  1. More options in the server config is a great idea, as long as they are set to something sensible as a default!
  2. After a little poking around I noticed that the Bank iterior loads up correctly. Perhaps a gang that prefer the bank robber skin and weapons would consider that as thier HQ? Oh, LOL about the VCXS deal. You should've put it all in capitals, I'll have a job sorting that out, have to patch it up from the clean source image methinks. (EDIT) Image updated - I found that, in my infinite wisdom, I'd actually left a healthy gap after the "VCX" part in case you wanted to add the S!
  3. I played TRX (MTA:VC lead coder) and he agrees that it makes street racing a whole lot easier to set up. There's no need to try and code in some sort of route-choosing procedure, no need to spend hours working out checkpoint co-ordinates and no need for any code at all, really. If anything, you could remove a whole load of code - such as the career mode, all the weapon pickups and so forth. Street racing is the way forward! No worrying about bullets getting lost, just thrashing an exotic car around the roads and sidewalks of a californian metropolis - and doing it faster than the other guy.
  4. AHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! SPAM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! lol srry i couldnt resist but ya this thread does need to be updated. ok ok ill ask my real question, why did u pick the drug place? because it is a place which isn't occupied although VCS's name suits it Very good call there, it's a class position which many people find difficult to find let alone attack! The long narrow entry road and the gantries and alcoves inside the building make it a good strategic place to defend. Also, you could use a helicopter to get onto the roof into a postion like the sniper uses in the mission that takes place in that area. I take it your gang is "VCX" and you were just using the "s" as a belonging clause, right? That's how I've updated the image, anyway.
  5. GTAForums.com is where I am a moderator and where our Work In Progress thread is. Register yourself there and have a poke around the "Editing Discussion > Maps" and the "Modification Showroom > Maps" areas if you want to get into modifying Vice stuff. If you can learn the mechanical aspect to getting models into the game then I'd be very interested in getting you onto the team! Easiest way to contact me is via Windows Messager: [email protected] Sorry, but my French isn't very good. I went to the forum and got your messanger address, hope I've added the right person!
  6. The radar textures are stored in the GTA3.IMG file which does get checked IIRC. I'd certainly NOT recommend you use it with MTA:VC 0.2. However, I just got confirmation from IJSVogel that they will be using this idea in the street racer mode they are making for the next MTA:VC. I am trying to get more direct contact with the team (maybe even become part of it) so that I could give them the radar mod to use with it, as well as represent the desires of the rest of the street racer groups. Exciting times!
  7. Opuis continues to work on getting it in-game. I havn't worked out just how long the track is...it's about 2 km across the "~" motorway section. Gotta be another 3 down to the junction at the village. Probably another 1 to get to the gorge and 1 more to get back to the motorway. So I estimate it as being 7 kilometers long! That's a lot of stuff for Opius to be optimising the COL for! Additionally, there's the curved pit garages and wall which would be a complete nightmare to texture I imagine. That's gotta be more than a kilometre long and have over 50 garage stalls. Then the fiddly intersections...really is a whole mountain of shit he's gotta sort out!
  8. Good question. The answer is, if an enemy gang has the balls to try and take a vehicle in your turf then try and kill them! If they get it, it's thiers, if you kill them, you keep it. Until the next time... I'm aiming this more at public servers for when a few members of a clan might happen to meet up on a server and therefore have a HQ to group up and hold out at. SSR have been practising at our HQ, it's actually not as well defended as I hoped. A helicopter really can be worth a lot to attackers as they can land on nearby rooves and have a couple of people with long-range weapons covering the attackers on the ground...complicated issue.
  9. Phils place it is then, city scrap remains free for some other gang. I've updated the image for you. Cheers to those who are supporting this! Oh, VCPDeathB, rather than spamming this little place to shiznit, head over to GTAForums.com and play in the Pit area. Or you could could just read all the modding topics that are there.
  10. There will easily be more great places than there will be gangs on this forum.
  11. Ya, but you don't know who those blips are, and the blips are also yellow when you just join. By the time you get close to one you can see thier name and everyone is entering and exiting vehicles to get weapons or kill each other that they don't stay yellow for long..
  12. What a wonderfully polite request! Would you consider taking the scrap yard instead, though? It's bigger, has a health powerup and some high towers to take out attackers from...
  13. There's only about 5 colours, not that hard to keep track of them!
  14. *sigh* Guess it's gonna be a triple-post. Keep forgetting that this board doesn't have as many members as GTAForums. I've now refined the radar maps so that all the routes are totally complete and there are no artefacts left. You can download the radar textures here, it's a 70kb download and instructions are included. I recently found that there was a street racing code project going on in the MTA:VC camp. I hope this won't detract from the far more enjoyable pasttime of racing set routes, where consistancy to put in fast time lap after lap makes it far more challenging than any point-to-point event. I'm hopeing this radar mod will be used with the upcoming street racer mode, check page 2 of the SSR Recruitment thread in gang chat for an unofficial video that they leaked out to us.
  15. Gees, if the staff here actually did anything I'd report "HSA" and "Iggy248" for spamming. What's f*cked about having the gang HQ's for every gang listed incontrovertibly? Seems like a fantastically useful method to end possible arguments to me.
  16. The colours of the radar blips indicate what everyone spawned as.
  17. Icecream factory is yours, image updated. I figured this would be a good idea because then you can point newbies to this topic to explain why they can't use your base as thier base in team games. "Me," rather than adding to your spamtastic post count, how's about reading the first post? (Yes I did feel like bitching.)
  18. I feel it's justified to double-post as serveral hours have passed and I've got an update for everyone now. I hope the MTA:VC team will start to realise that there are a lot of people who really do want this game mode and are prepared to contribute like this to get it. I don't see the Deathmatch people GIVING you anything, all they do is PESTER FOR MORE!
  19. This problem happened to me one day, totally out of the blue. I just uninstalled MTAVC and then reinstalled it again and that (unsurprisingly) fixed the problem.
  20. Sensible people just use a text file.
  21. Excellent, I've done the new radar now. Just going to be testing it and making sure theres no problems or excessivly messy parts, then I'll release it. Cheers for your help Trows.
  22. Having a ping 0f over 200 of EVERYONE means that you'll appear to be warping around them, none of thier bullets will register. Goddam lag-profiteering, so lame.
  23. Problems with that, because you are covering a pair of spawn points. Aside from that, it's just seriously fucking greedy! There's is a fantastic boathouse just in the south-east of the airport. It's got multiple levels and just two very small entrances. When boats are supported in a future version there will almost without doubt be on in there. Its on the road that leads to nowhere, opposite the PCJ 600. Know where I mean?
  24. One moderator popped in and seemed to approve, so I expect it'll happen without me prodding them. There's way too many pinned topics already. They need to be thinned out and I wouldn't really want to add to the mess that's there. Things like the "50 post rule no longer applies" don't need to be up any more, no-one can even remember them existing now, lol! (EDIT) Alex3305 - is your gang a police gang? I'll check back tomorrow and will update the image if it is.
  25. You could claim that they are government offices, or the offices for various vice city authorities. It's yours, the image has been updated. You've got a neat landing pad for airlifting people in, it's also very exposed for attackers so using the nearby VCPD helicopter could prove a distinct tactical advantage. You cops don't get many rounds of ammo though and you don't get and molotovs or grenades - they are what you will be weak to. The cop shotguns will be able to take down the people using the lift...is the window too high up to crash a helicopter through?
