Where abouts do you encounter it? I've never seen it or even heard of it before.

Does single player work fine, and which operating system are you running?

You can do it if you disable the anti-cheat, but it breaks the EULA (and therefore the law) so I wouldn't advise doing it.

Drive-by from a train sounds unrealistic and would suck, but having the chase view for driving it and then going into first person view when entering tunnels, that would be awesome.

You can see the maps just by typing 'maps' in the console - you don't even be logged in to do that. As for changing the map, then you need to be logged in and have a high enough level.

In the console, I think it's rcon_startrace or something. Look in the documentation, I'm sure it says in there.

SA-MP is made by different people. SA-MP also has deathmatch capability for GTASA but it's at a very early development stage, and although being fun it is VERY bugged. However it has a very powerful scripting engine and people have made some incredibly good game modes. MTASA is going to have a similar system, but it is still in development and nobody knows how long it will be, although don't get your hopes up for a release in the near future. If you want to play deathmatch GTASA multiplayer, then SA-MP is probably your best bet at the moment. As for actual differences, there are quite a few such as the client system, SA-MP has an external server browser and doesn't have an ingame console and no ingame admin system like the current version of MTASA does, although it is possible to script your own admin system using Pawno (SA-MP's scripting engine). Where MTA only has a map editor currently which allows you to make maps, SA-MP's pawno allows you to maniuplate nearly every feature of the game which is synchronized, the possibilities are endless. Comparing the two though isn't allowed on here as it leads to flame wars, and the SA-MP team generally doesn't appreciate criticism, and since a lot of their members read this forum, I won't go any further. If you want to play GTASA deathmatch though, like I said, go download SA-MP (I think the latest version is 0.1b) but be warned it is unstable, although it does look to be very promising in the future, as does MTASA DM when/if it is released.

Yes they both go to the same place, irc.multitheftauto.com is a leaf of GTANet but the server forces you to join #mta so it's the same, if not easier to use.

If you're talking about having NPC's (non-playing characters such as pedestrians), then this isn't possible. The current release of MTASA allows only racing (you against other people on the Internet), but the development team are working on creating a Deathmatch mod too (so you can run around and kill other people who play over the Internet). However, the date when this will be released is still unknown, although it's highly likely it will not be in the near future.

The PC version of San Andreas was released well over a year ago and MTASA DM still isn't out, I think quite a significant portion of the fanbase (at least 50% at a guess) have already lost interest, so this kind of thing could just be the key to actually getting people excited again, since a lot of people have lost hope in the team.

Just out of interest, which exact file did you download? "mtad.scm could not be found" generally means that it can't find the scm file to load, which would mean you either haven't installed MTA at all, or you've installed it and then deleted that file (or your antivirus software has which is the most likely explanation). Second, which country did you buy your copy of GTAVC in?

Does GTA San Andreas work fine in single player? Also, which version of GTASA do you have, and do you have any mods installed?

Not for LAN play, no. I don't see why you can't connect, can you connect to other servers on the Internet? Do you have any firewall on your computer which may be blocking access to MTA Server.exe?
