Is it true what people are saying about being unable to fly dodos in 0.4? I tried, but it wouldn't even glide - just kept falling back to earth again.

No dodos are flyable just noobs dont know how to fly them .. or newbies :)

the trick is to press the dodo wing down . and get a little speed then insted of pressing the dodo wing down key . tap it after u get speed . the dodo will rise . if it rises too quickly tap it longer..

No you weren't - we got over there quite a while before you gave me a demo of your flying. The first time we got over there I was the pilot - I think I remember :P

Gonna look at that guide though - I can't the hang of actually flying it - I tend to glide to the next island

[update]Black Dragon, that tutorial is very good - I believe I have mastered the basics of flying the Dodo now. I have tried before using other tutorials, but none were as clear and comprehensive as yours - thank you[/update]

I have actually perfected a gentle landing now, rather than the vertical landing Black Dragon suggests in his tutorial.

Basically, when you push the nose up you lose speed, but if you push it too far you stall it and crash down, so you need to push it up to just before it would stall and you get a perfect descent. You do need a long landing strip though like the runways or a long straight road.

Me too, its much more realistic and satisfying to swoop in and drift to a gentle rolling halt on your runway of choice, and more difficult than a stall/flip landing. Another favourite is to use s suitable piece of scenery as a brake. no i DONT mean flying into a building!, i mean swooping down and catching one of your wheels on the edge of paving to veer around to a halt, or as i did yesterday, lodging one in the sea-side corner of the sea wall below mafia hill, making the dodo spin on a dime to a stop rather than plunge into the icy depths. My passenger was speechless :D

Ive opened up a tour "business" with a couple of friends or (pilots) of mine .. This is how we work . we bitchpack a dodo , and take like 5 people to see ghost town and stuff . the tour is quick . but worth a trie . we also give rides to other islands . we have professinal pilots and all :D .

its all just for fun tough , its also fun when u have like 5 people on a plane and the weather turbulence takes it down . lol

Anyways . i was flying yesturday . and a MAJOR fog arrived . i donno how i did it . but i was able to stay 10 secs in air . before all the wind . took me down . i did record a video tough .. its inpossible to tell were the sea was . and if u were going like sideways or something ..

Dodo flying really isnt too hard, you just gotta know that you press DOWN and not up. If you're not getting any height advantage on takeoff, you just start going, hold down, then when you see sparks (front end starting to go towards ground) you just hold a second or two more and then lift off, keep tapping down, never up and you can't go wrong. And if you hold down too long during the sparks your plane will be slowed dramatically so you can retry.

I've still have to try landing, I never really bothered cause I just crash and get out usually :P But it sounds fun.

I hope the skimmer gets into MTAVC someday, that would also be fun to have a few of them.

i suggest a vertical landing? *looks at his tutorial* i think i need to explain it better... people have seen me land.. 'like a babys ass' would be an apropriate sentance

6.8 The Dodo's nose is now going to head down, but you should be low enough just in time so that the Dodo would touch down with the ground in a perfect landing.

Sorry - from that and the way I've seen you land, I thought you meant stall the engine and land vetically. The way I do it, I never have the nose heading down.

i knew it! you got it all wrong!

try it sometimes, even not to land: hold up in a low speed. after that the nose goes up, it will stop going up, and start heading slowely down. when you do this from a low hight, the nose goes down just in time for a perfect smooth land.

clear enough now?
