I could be wrong...but I've been blaiming it on continued dos attacks. However the periods it's down tend to be a lot shorter compared to the initial confirmed attack.

I had this problem as well. Every time I tried to access it for the last 3-4 days, it was down. At one point, I managed to view the home page but could not access the forums.

I presumed it was the DDOS attacks.

You got an idea? We tried everything! for the moment it is up and we hope it stays up from now on

The reason for the downtime is probably due to the large amount of 12-year-old script kiddies showing their appreciation for the MTA Team's excellent work.

I remember there was a virus going around that planned to DDOS Microsoft's site, but, much to everyone's disappointment, their technical guys managed to keep the site up. I'm not certain what they did, but it is possible.

LOL bring the microsoft website down i dont think so that must be like causing a power cut at a power station (hard as :o!)

Why? Many large sites have been brought down by DDOS attacks. Microsoft's should be no exception. Their web server probably had hundreds of security flaws, judging from their lacklustre approach to security.

Oh, and I disagree with your analogy because the power stations either have a single source of power or a single point at which all power meets.

Yea at least, guess it's now a matter of days... :)

I would have thought that it's just a matter of hours (possibly even less), or am I wrong?

Wish I knew.

(Didn't they say "it will be released within a week"? I may be wrong)
