The whole voting and related issues are somthing that we intend to look at closely for future releases, and we'd certainly like the community's input on what they think the best way to go is. Vote spamming is somthing we saw as a potential issue during QA, but we didn't really have the time to look at alternatives. Somthing I've personally believed should happen is that votes are for voting for the next race rather than an instant race change. As you say, you could add a time limit (defined by the map creator or server owner?) that would end "free roam" maps after a certain ammount of time, handling normal races is harder in this case though, how do you stop one player hanging back or going and hiding and the race never ending? I expect the person who created the map could be made to define a time limit for it... Anyway, we welcome input on this matter...

Some people have reported this issue, we're not sure what causes it but it can be fixed by downloading this file and extracting it your your MTA folder within your gta install directory (usually c:\program files\rockstar games\gta san andreas\mta).

We've just released the Multi Theft Auto: San Andreas server. Builds are available for Linux and Windows. The server will not allow you to play Multi Theft Auto: San Andreas As is usual with these kinds of releases, we release the server some time before the client (the program you play with) so that server providers can download and configure their server as they desire. Note for server admins: Anti-cheat is currently disabled in servers, we will enable it when we release the client. To enable anti-cheat after we release, just restart your server. Pedestrians have been discussed over and over again, search please for an answer to this. The minigames we may look at one day, its not really a priority. CTF is a more realistic aim that is more likely to happen.

The best way to become a beta tester is to take an active part in the community. That doesn't mean make 20 posts then ask us, or even a hundred posts then ask... It means, give somthing to the community - explain things to other people who are new for example - and if we notice you and think you're doing a good "job" you may get in. Most people in the QA team have done beta testing with us for many years, and almost everyone has been part of the community for at least a year.

Well, there are other mta fan sites, I'm sure you could find someone interested in using it. If you're serious about this we could announce somthing on the blog about it, if you want.

Any security expert will tell you not to run two personal firewalls at once on one PC. Equally, its fairly well known that norton is rather a memory and processor intensive program at times. I'd avoid it personally.

GTA running under blue won't even load the SCM - if it isn't there or you've gone and written your friends birthdays in there instead, it'll be perfectly happy. As for parked vehicles, no, that isn't currently possible. We think you'll have enough fun with the several tens of thousands of other models you can mess around with though. In the future we may add this, certainly for future mods this would be expected (e.g. deathmatch).

You should contact either me or ChrML on IRC. If you are interested in this position, you would be required to use IRC frequently, so your allergy to it may prevent you from effectively filling the required role.

I've just checked this myself - I use AVG - and I have the same problem. I've contacted AVG about it, though from past experience with Anti-virus companies, its quite likely they'll ignore us entirely.

We certainly hope so, we've spent way too long working on it for it not to be (blue has been in development for over 2 years now)!

Its not as if Oli needs character witnesses, many people in the community have known him for longer than I have, but I can say that I'm certain that he would never do somthing like this. Hes put countless hours into making MTA the best possible game, he wouldn't do somthing like this to spoil that. Damo: This is not the place to attack anyone, team member of not. If you can play VC normally without the disc in, it should work fine.

We wish we did only have 4 minor bugs, but sadly thats not the case. Whoever told you probably wants to remain "annomymous" because it'll be obvious that he has no idea what hes talking about.

We don't have enough time to do both versions. We'd have to sacrifice a lot from MTA:SA to produce another 0.5 version.
