  1. You could do that now, place some buildings in the middle of the sea with the roofs sticking out.
  2. What cars? I have no idea what you mean. The video is equally confusing and seemingly pointless.
  3. That's a reasonable point, the worst offenders (which spurr this whole debate) would use those 30 accounts up in the space of one session. The problem is the casual or first time player, it would be a real pain to have to go through a registration process on top of downloading, installing and potentially troubleshooting the mod. Much better to have 'instant action'. There's also a suspicion factor when something demands you register before you can use it. With most things I'll find an alternative if it's compulsory, as I suspect would many other people.
  4. Nice idea, I can picture some pretty exciting 'race the rising water level' maps.
  5. (In my opinion) Everything that has any kind of presense, or wants some kind of presense has a theme tune, Bob the builder would be NOTHING without it's theme for example. So I guess this thread goes two ways, Either suggest a current track that you think would be ideal - e.g. David Essex: Silver dream racer, or Create something fresh and new for the guys to consider!
  6. Actually it takes practically no skill, it autoaims and has a massive rate of fire and therefore rate of damage. Free aim is a lot harder to get on target, especially if the vehicle is moving. Free aim is far far less powerful than sideways driveby, its innacurate and very slow firing so isn't any kind of ultimate weapon by any stretch of the imagination. All these and more are why Free aim for drivers is ALREADY IN! My question is does that stretch to the heli's too?
  7. That's an interesting point, have the free-aim drivebys been enabled for helicopters too? Would make piloting slightly trickyer but thats no bad thing with the pathetic handling they gave them in SA. (Don't bump threads kids! even though I just bumped this one a bit)
  8. If it isn't applied to the peds, (bodies), it isn't ragdoll physics, is it
  9. You should note that it is only Grand Theft Auto San Andreas that has mod-blocking in its updated version. Both GTA3 and Vice City work fine with modifications wether they are updated or not. This is the MTA0.5 section, which is for GTA3 and Vice City, so I'm not sure if you are confusing the issue or simply posting in the wrong area.
  10. I remember Cray speculating about the fun we would have with the sa tractors and trailers the night we got our hands on some of the PS2 versions files and viewed the first few screenshots. It was pretty dissapointing that it wasn't as easy as hoped, so this is great news.
  11. I'm presuming that if you share the rental you can use it for whatever you like, providing you dont break the law of course. As he said you could run a few servers on there and not dent the bandwidth.
  12. Thatd make a nice FTP and eggdrop shell
  13. I think everyone is looking back through rose coloured glasses. The only time there has ever been a large amount of respect shown is in certain organised, private matches, but even most of them were a flame and argument fest. Arguments that usually spilled over onto the forums and beyond. Perhaps some of you got absorbed by large groups of players, gangs like KFC etc that became thier own community within a community. Then of course you were playing with peers and when more than a game is shared, respect for each other often follows (with some notable exceptions), if so then i guess it is THOSE times you miss, rather than the far more common and general 'playing on a public server'. The taste of which hasnt changed much at all since 0.2 introduced a chat that kept msgs displayed for longer than 1 second. Frankly I welcome the growing maturity and respect shown by the community in sa:race and on these forums (again, with one or two exceptions, but every village has to have an idiot). Perhaps the relative lack of death and direct combat makes the difference? other mods that have guns are seeing the same immature flame fests explode onto thier servers and forums that we did a version or two ago.

    GTA IV

Not when its on the same machine, it just requires two controllers (yes, I think perhaps I AM thinking of S.A, havn't played the console version of any gta. PC ftw!)

    GTA IV

There wont be mta-like multiplayer in GTA4. But for a future version when there IS: Just think how much easier that will make the teams work, no more having to create all the multiplayer aspects, they will just be able to concentrate on taking what is there and making it better/more usable/more customisable

    GTA IV

I thought it was two player, I've not played it, its local tho right? Which is the point. No netcode involved, which is what I meant.

    GTA IV

It won't. At least not 'proper' online multiplayer. You may see some two-player co-op action as seen in GTA:LCS though.

    GTA IV

Stranger things have happened. The guy who bedroom-coded the old half life and counterstrike bot PodBot ended up being employed by valve to work on the A.I. in cs:cz and beyond, for example.
  19. Millions of people worldwide. You can take comfort in your superiority complex whilst they all have fun on them though so it's all good.
  20. I wonder if Cerbera is still waiting? lol I love how you read his wording and think 'Wow, these skins must be great', then you look at them and think 'Errm, surely some mistake, is this a joke? lol' Anyway, Please note guys that Contact the Moderators ISNT for game problems or server issues, it is for Forum related enquiries and complaints ONLY.
  21. It used to be, before there was a release. Now MTASA is in players hands I think it was felt its own section was required (As all versions have had in the past) to keep together help, discussion and media areas for it. Whereas the blue section is regarding just that (or should be) discussions about the core that will be used for future versions, be they for GTA3, Vice City, SA or GTA4 - although perhaps now MTASA has its own section the Blue section could do with a rename accordingly. Perhaps just 'The Blue platform' or similar?
  22. Same for any game, hopefully cheat definitions will be updated regularly this time which will go a long way to easing the situation. I hardly think popular is the correct term in this case. Being able to switch something off and then on again doesn;t make someone 'smart'. Quite the opposite if it is done to avoid a ban. I'd not want to go to a party where I clearly wasn't welcome/wanted. Not if there were hundreds of other public parties on the same street. Actually we didnt, Aeron developed it with much consultation with myself as an addon, an extra, initially it was a way to interact with the game via mIRC but many features I suggested and discussed with him got added (very quickly too, hes an extremely fast and skilled coder when he is motivated) such as multiserver support, game scripting etc. It was never integrated into MTA itself, and I'm pretty sure it will still be available for any new versions. But why would you script using the relatively slow, limited and clunky IRC scripting when you can use c++? I sort-of agree with you here, allowing a player to alt-tab whilst still keeping his game 'active', allowing him to die and be jacked etc, would be a better solution as there are many legitimate reasons to pop back to desktop for a minute. Admin control not the least of them. QA isnt all fun and games (though a lot of it is obviously) there is a lot of bug chasing and documenting, a lot of grind. But I'm sure we all would like it finished as soon as possible. Just be patient, it will be worth it.
  23. hehe, you'd need to scan a lot more than that to prevent a whole host of cheats. Unfortunately.
  24. Unfortunately scannign all the files required would cause massive delays as the cpu is diverted to do so.
