  1. Yes, I'm going to buy it, even though I'll be playing MTA: SA DM more.

    MOD!

Hmm, well, I'm pretty sure that could be scripted for DM.
  3. Hmm, well, being a soon-to-be Geographic Information Systems (GIS) graduate, it would be possible but totally exceed the object count available provided by MTA. This could be done a few ways. Simply put... (but probably over 99.9% of your heads) If you really want to be precise, use ArcGIS and AutoDesk Map 3D to input your GPS points; however, not only will you need the UTM coordinates for the location, you'd need the UTM coordinates for all vertices of every building and object. On the contrary, you can roughly build each building by knowing each UTM coordinate and plotting it within AutoDesk Map 3D, adding depth by adding setting the number of stories. From there, you could export the object and import it into Google Sketchup (free) and add textures to it. For topography, you could take a MrSID image (georeferenced and depth values (X, Y, Z)), import it into ArcGIS (ArcMap), create a raster, bring it into ArcScene or Blender (GNU free) and add textures, etc. Then, you could export it as XML and integrate it within the game with a few tweaks. The translation process would be longer, unconventional and possibly not be compatible, but that's how it can be done. That's generally how we do it in GIS.
  4. It never ceases to amaze me the amount of complainers on this forum. For one, there are several game developers and when they have set release dates and forums, none of whom I have seen are complaining having to wait till it's released. Normally, it's other irrelevant chatter. Secondly, when game developers have announced a game and use the developer's and other forums, again, I've never seen lame rants asking the developers to release it sooner. Now, I realize this is an add-on/mod but it shouldn't be any different than the norm. Thirdly, there are other games to play, this isn't the only one on the planet. Play something else and don't dwell on when it will be released. Forums are there for more reasons than one. Remember what happens when you look at the clock while waiting; time seems to go by much slower. Not once have I ever whined to have a game/mod released sooner than it's ready to be. I just hope people will grow up one of these days and let the developers be; unfortunately, I don't think that will happen. Anyways, fantastic job with the progress and kudos to the people who cheer on the MTA team with their positive feedback.

    MOD!

...like using the Car Mod shop with more customizations?

    MOD!

Zion, that's what the Pay'N'Spray's are for (color/damage-wise).
  7. MTA has released the client for GTA3, VC (stunt mode/DM) and SA:Race. Thinking they won't release it is like saying the pope isn't Catholic. It will happen, lol.
  8. Thank you for repeating yourself; as if I didn't see it the first time. See how the MTA team made one in their scripting tutorial? By saying that you made an Ion Cannon in SA-MP, actually sounds like you made one like MTA's, when in turn, you didn't. What's the significance of a text-based Ion Cannon? lol.
  9. Paul means he wants to see a visual in-game of the scud storm you made; not just scripted text.
  10. I'm quite happy with what's been made so far, thank you. PS - Why bring up 'duration' practically in every thread? It's wasting bandwidth and reducing my IQ. Please, just wait for it; we won't be disappointed. Play another game while waiting or play Race.
  11. VC and SA were both fun. Both have excellent music stations too but I like SA's extended features and interactions.

    MOD!

Don't worry about it, zion. Some people don't know how respond politely. In response to your question, vehicle color (in DM) can be scripted more or less upon entering the vehicle (perhaps a menu, if enabled). According to Azu, it's integrated apparently. In regards to the map maker, the limit of buildings reaches the limit in the game. I imagine, if the MTA team wanted to (similar to the vehicle scripting tutorial, recently) - they could change the textures of the buildings themselves.

    MOD!

I'm not angry; it's just a simple translation.
  14. Time is of the essence. Remember though, Rockstar is in a real company and the people who work for them do these things for a living (hence the development time). The MTA team does this part time and have other real life jobs and family and friends to spend time with. Also, how long do you think Rockstar takes to make their new GTA? It's not done overnight either. GTA:SA was released in 2005, releasing other games during that period and probably releasing GTAIV in 2007.
  15. Do you actually think GTAIV will be as customizable as MTA's making their DM for SA? I think not. It won't even be close and far from it. That's the beauty of MTA.

    MOD!

Translation: "I would like MTA to include a script that allows you to paint your own car upon entering it. Before entering the car, it is its own color and when you enter the car, it changes color. Also, more tools and buildings in the map maker would be nice."
  17. It may be dragged on too long but with all these new features, it's almost like we're anticipating new videoclips to see which new features are added next whether it has been released or not. I don't mind if it's taking too long.
  18. Henderson: you don't seem to understand. If DM was released like SA-MP was, everyone would be complaining. TBH, it's better to use something that's "as complete as it can get." None of us want to play with incomplete and buggy programs. Sure, there are people playing SA-MP but that's because they want to get out of their vehicles. I prefer the MTA:SA Race over SA-MP by far due to its completeness and features. And, for the most part, it's better to play with something with many features with expandability rather than something measily.

    Cant Play

These lost disc excuses are amusing, lol. Probably 0.2% of them are actually really true. PS - it's pretty cheap nowadays anyways and will encourage a more promising playing experience, minus the legal/support discrepancies.
  20. Sogs, does the "Stop Playing With Yourself" splash screen just disappear or does it return a Windows error message? Please describe. PS - the second problem listed (uncommon) is something I've came across before but fixed it.
  21. lol, as long as they keep showing periodic video clips, I'm happy.
  22. That short eh? I was thinking more like 2070. The MTA developer's kids would take over coding Blue and their kids would take over too.
  23. I wouldn't say less hopeful. As an administrator of the #1 (toggles between #1 and #2) ranked server, according to Game-Monitor, we couldn't be happier. We're as excited for DM as we currently are, playing Race. Every dev-log and videoclip is impressive and it's almost as exciting as playing the game. All of the features mentioned are well-thought out and they always get more interesting. I've said it before and I'll say it again; great job MTA team!
  24. My theory is: 11/26/2008, rofl. As far as I'm concerned, take your time; all new updates are impressive and we all have a lot to look forward to. On another note, my most anticipated games/mods of the future are: - Enemy Territory: Quake Wars - Cellfactor - MTA:SA DM So, again, MTA is never a disappointment and please continue to put in your great work. We'll be looking forward to it in the [near/far] future.
