I've wondered about the same, and after a bit of thought, I've come up with the following things: As Mr.Hankey mentioned, the name "San Andreas MultiPlayer" is a very obvious, but still quite clever choice of name, since it's exactly what most people will want to google. SA-MP is the #1 hit, while MTA is a bit further down the list. SA-MP was released a lot earlier and MTA:SA has had few releases and a long time between them. Even though MTA has better sync and TONS more features, scripting functions etc., an early start proved very useful here. The SA-MP community is rather hostile towards MTA (and to a degree the same is true here, but nowhere near as extremely), and its staff and management even more so. Its moderators patrol the forum like 24/7 so they can make sure to delete any post or topic that mentions MTA in a favorable light and ban whoever posted it, usually on a one-strike basis. Most of the SA-MP players are very ignorant when it comes to MTA and are often/usually very poorly informed: some don't know about its existence at all, some think it's still only Race, some aren't even interested in trying, some find ridiculous excuses not to try it. Player counts. While this seems odd at first glance, if you take a look at it, you'll see that it's kind of an "evil circle" - people don't switch from SA-MP to MTA for a lot of (usually bad) reasons, but probably the most important is that people are used to having hundreds of players in a server, and don't want to switch to a mod with less players and less servers. No "converts" means no reason for others to convert, so it's kind of deadlocked until MTA gets more players. There is also a rather poor selection of servers these days - few original scripts, few players, most of the servers are just running the same crappy no-aim freeroam modes. I don't even play much at all recently, because I like DM, freeroam gets incredibly boring, and I've never seen the point of RP. The two only "proper" DM servers I know of are now deserted (FMJ's) or shut down.

Not really, no. You can set the shape's position at a time interval to "simulate attachment", but nothing more than that, as far as I know.

When my server was up, we had an English only rule and I tried to make sure it was enforced whenever I could - but of course, people don't give a rat's ass about rules in general, and it appears that the average MTA player has a pretty tenuous grip on his English anyway, if he knows anything at all. (And yes, I have seen players who appear not to.) This is a pity, of course, because it hurts communication and makes everything a hell of a lot harder than it could be, both for players and administrators. I thought they usually taught English in schools, and stuff, until I started playing MTA, let alone when I introduced that English-only rule on my server.

No way, no need. The Community server is down, and community doesn't really affect gameplay or individual server accounts a lot anyways. Why would you want this?

MTA doesn't support warez. I don't support people who openly support a shitty mod and only intend to use maps from MTA with that.

You know, something like this would add a massive load of files to download on a download system that's already slow and prone to fuck up, I'm not sure it's a good idea at all. Also, you can't distribute copyrighted songs with your server, that's illegal. Other than that, I'm sure it's a nice script..

The arguments and source are the only difference as far as I know.

Valhalla is notoriously laggy, and there's not much you can to about it, as far as I know. Try setting down your graphics quality, view distance, etc., or just try another server.

No. This is not a free drive-thru where you can order (people to make) free scripts, that is not the way it works. You can NOT come in here, command an entire forum to make a script for you for free. If you want the script, you have three options: 1) See if it's done already 2) Pay someone to make it for you 3) Make it yourself. If you don't know how, learn. Glad you got it working, but is the triple posting and bumping really necessary? The thing about letting it stay until Game-slow-monitor finally picks it up is mentioned in at least five other topics just like this one.

Well, no, actually, it's time to let the developers do what they're doing: make MTA better, little by little. The thought of having them abandon all the bugs, issues and features in order to make snow maps is, mildly speaking, a ludicrous idea. And the reason you haven't seen any christmas mods in the server list yet -might- be because there's still more than a month left until christmas.. Or maybe people aren't bothering. As I said, limited use, limited fun, limited time, but still a relatively huge amount of work.

Then that server apparently isn't there anymore. It may have closed, changed name or just gone down temporarily. There's not much we can do about it here, you need to take these kinds of things up with the server owner.

My last one was actually pretty useful, I thought, but if you want to take the snarky, pissy, passive-aggressive tone, that's fine with me.

Apparently they probably will at some point, but when that is is impossible to say, and it doesn't have a high priority.

There has been such a script created, (by Simbad De Zeeman, I think,) but it's lots of work for virtually no reason, it's one day or one week per year. Also, if you expect everyone to release everything they create, you're going to be disappointed.

The moderating here is kind of.. well, awful. (No offense to existing moderators..) There's been a viagra ad around for 6 hours, and it doesn't appear that there are any more than a very few people acting as moderators here, and they don't pop in any too often. Are you sure you don't want to think about "hiring" a couple more people? If you're interested, I can help out a bit.
