dont worry guys. im still a MTA fan. but when you compare the two mods, well there is no comparison. the deathmatch does support weapons. at least it did for me,.. other peeps had them.. i could shoot them, when i got hit.. i lost health.. when i died i respawned with out disconnection. ok here's a breakdown: The Good: GGM, has upto 32 player deathmatchs. its more stable, but not stable-stable. weapons, peds-traffic, and cars work. less lag. alot less. This will basically hold us over until MTA.03 which will rule GGM, and it will be out of the question. especially since (iggy pointed out) that it hasent been updated in over a year. The Bad: when you crash, you REALLY crash. i had to do to *"sleep resets" and double-hard reset to recover from one uber-crash. *a sleepreset is when you put ur pc to sleep from the keyboard.. then when you wake it, if forces you to log on.. and all your tasks are paused so you can easily crtl-alt-del them. The Ugly: i suppose he's no loger working on it.. but that wont matter when the next MTA is out. Personally im still a bigger MTA fan.. but the quality of this is shocking.. go MTA. BTW: people that were in my server: im sorry.. but i crashed once... then when i tried to run gta3 it crashed... happens sometimes. thats when i had to do the hard reset, so the server closed. i hope i didnt cuase u guys to much trouble.

HOLLY SH*T IM ABOUT TO CRAP MYSELF... AGAIN!! ok. i thot MTA.02 was the coolest thing ever. now i think its the worst mod for gta3. of course if the next mta is as planned it will be alot better that this. the only thing is: ggm has peds and traffic. its the perfect death match situation. mta, keep up the hard work, but until .03, i know what im going to spend my time doing

Ok here is my idea.. i cant find any errors in it -have MTA wait for a hotkey like TAB. -when a player hits it, you see the car jack animation, entering passenger's side. -if the passenger seat is taken (MTA Server will remember) then it shows the animation of one of lugi's grils getting in a back seat, then you had to do the "Fuzz Ball" mission. (cept with your model) -once in the car, it maskes (removes) your controls (the same way they will be removed in chat) -it tells your copy of gta3 that you are driving the car... -but since you dont have controls... there is not effect... and this allows the camera to follow the car, because your gta3 thinks your driving. -the server know what type of car you have.. so it know the maximum people per car.. -press TAB and in shows the animation of the girls exiting, cept with your model. -this allowes you to enter a car.. and not jack it. enter key would do the same, but jack the car so everyone would be kicked out. NOTES: -if you want to have 360° shooting: --instead of telling gta3 your driving the car.. when you presst SHIFT+TAB, in just align you coodinates with the cars. --it uses a little offset so your head is under the roof. --for as long as your in the car.. determined localy by your MTA (no need to sync.. since its changng your coord's everyone else will see that neway.) you will be able to rotate as usual, just not walk, because your coord's are synced. --when you press SHIFT+TAB, it stops syncing them. BTW: i know there are other threads about multi people in a car. but i decided that my idea was new, and i didnt want to reply to a thread weeks old. so i made a fresh thread for a fresh thought. NOTE: my second idea for 360° is not foolproof. i have not thought it out completely. but can anyone find a problem with the frist?

well the original idea was to not allow cars to the VIP and Gaurds.. but we realized that would be a little too extreme. so instead.. the VIP car moves slower. this way you cannot jet from a to b. but the car would have to be reconizable as having the VIP, so it changes to an odd color. Also the gaurds are supposed to defend the VIP, so the VIP has to be weak, but powerful enough to be a fun charectar. so unlimited uzi is his only weapon. the "football" was a suggested way to pass on the VIP abilities once he dies.. so if he does.. the game is not over for everyone -

my pants are still clean. mainly because i already posted this idea long ago. i called it King of the Hill, works as such: each gang can capture teritory. gangs have to fight over it, they cant just walk in an take it. each gang controls a percentage of the map, like 48%. that means when you die, its a 48% chance that you will spawn in their gang. the more land you own the bigger your gang. evntually you try to control the whole map. but smaller gangs (by will) can choose to ally, and over thro you with shear brute force. scoring is rank of percentage owned. if you completey kill all gang members before the respawn, then that gang is out all together. - that was my original idea.. pretty similar to yours, cept for the peds which wont even be in .03 neways -
well the thing is, is MTA uses winsoc. which sends a variable type called a string. if you are familiar with algebra, you'll know that a variable is a letter or word (such as x ) that represents a number. a sting is a variable or word that represents text. its called a string because: h-e-l-l-o is a string of letters. put together they make hello. in C, there is no such things as strings (in C++ there are CStrings and such) so originally Strings of letters were created, wich infact is just a grouping of letters. ok the reason i explained all that is becuase: -MTA sends strings to each other (your chat) -Obviously AIM, and IE send strings of DATA. if you've ever looked at the HTML of a webpage.. its just coding that displayes the site. so if you have MTA running and string data comes thro your connection at the same time, MTA thinks its chat, and thus displays it in-game i know VB, so i could easily write a program that does this: -You hold down alt and type. when you release alt, it sends your message. -the benefit of this, is you would not have the laggy typing MTA comes with you just run my prog in the background while running mta. the only thing is: -i dont know how to unmask keys in VB. this means, disable all the ingame keys such as exit car, or change camera. so its still hard to type.\ On some other notes: -yes, if you go on aim, and you friend that your playing has aim open, he would see all your messages, if you alt tab out and type to him -its best to close all internet related programs while running mta, to remain stability.

Well if the player could pass the item (briefcase or football etc) it would be more like a protect the flag that ctf. So hows this sound (sounds pretty good to me) -VIP can protect himself with unlimited uzi-thats all -VIP can be passenger, car moves slower and is an odd color -Instead of gaurds being dead for the rest of the game, they respawn 3 minutes after their death, that way if they are all wiped out at once.. there will be a time period in which the VIP must fend for himself on other notes: -the VIP clothes chaning idea is pretty cool.. its more like a witness protection plan, but still i dont think it would fit. perhaps tho... -if the VIP dies, then ONLY another gaurd can collect it. this way, it the VIP is a noob, then he'll die quickly and a better player can get it... otherwise your stuck with whoever you get. after all, your supposed to be protecting the VIP, so if you cant handle it, that says something about both of you. -

i would definately pay for this mod.. not too much tho.. but still if all is accomplished that is being planned, this is gonna be big. i cant wait until its finished. speaking of mods n stuff. what about CS? its a professional mod for HL... i suppose you could work something out with R*.. personally i think its best left as freeware.. the best mod ive seen -
ya thats tru. but this is in vb, and it uses winsoc. the at least need to do the netcode in C. heres another posible solution: -net code is in c. if 5 players are on screen (including oneself) it syncs maximun 25 traffic. -that way there would be no more laq than if all 30 ppl were on screen -so the server has a program running in the background, which keeps track of 100 cars per island.. -each island is given a grid. -based on where your car is on the grid, in shows the cars that match. + other players. -so the server sends out data max 30 to each person.. no more lag than usual -if there are 10 players on screen, there can only be 20 traffic. -if there is 10 players and 22 traffic, the extra 2 cars are blown up.. this way all remaind synced, low lag.

in worms you can choose a flag, i would choose US for example. i think later on MTA should have something like this... also be able to import a custom flag\sig. also: MTA crew should have an identifiable Flag so you know when your playing one of them. and if R* ever does nething then they can have an R* flag reserved for them. i think that would be a nice edition later on, so we know who we are playing. also i think chat rooms shoud be titled, like "VIP, Assasins, And Gaurds all welcome" and chats need passwords so only your friends can get in. that all folks.

so wait: you only got in one car and then it just started driving around with you in it and you were in the passenger seat? *cought*BS*cought* dopelacting (Verb) Doe-pell-act-eeng: a word made up on spam threads to confuse readers and make them take the time to look it up. since .02 uses the "previous car method" its not very likely that the car your in will start driving. also GTA3 is not programmed to show you in the passenger seat... ever. so maybe you should dopleactate your facts.

why would you want to join your own game? *GTAtari thinks* "so he can play with himself" *GTAtari Slaps Himself* uhh your supposed to create a game and wait for a stranger to to join then you play him.. MTA can only do one thing at a time: connect or create. if you try to both it crashes because winsoc is not ready.

oic. i know what you mean about the car always beeing shown. heres my theory: it makes the buffer 31.. so when it loads traffic there is a maximum 31 cars.. one is reserved for the criminal. good luck with ur game, make GTA4

IJsVogel: thats why i had no cars in the first place.. but the slower car thing sounds perfect, also colored. KAKes: if you read my original post, it says that the point is to get the VIP from one place to antother.. stealthy as possible.. so the VIP, has to move... in order to win. also the assasins would just camp the checkpoints Kent747: great idea about beaing able to pass off what ever it is (briefcase etc.) Here is an updated list-o-ideas: -VIP is randomely chosen -VIP can pass off VIP responsibilities (Football-Breifcase-etc.), and becomes a gaurd -VIP cannot run -VIP cars drive slower, and change to an abnormal color. -VIP has to get from one place to another on the same island here are some i thot of: -instead of killing the VIP, the have to confiscate what he has.. that way if the VIP dies, one of his body gaurds can pickup his object. -once the assasins get the VIP's object then they win, meaning that sniping might not be the best tactics, unless someones been trailing the VIP unnoteced. -chatting is team oriented. so if im the VIP, only the body gaurds will see what i have to say.. same goes for the assasins thats all i gotta say -
ya. there almost always is a solution even if you have to spend 10 hours debugging. so you saying that the server keeps track of all the cars.. and based upon what part of the grid your on, it spawns the cars the server has there? still the whole display buffer thingy. if you think this is a good idea (i do, but no need to rush into it, perhaps after MTA is futher in dev), but anyway, try PM'ing IJsVogel see what he thinks about it (if you do, explain both threads)

some things on the subject: -right now, the other players car is empty, so if you jack it, i suppose you would be riding with him! -possible way of riding in car. (beta idea) jack car as you normally would. when you get in the car.. if its already taken, then MTA disables the players controls cept for enter. this way the car drives by the original jacker, and since you cannot drive (controls are disabled) you cannot affect it, just go along with a ride. the camera and all follows the car as if you were driving it. also the drive by controls should remain enabled. -as far as 360 shooting: heres an easy idea (it sounds easy): instead of getting in the car, have a "ride" button, like [\|] key (above enter) when this is pressed, it syncs your corrdinates with the cars.. but you dont enter it. then it tells clients not to render you, but your still there. finally is lowers you a bit, so your in the car. this has to work, think about it. as long as your synced with the car, you coord's are where ever the car is.. since your not in it.. it acts as if your on the street. you can walk, becuz your x-y-z is taken over, but you can still rotate and shoot. this has only a few problems. if two people get in the car, then they will be shooting from the same place. and your view wil be out side the car.. unless you make it first person, which is two hard.. so leave it as is and BAM multiple people in a car, with shooting abilities i hope that makes sense to everyone. if it doesnt ill explain clearer. also, that leave the enter key as the jack key.. now you can choose to jack, or ride. i think that would be a cool mod anyway. imagine riding with ai, shooting at cops, using the ai as your getaway driver! -

or just use C heres i thot: write a quick c program that handles all the internet related stuff, and have the MTA VB program interact with that.. the C program is like a control in a way. this way you would have uber-fast no lag sending becuase its in C, and you have the MTA program working as it should. the only thing is, im not sure if you could do that type of interaction. im pretty sure its possible.. since MTA is interacting with GTA3

thats definately not winsock. im going to try to dl that control. yes winsock is the devil. im sure that mta .02 uses winsock, because of the runtime errors
