will player 1 be invisible, or will it all come crashing down? -
i have a great idea for a clip in the next movie: 2 people are racing don the subways, neck in neck, then they see a train coming right at them, so player 1 puts the peddle to the metal and pulls ahead of player2, narrowly missing a brutal collision with the train. i think that captures the spirit of multiplayer gta pretty well, and it would impress people seeing the mod for the first timne (which a lot of people are right now, thanks to slashdot)

youre using a translator, it's "www.slashdot.org" probably the most visited site on the net

and let the slashdotting begin!!

gta3 ps2 online... (theory)
Slothman replied to Mr.Bill's topic in General MTA Discussion - MTA 0.1/0.2 Alpha
us kiddies? I still own a commodore 64 (with cassette drive), nes, and a 2600 jr. the real fans actually own the systems, not just the emulators -
Multi Theft Auto: Vice City
Slothman replied to RipTide's topic in Mod Suggestions - MTA 0.1/0.2 Alpha
hey, i like psx, but it's definiteely no pc. it seems consoles are getting to be more computer-like every day (harddrives, online capability, cdroms, keyboard, heck even the snes had a mouse!)... the point is: why go with an imitator, when you can have the real thing -

what?!? no nes emulator on your system? there should be a law against that -
When it is done
Slothman replied to Blokker_1999's topic in General MTA Discussion - MTA 0.1/0.2 Alpha
i beg to differ, but it's "ARGGGGHHHH" (pronounced like the letter "R") - thank you very much -
why not make mta open source ?
Slothman replied to a topic in General MTA Discussion - MTA 0.1/0.2 Alpha
open source is a good idea, after it's done. releasing it now would make it so every coder out there would release their own version, all incompatable with the rest, killing any hope for a community. on the other hand, yeahi bet there are a lot of people who can bring their skills to the table and help perfect mta. maybe a limite release where the rewritten code would have to be submitted to a standards team (mta team) and not released as a seperate mod. that would be hard to regulate though. i think the best way to do it would be to just release the source when mta is finished coding for it and have moved on to their promising careers. -

Slothman replied to Mr.Bill's topic in General MTA Discussion - MTA 0.1/0.2 Alpha
looks like my post struck a brain nerve, eh mr. bill? sounds unlikely cause the multiplayer code was made after the ps2 version (right?) -
ah the joys of owning the pc version......mods, skins, mp3s, and MULTIPLAYER.....hahaha, take that consoles! once a console game is released, thats all she wrote. (yeah i know, xbox live, but that doesn't count, as xbox live is only for loudmouthed 14 year olds who cant figure out these "computer thingys") Added by Mr.Bill: Hey isn't ps2 online now? you could edit the game or change the edited on a disk drive and use gameshark to make it use that program instead of the actual Game stuff.. I think ill make a thread of this...
-
i hope it is released now...........imean....................NOW. ok..........................................NOW! DAMMIT, i guess i can wait.

seems to have problems with periods in the name. get a seperate account for mailinglists. also seeings as you posted your address on a web page, doesn't that mean a spider can come along, pick it up, and plop it down in it's web of spam address lists?

yeah, the whole thing smells fishy to me....pc gamer makes a suggestion of a gta game in vegas, then this site pops up very unproffessional looking. most proffesional game developers keep their game hush hush untill they have more to show you. PC gamer had a good idea, i just hope it wasn't grabbed up by amateurs before a real developer can make it.

I would like to make a trailor for you guys...
Slothman replied to a topic in General MTA Discussion - MTA 0.1/0.2 Alpha
make it a spoof of the new matrix trailer, and i'd watch it -
sounds good, but is it possible?
-
if ya read the news, they hint at a "non-penguin-like" walking (ggm has funny south-park walking) hey, does that mean the cars will look like they are moving too? (instead of parked and just teleporting around)
-
that seems to be the best way to go with the radar, then it'll still be possible for us to sneak up and put a bat to the back of someones head. although, in capture the flag-type gameplay, radar would detract from the gameplay heavily. is it possible to have different radar styles for different gametypes? and i know it's been brought up, the ide of those giant blue arrows bouncing over players head, i don't think that would fly very well. maybe if the player is sporting a bazooka, then something like that would be acceptable
-
yeah, unless one of the devs tells us. but then we would just tell him to stop browsing the forum and get to work., (not that i'm complaining about any release date, so no one jump down my throat)
